Tiericide for modules?

The idea is after CCP is done with ships they should move onto meta 1-4 gear...

right now if you are using non tech II the only mod you should be using is meta 4... be it for fittings or damage mods...

i would like to see ccp reblanace meta 1-4 mods so they are all usefull for a certain purpose against each other... where one is not better then the other...

after that i would like to see new tech II versions come out that have simular bonus... Like a compressed coil railgun would have much better tracking then a prototype gauss cannon...

so in a ship that gets a tracking bonus it would make more sense to use the compressed coil then the prototype...

with some mods, this is already the case, i.e. lower meta variants having lower CPU requirements

what I would like to see are faction damage controls that are equivalent to T2 but use less CPU

they should also rename them so that it's easier to understand which does which

I think I remember some CCP dude saying that once ship balancing is in a decent state there's a vague plan to do something like that with modules, but it's a long way off.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

true enough like faint warp disrupters...

i am thinking more for guns and such... like why use a cystiline plate over a thungsten?

and no i dont think lower mass is a good enough reason... well it could be if the mass reduction was enough to be usefull...

Yeah, they're called officer mods and they run in the bilions of isk P

Something i have always wondered and something that i think would make most module worth something.
Why not swap the fitting requirements for meta1 & meta4 and for meta2 & meta3.

As is, the meta1 module has the highest fitting requirements and also has the worst primary attribute whether the meta4 module is the easiest to fit and also has the best primary attribute.
This makes the meta4 highly dessireble by new and old players. The new player, as they have crap fitting skills and therefore can't fit the low meta modules anyway and old players as they just want the best of the best.

By swapping the fitting requirements the new player would be able to fit lower meta modules at a cost of having a lower primary attribute. For the older player, that wants the high primary attribute, a new game of thinking fittings would emerge.
You may only have 20 CPU left for that perfect T2 fitting but you can't just fit a meta4 and be happy. Now you have to think either a crap meta1 as the last module or maybe 2 meta3 or 3 meta4 modules.

As is, the meta1 don't sell well as nobody buys them - thus they're cheap and the meta4 is overly expensive as everyone wants them. By changing the fitting requirements, we would get a more dynamic market and therefore a market for all meta levels, that funktions by supply and demand.

Yes, YES, modules need to be purged as well. By prodding them like that. Not, not here my boy, that's censored. Yes, there, keep hitting that spot. Good. Now dip them in oil. Then set them on fire, while dancing like a tribal savage during a full moon night, your body rolled in delicious ham.

When or how this would happen, we cannot tell, yes, we cannot. Too soon it is, much to learn we have, much to do there is, yes, yes, hmpf. Maybe that's something we could unleash CCP Fozzie to look at when the ship balancing is in a good place in the long run - we better keep him busy on hard projects or feed him raw meat all day long. If we don't, he starts climbing walls while drooling and attacking various people in the office. Can't have that, it's a pain to clean the mess.

And while they are at it, rename the f**&king implants, for pity's sake. I want implants that just say "+3% Powergrid - Slot 9".

Ok, translation from mad raving to English: just saying we agree modules need work - how or when this would happen, we cannot tell, too far ahead in the future, but that's definitely something that we would like to do at some point P

I can't tell if this is drunken rambling or sheer genius. But it's good to hear there's support for the idea, either way. Now go sleep it off, they'll need you fresh tomorrow.

As long as it is made so all of them are "sort of as good" as the current meta 4, not worse, while the current meta 4 stays as it is and it is treated to be "good at something"

But the question would be, are they made so tech II modules are better at everything, or that meta modules are worse at everything than T2 except for one area of specialty where they are epic.

For example:

X5 Prototype Engine Enervator has even lower CPU than now, (say 16-18), while remaining with the 57.5% web rate and 10km range.

Fleeting propulsion inhibitor could have higher overheat range than T2 web, but has less range not overheated.

The way it should work is that there should be ones that are "worse for functionality" that are also "easier to fit". Currently it is the reverse. Most meta4 modules cost less CPU/grid than meta2 modules, but are still better in their functionality as well.

Needs more variation

Also needs a radio group of two choices in the settings menu, that read "Complicated item names," and "simple item names", I really would love my "Phased weapon navigation array extron" and of course the beloved "Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon Microwarpdrive" to always display as the names.

While you and your "friend" are dancing in prosciutto tuxedos, be sure point "Bright Eyes" in the direction of Medium Railgun Turrets.

i would have a tech II version of each meta 1-4 version...

that way each would be different but still epic...
