As mentioned in CCP Affinity's dev blog, Mordu's Legion is trying to pin down the location of highly important Covert Research Facilities owned by the Guristas. However, they cannot do this alone. They need capsuleer assistance to discover their location, as mentioned in this news article.

To do this, you must scan down Contested Guristas Covert Research Facilities, using scan probes, and hack their transponder towers. Doing so will reward you with Guristas Data Sequences, which you can then turn in to the Legion in 5ZXX-K in exchange for BPCs for their new faction ships. Or, if you don't care to brave null sec to turn them in, you can sell them on the open market to other players and hope they'll make the runs.

Once enough transponder towers are hacked (the Legion does not know how many they need yet, but they'll have a better idea once you all start hacking and turning in the data sequences), the Legion will figure out where the Covert Research Facilities are and start besieging them. The Legion wants to keep their location to themselves, but you know how New Eden works... They probably won't stay that way for very long at all, especially since capsuleers will be getting their hands on the sequences first.

We will keep you updated on the progress you are making as the days go by and the Legion monitors your progress.

The exchange rates for the Mordu's Legion ships are:

  • Garmur (Frigate) - 1 run BPC - 75 Guristas Data Sequences
  • Orthrus (Cruiser) - 1 run BPC - 200 Guristas Data Sequences
  • Barghest (Battleship) - 1 run BPC - 700 Guristas Data Sequences

Hurrah!

Also: when this stage of the event closes, will we still be able to turn in GDSes for a reward?

Is that 75 for a built frigate or for a BPC?
#4 - 2014-06-03 13:30:58 UTC
Just a quick note on this:

The Data Sequence will be dropping today, but will not be able to be sold on the market until after downtime tomorrow.

You can however turn them in at the Mordu's Legion LP store as of today to claim rewards directly.

Sorry for the confusion!

Big smile

Also, are these "contested" (and the name is wrong there is nothing contested about them P) only found in high sec or will they also spawn in low sec?

*edit*

Contested Guristas Covert Research Facility has been added to High and Low security space.

Woots off to low sec i go, silly sites in high sec are worthless apart from these >.<

Are these despawning appropriately? I've already located two already-hacked containers.

The site i ran didn't despawn as i would have expected, so i assume they are either on longer despawn timers or are not despawning at all

Checked this and they are despawning fine, but the timer is set to over 2 minutes so despawn doesn't happen immediately. Sometimes it will be possible to find a site with an already hacked container.

Sometimes?

I've found three sites, and they all were already hacked. :/

Pretty please lower the timer? :(

Are these things just in Gurista space, Lonetrek, The Forge etc, or all over the place?

If the transponder towers are successfully hacked and they despawn after a while, why do they explode?
Shouldn't they just explode if the hacking fails? How about a pop-up a warning "Thread with care, the towers explode! - Do not show this warning again" - Click, close and have a nice day :)

Define explode, does it deal damage?

If its just the default eplode when failed hack explosion then dont worry about it

Question about the relation to the conbat sites and the hacking sites...

is this a daily thing like once per day we have to hack the sites to open the combat ones?

Or is it more both will be available once we hack enough to open them... So after today both combat and hacking sites will be open?

There are no stupid Questions... just stupid people... CCP Goliath wrote:

Have also changed this, will release the fix tomorrow. If they are successfully hacked the site will despawn much faster

And yes, the explode deals damage

Not daily, you can hack as many times as you like and use the data sequences to obtain BPCs from the mordu's legion LP store. When this has been hacked enough times to satisfy the Mordu's Legion, it will unlock the other site permanently.

Once the new site is unlocked, the exploration site will not be available, just the new combat site but the data sequences can still be traded in the LP store for a few weeks.

So. How many sequences are people finding in a given site?
