Socially awkward men playing a game that's nerdy even for video game standards?

Well, there's a first time for everything I guess.

Why would I want to browse and read Reddit forum ?

Granted some players will say CCP posts there almost exclusively. Well, call me old fashioned but I believe CCP should post all Eve related topics first in the 'Official' Eve Online forums before using any other type of social media platform.

Speaking for myself, Variety and Intel.

Variety, because (excluding the cases of overblown drama) more often than not something comes up that makes me smile or outright laugh out loud. Compare that to here, when it's usually the same old threads resurrected in various guises i.e complaining about cloaky camping/war-decs, with the ensuing comments usually of the eye-roll variety. It really needs more of this.

Intel, because when the new-bro/super alliance's end up moving it's nice to know where, and usually someone (or a dozen) will announce it on the sub-reddit, so I'll know where (and where not) to go to find a fight.

Oh, nearly forgot;

Well, more than likely if CCP actually participated in these 'Official' forums like they use to do years ago, there wouldn't be so many duplicate thread topics being posted.

As for variety, there's multiple sub-forums available here in the 'Official' Eve Online forums than just General Discussion.

Now about intel for Alliance and Corporation members, isn't there some sort of special in-game way to communicate? Oh I don't know, like maybe through chat channels and Eve mail messages ?

Anyway, I see no reason to read or browse Reddit or any other social media platform to gain info about Eve Online when we have these 'Official' forums and other in-game options available. CCP needs to pull their heads out of the sand and start participating here again.

I get what you're getting at but it still makes a pretty weak argument. Ther is intel available on Reddit that is quite simply not on the official forums for whatever reason you want to paste onto it. Agreed there are both chats and eve mails as you pointed out, issue being you aren't actually chatting to these people nor are they mailing you. Not that you aren't a popular guy i'm sure, you just aren't communicating with that many people in game since nobody really is.

It seems a bit self nullifying to refuse information from one source purely because it isn't the source you wished it came from. Reddit is full of good stuff if you just ignore the crap, and since CCP folks actually do use reddit more than the official forums and they aren't policed by CCP it just is (currently) the better source for information. I read both (and everything else i can find that's a little bit to do with EvE) but only really post here. Up to you of course this is all just opinion, just didn't understand your (CCP should post here, so i will only read here even though they don't actually post here) logic Pirate

The root of the problem is players like you posting replies here saying Reddit is the place to go for Eve related info. Then other players see that and go there as well, initiating a Domino Effect giving CCP no reason to browse these forums or even post here. These forums were very active before this issue started happening a few years ago. If more players took a stand and stopped replying to CCP on Reddit then CCP would come back here. Course that won't happen because most people aren't leaders, they're just followers acting under the flawed logic of 'Since everybody else is doing it, I should do it too'.

Now your reason for communicating in-game events through a 3rd party media like Reddit when there's plenty of in-game options available doesn't hold much merit. Not everyone has Multi-Tasking trained to level 5 or like having their internet browser open while playing the game. When not in-game Alliance and Corporation members can easily view in-game messages with Eve Gate.

Just for the record I never said I was a popular person but I definitely do have lot's of players directly communicating with me in-game via chat channels and personal convo's. Eve Mail messages are more of an indirect type of communication but over the years I've had a few messages sent back and forth within a very short time period which basically makes that another form of direct communication.

Anyway, I can't stop you from voicing your opinion. Just remember that when you post support for using Reddit and encourage other players to go there, you're also indirectly helping to kill the Eve Online 'Official' Forums.

Meh.
Thread about some FC posting pics of his butthole etc.

Im not impressed.

I learned to filter this stuff out years ago.
Albeit it cost me a large part of my faith in humanity.

Reddit.

The forum you have when you want free labor.

Reddit allows a game maker to wash their hands of complete responsibility of tending a forum.

Reddit allows its users some more freedom than game makers allow.

It's a convenient marriage, if not a blissful one.
