Sadly yes, there is no confirmation at all that DUST514 will come to PC as well.

hmmmm.. i'm sure it has to do with Sony's contract .. however.. having DUST 514 would def capture more of the Halo 4 players when the 'buzz' burns out .. IMO ..

not talking about those players with an Xbox and a PS3.. just those with Xbox ..

No Dust on the X-box is down to Microsoft's policies.

No free content updates. problems with using other people's servers. Updates on their schedule only. I'd be surprised if we ever saw Dust there.

As for the PC, Well, if it was there it'd be in direct competition with Planetside 2, which wouldn't be the world's best idea. Amongst other things. Apparently Sony have been bending over backwards to be helpful with Dust.

Woo! CSM X!

Dust not being on PC is simply a smart business move. And it has been discussed a few times in articles online. And it isn't all related to Sony, although part of it is.

From Sony's perspective, they want Dust to stay on PS3, why? Because a move to the PC would cannibalize the Planetside 2 user base. Not a smart business move, much better for them to have their games split between more systems, they get a larger player base that way, its just easy math, especially with games that are so similar.

From CCP's perspective, they'd most likely want Dust to stay on PS3 to avoid cannibalizing their Eve playerbase. Branching out to the PS3 gets an entirely different market, console players, PC-less players, and also brings a lot of attention to their mother game on the PC. Whereas a PC release would just grab attention from a lot of people who already know a lot about the game, this release on PS3 gets an entirely new pool of people for them.

It was a very very smart move for all companies involved, and people who can't understand why Dust is on the PS3 obviously just don't understand business.

Combine that with the fact that it seems like Sony is just bending over backwards to help Dust be successful on the PS3 and they'd have been foolish to do anything else.

Provided it'll live that long. Which I doubt.

Wonder what happens when the PS4 comes out later this year (or after the predictably interminable delays)? Will Dust play on that, too, or will folks have to then have *two* PS consoles if there are to be PS4-exclusive games?

Doesn't really affect me; I got a PS3 mostly for Dust, as I've been playing Eve for 5 years now and wanted to "branch out". And cuz I've got that kinda time, being an olde retired pharte....

From what the bunnies gathered in intel. Sony just paid ccp to make dust 514 a PS4 launch title so another extension on the contract.

Luckily Unreal 4 engine does not mind playing with unreal 3 two clients able to talk to each other is more than possible after some work into it.

Dust 514's CPM 1 Iron Wolf Saber Eve mail me about Dust 514 issues.

I wouldn't be surprised to see DUST on PS4 at console launch.

Folks, you all realize that cross-platform games are nearly non-existent right? And while Call of Duty and such solve this by simply not playing on the same servers (PC players fight PC players, Xbox players fight Xbox players, etc.), the nature of DUST 514's connection to EVE means everyone fights in the same place.

There's a lot of very nasty technical challenges that would occur if one attempted to port DUST 514 off the PlayStation. It's account system is directly tied to PSN accounts as well.

Sure, if PlayStation crashes and burns as a console in the next few years, CCP would have to do a port, otherwise, I don't see why they would.
