Hello

I am having some serious problems with downloading todays patch.
The launcher is refusing to download, the client launched directly from exefile.exe refuses to download it.

The launcher sits on 1/4 Validating Client 0.0% for a while, it then progresses to 2/4 creating patch xxxxxxxxxxxx.whatever without ever having showed any progress on validating and shortly after that, pops up this shiney little error:
Quote:
The server you are connection to could not be reached.

Please check your internet settings and restart the EVE: Online launcher-

The URL that could not be reached was:
http://cdn1.eveonline.com/578717/RepairData_578717.dat

Launching exefile.exe directly, prompts me saying theres a 6mb update and i click yes, it shortly after spits out this error:
Quote:
There was an unexpected error while retrieving update status:

Unable to download file /578717/evepremiumpatch578717.exe from the server.
Error: [Errno socket error] [Errno 10060] A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond: 'connect operation system fail'

Do you want to go to support page?

If i go to the support page it tells me this:
Quote:
We were unable to locate a patchfile for your build no. (575759).
Download full build

Your OS: Windows
Your Build: 575759
Latest Build: 578717

DOWNLOAD

If i click the download button it takes me to the EVE Online Installer download, where no download links will work, they simply time out.

I have tried a bunch of things, i have restarted the launcher, the computer and even the router.
I have turned off anti-virus and firewalls. I have done more or less everything short of flying to
Iceland to get a physical disc with the patch on it.

I can ping www.eveonline.com easily enough:

I can not ping cdn1.eveonline.com, as you can see:

I have tracert'ed cdn1.eveonline.com and it it succesfully pings 6-7 hops before going dead. This is not isolated to my home network, i am unable to ping the address on 3 remote machines on different networks and even in different countries!
What gives CCP? I see people are playing. Is this an internet derp somewhere between me and your servers?

I would really like to be able to play again. Any help would be appreciated.

Same here.

I have just come back to EVE after several years. Been on two full days and after each downtime I have been unable to get the patch to work.

On the first day I used Hotspot Shield - with that activated I could connect and it updated. But I have removed that as it gave me BSOD.

Anyone more tech savvy know why that worked and offer me advice on how I can replicate that scenario?

Today I have tried loads of stuff (no Hotspot Shield) but but no joy.

If this is going to happen every day then, sorry, will need to cancel my sub asap.

Sad

edit - having said that I have the same problem, the actual url I cant reach appears to be the client patch. And using exefile.exe directly just loads the client and says i have the wrong build, but nothing happens re: updating it.

Have you run repair.exe? (this is the obvious question).

Yes, repair.exe fails too, with this message:

On the index download, who would have figured? It seems that the content server is just not available to me, or any of the gentlemen that have posted above.

I have now succesfully downloaded the offline installer from my dedicated server which is placed in France. I am transferring them to my local machine now and with a little luck i will be able to install them and play. This however, is obviously not an ideal solution and is probably not an option for most of the other people who are having this issue.

And i am still unable to download the files directly from my local machine, nor can i ping cdn1.eveonline.com. So the problem persists.

Attempt running Updater.exe in
C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\launcher\cache
(Or wherever your EVE install is) Make sure your EVE client & launcher are closed when you do this though.

I do not have such a file.

I deleted that cache folder in an earlier attempt to fix things, but upon restoring it from the trash bin, it appears that the file never existed.

To the gentlemen who are having this issue, Grug, Mikel Tofi and Razorgo0se.

Grug i can see from your ping report that you are running a danish operating system, so i'm assuming you are danish.
Razorgo0se, i'm assuming you are danish because of your corporation name.

Mikel Tofi, would you happen to be danish as well?

I ask this because i too, am from denmark. And given that fact, i'm guessing it could be a problem somewhere along the internet route between denmark and the download server. It's just a wild guess, but it seems strange that the ones posting here would all be from the same country, without it having some relation to the problem.

Another thing I can suggest is to enter the launcher settings (little cog icon top right of the EVE client launcher), select the 'EVE Client Settings' tab and hit 'clear' on the 'clear user specific client settings' option. Can also try clearing the other caches too. This will, however, get rid of your user-specific settings relating to the UI and overview settings etc, so just be aware. But it is another option if you choose it.

Okay, i managed to fix this by downloading the entire offline install from another machine.

I managed to download the patch from my dedicated machine from this link:
http://content.eveonline.com/578717/EVE_Online_575759-578717_win.zip

If that doesn't work for you, here is the dropbox for it:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ccuvipxiwyh8b3w/EVE_Online_575759-578717_win.patch

It's downloaded straight from the above link, it's clean and quite safe. Download if you want to. I'm unsure where you need to put this, but i think it might be just in the EVE install folder. I hope this helps you guys.

The problem is with akamai, whom Level3 is having routing problems with. TDC/Yousee is connected to Level3, which means our packets doesnt reach the destination. This is not something the ccp devs can do much about unless they have some good contacts at akamai.

I connected to a vpn in manchester and updated the game client through that. There are no problems running the actual game.

ccp could do with a backup solution in case the primary download location fails.

This problem will only effect danish users or others whose ISP only have a single peering agreement through Level3 to akamai.

Yeah i thought it might be a routing problem.

At any rate, there's the answer for you all, a VPN somewhere if you know how to do that, or my dropbox link 2-3 posts above this one for a direct download.

Sorry, no Im in the UK - but im on Sky broadband which looks (according to Google) to be a possible cause.

I have tried loads of things, spent hours doing it - ive got in now but only by doing a complete install and re-downloading. Took ages but I had some other stuff to do anyway while it downloaded.

Cant do that every time though!
