As a GDI (God Damned Independent) for my first few years in Eve, I was always on the lookout for open groups to PVP with. It turns out there were and are many groups and events that anyone can participate in without leaving their corp. Here is a guide to those I'm aware of:

Frequent Events

RvB Weekly Ganked Nights
Mailing list: "RVB Ganked"
Killboard: http://rvbganked.co.uk/kills/?a=home
Site: http://mangala.rvbganked.co.uk/
RvB Ganked roams into 0.0 happen nearly every weekend. They are often led by Mangala Solaris or a guest FC. Each roam has a different theme. Although organized and dominated by RvB members, anyone is welcome to attend.

Bomber's Bar
Mailing list: "Bombers Bar"
Chat channel: "Bombers Bar"
Article: http://themittani.com/features/bombers-bar
This loose affiliation of pilots started as an open channel that anyone in Eve could join to participate in bombing ops in 0.0. Recently they seem to have expanded into other types of fleets as well.

Agony Unleashed Classes and Alumni Roams
Mailing list: "AGONY PVP UNI"
Enrollment for Courses and Alumni Roams: http://www.agony-unleashed.com/
Agony is an independent small-gang PVP corp that has offered 0.0 PVP classes for over 6 years. Nearly 10,000 unique students have taken their classes. After taking a class, students become alumni and are welcome to join alumni roams for free.

Infrequent Events

If you keep your ear to the ground (follow the various Eve forums and player blogs) and you will see plenty of opportunities to PVP without being beholden to any group. Sometimes CCP even announces player events. Many of these events include prizes donated by other players, corps, and Eve sites.
CCP Announcements: http://community.eveonline.com/news/news-channels/eve-online-news/
Players announce events here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=topics&f=2938
Other forums with event announcements:

Tuskers' Frigate FFA
These are posted on individual Tusker members' blogs; for example:
http://www.evealtruist.com/2013/04/tusker-frigate-ffa-3.html
http://eveoganda.blogspot.com/2013/04/tusker-frigate-free-for-all-3-announced.html
Newest one is coming up May 4th. The Tuskers provide security in a lowsec system for an all-day free for all PVP environment. Much of the PVP is frigates only, although larger ships are allowed later in the day.

Flight of 1,000 Rifters, hosted by Marlona Sky
These tend to be announced on various player forums, got example:
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=44946&find=unread
A new one is coming up soon: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=225361
Originally inspired by Kirith Kodachi's event, Marlona undocks a flashy (legal target) cap ship in lowsec as a lightning rod for PVP. Some players shoot it, some organize to rep it, everyone shoots each other, alliance blocks cyno in cap fleets, and mayhem occurs.

Kirith Kodachi's BMTHOKK events
http://www.ninveah.com/2011/08/bring-me-head-of-kirith-kodachi-ii_15.html
I'm not sure if these are done any more, but see the description of Marlona's events.

DeathRaces: Hosted by Rixx Javix and/or Tuskers
http://eveoganda.blogspot.com/search/label/Death%20Race
Originally conceived and run by Rixx Javix, they are now run by the Tuskers since he has joined them. Participants fly a set course to race around the galaxy. Others try to intercept and kill the racers.

FHC Ganknights
http://failheap-challenge.com/showthread.php?11787-GANKNIGHT-MARGARET-THATCHER-MEMORIAL-FLIGHT-13-APR-18-00
These used to be monthly roams into 0.0, but are extremely infrequent now (maybe once a year if the organizer doesn't ragequit between the event announcement and scheduled date). If you want the true experience, wait for one of these to happen and behold the cynicism.

CCP Live Events
Announced in advance on Eve-O forums, CCP employees form fleets that players can engage, usually in lowsec or highsec. These events tend to be run in Euro time zone only. The most recent was the Battle for Caldari Prime:

Twitter feed for the latest news on live events: EvE Live Events

Non-invited events
Sometimes large-scale PVP events organized by other groups provide emergent opportunities for independents to shoot stuff as well. Just show up in something snipey, or bomby, or cloaky, and pick off targets of opportunity. For example:
- Burn Jita (kill flashy gankers)
- Major 0.0 Fleet Engagements like Asakai(bomb the blob)

If anyone else knows of events that provide PVP opportunities to Eve players without requiring membership in a corp or alliance, please let me know and I'll add them to this list.

Cool

I always wanted to get into an Agony Unleashed Starter Class. I was never able to secure a spot, I was always too late to sign up till i finally gave up trying. After 4 1/2 years of playing I'm so lousy at PVP I simply avoid it (or die trying) and find other things to do.

Maybe I'll look at RvB, and see what's happening there...

Well, I don't know about capital ships cyno'ing into an event taking place in an Incursion system. Blink

Nice compiled list, and I've made note of some of them to take a look at and try to participate. :)

Also, for the CCP Live events, you might want to include the @EVE_LiveEvents twitter for updates on current events. (Even though not all of these RP events are PVP oriented)

That's actually quite a nice list!

I have taken the liberty of editing in a link to CCP's Live Events Twitter feed.

Thanks, mate! Cool

Do it. RvB was some of the best fun I've had in Eve. No politics, no BS, just explosions.

EVE-grade double entendres on "BS" acronym can be funny.

Also, nice list. Something I was looking for.

The Agony PvP-Basic classes don't fill up anywhere near as fast as they used to. First one I got on was full in under 8 minutes, takes days to fill up the class now, make of that what you will - personally I reckon there's just less real people playing Eve now.

Best bet is to sign up to their mailing list for notification of upcoming classes, with the exception of things like Skirmishing/Covops/Bomber classes you won't have any issues getting on the class.

The Agony classes are unmissable. Cant recommend them enough.

Awesome post!

Haha yeah I didn't see that when I wrote it. Well I guess they rarely use battleships so that works too...

Awesome thread, and very informative! Cool

Post with your main, like a BOSS!

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.

For those interested in the RvB ganked roams, I just put together a short post on the summer and what it could hold:

Big +1 on the OP.

Its nice to see posts doing positive things to encourage trying PvP rather than all the "NERF HI-SEC" posts.

Glad to see Ganked make the list.

Awesome fun. Awesome FCs. Glorious explosions. Very accesible to all.

Themes are usually hilarious, so are voice coms (seems those silly UK guys are always drunk) and there are prizes provided by SOMER Blink

Tons of the fleet comes from RvB, but we also get a lot of great guys/gals from other corps/alliances. Agony is a very active participant, and sometimes we get one of their FC's to lead us. Went on a Ganked a few weeks ago lead by GrayGal(sp?) from Agony. Awesome FC that loved to whelp the fleet.

Im sure Mangala, other RvBers and Agony can attest to the awesomeness, as well as any participant.
