So is that online lore repository coming some time this decade?

"The EVElopedia also contains a significant amount of prime fiction and official backstory reference material that has been worked on by both CCP, and our fantastic ISD Mercury division. This will be relocated to a new home over the course of the next couple of months so that all players have read access to it, and ISD Mercury can continue to contribute to developing prime fiction and backstory for the EVE Universe. "

It's been well over a "couple of months", couple is usually taken to mean two, and this has now turned in to about 6-7 months with no status update on how this is going - or I've at least managed to either not see it, or amazingly forgot all about it.

Please excuse my lack of patience, I am just getting real tired of seeing the EVE's story department getting the shaft all the time year round.

The people who are responsible for this are working on a lot of stuff right now. Still, a little communication goes a long way.

Nope. There's waaaaaaaaaaay more than that actually, but :CCP:
http://wiki.eve-inspiracy.com/index.php?title=Category:Lore hosts a partial backup.
Edit: It's a somewhat more complete backup now, and if you find any broken pages just mail the URL(s) to me and I'll fix them ASAP.

While I appreaciate your help in finding old stashes of lore, it would really warm my heart if CCP would actually inform us on whats the holdup and why? I can understand slight misscheduling, but this goes way beyond that. While I'm not happy about the snail's pace this is going, just a little heads up would make it a bit easier to understand and deal with.

You know, the sad story about this very subforum is that it is mostly dead. The stickies still point to the long gone evelopedia. There are very few threads per month... Why? What has happened?

The other sad part is the lore that will never be revived. All the fantastic stories and artwork from EON Magazine. I'm almost ready to just start scanning the entire collection to preserve it...

+1 for some information from CCP

This is still a great question!

Also, without a new repository this bug can't be fixed.

The silence on every one of these threads is very loud.

Apologies for not responding to this sooner.

I can't get into details, but I am able to confirm that the new fiction system is being worked on, and we haven't forgotten about it.

That's really swell, but for future reference, don't promise you'll do this in a couple of months if it takes you near or over a year to do it. I've asked this many times previously, but does CCP's leadership give a **** about the lore anymore?

Anything related to it seems to be so down the development importance ladder it makes one think really hard that they just don't care.

E: I realize you didn't write the dev blog, so this is not aimed at your specifically. And once again I don't blame the few devs working on the story department on anything either, I'm sure they're doing what they can with the little resource they have. I'm just getting super frustrated on how badly the story side of this game gets treated, and I'm probably not the only one.

You should see if Zendane from the Eve reader could get permission to record some of those stories as well.
I bet a lot of them would be great in an audio format.

Use this in the meantime.

Ahhh... Now this is a true gem to have... Thank you.

They've heard from players more about it, so they have a little bit of an idea that we give a **** about it, anyway.

It's pretty important to maintain decent world-building, even if it's in the background. It keeps what's above ground more consistent. That adds to game depth in important ways for players.

Little more than a month to go before "couple of months" turns in to an anniversary.
#19 - 2017-02-26 17:26:08 UTC
Well it's anniverary for the blog post, I hope I'm not being too presumptous to assume the death of the wiki turns a year old before we have a working lore wiki again.

Wait, damn, it was a leap year! They technically have 4 years to do it now!

...as it is this time of the year again, I wanted to point you all to my article on EVE history, where I give some reasons for why the EVEwiki was and is important. Disclosure: That is part of my CSM12 campaign.

- EVE History – Deleted or Meant to Stay?! http://evenews24.com/2017/02/17/eve-history-deleted-or-meant-to-stay/

Also interesting are the podcasts with Djavin Novienta and with myself (Materall did study history too, btw - and when there is one thing historians hate it is deleting sources)... space librarians, archivars and historians unite!

Bring the wiki back! Enjoy!
