Lowslots look alright, Personally I skip a damage control for most shield pve fits the 12.5% resist just isn't enough for me and I'd rather use 4 damage mods. For the last lowslot I like a Signal Amp for extra scan res and +2 locked targets, a MGE like you have is also a decent option, can also go with a drone damage amp to give your drones just a bit more strength.

Midslots: I don't like your choices. A 10mn afterburner is too small and will barely give you any speed increase, upgrade to a 100mn. The target painter (or missile guidance computer) is nice to increase damage application. I think I prefer the target painter as it wont get stacking penalized with the rigs like a MGC would, But I haven't run the missile damage numbers so I'm not 100% sure on what is optimal. Also I like a burst tank XL booster, 3 hardeners, and a cap injector give a ton of tank. Most missions you don't need that much tank or only need it for brief moments while you kill a few ships and lower the damage.

Highs: I think the DLA is a wasted mod on almost all ships, drones are fast but they aren't that fast I want them going past 60km, heck I don't want them going to 60km in the first place. Cruise are pretty standard.

Rigs: extenders don't do a whole lot, and the EM rig is wasted in many missions. I prefer rigor/flare rigs to get damage on target. With t1/faction missiles you don't need all the application, in this fit, but with the jump to t2 missiles and fury ammo you want all the application you can get.

Drones: I prefer lights, With drone aggro only elite frigs will try to attack them, plus they have good tracking and apply well. Mediums are good for a bit more damage but are slower, take more aggro, and don't have the best tracking.

Faction mods aren't needed but the BCUs add a bit of damage and save a lot of CPU, Adding 2-3 faction mods is typically pretty cost effective. And the xl booster is there for CPU resons also, but the pith c-type is typically 30-40mil so it isn't too expensive.

Just know that missiles are a love-hate relationship for most of us. Good luck.

I don't quite get the point of fitting a target painter with cruise missile since they works at totally different circumstances. The range of T2 cruise missiles vary from 60 to 130 (poorest to best skills), while the target paint can reach only 54 km to the most. Of course flying your ship get into the distance is a doable idea. But why not use rapid heavy or torpedo instead? Just think practically about how you can use these modules on your ship...

Raven and its variations are mostly good at active tank (especially Golem). However, their capability of capacitor are not comparable to the amarian vessels. This is, actually, why people tend to fit cruise missiles on the raven class- do the distance tank. With a MJD, players can sit at a safe stance, firing long-range missiles, "sniping" we say, and watch rats burnt to hell. It is completely different from blitzing missions with Machariel or doing AFK ratting in a Dominix.

Target painters are 100% effective inside optimal, and have another 100km+ falloff where they work a decent percent of the time. Most targets should be inside 50km though where they are 100% effective. Sure you get some spawns outside of optimal ranges but that will happen with other weapon systems too. You can range tank, but like you say good at active tank, so why bother with range tanking, at range you are likely losing more damage to lost volleys than target painter falloff. MJDs are a "new" module, range tanking wasn't really even an option back when I started running missions.

RHML are nice, but with the reload the dps is typically lower than cruise. Torps are interesting, but the application and range are bothersome and I'd just rather use cruise.

Good point. If so, then TPs are solid choice.

Btw, range tanking does not conflict with active tank. I have only three modules of defense along with a MJD in the mid slot of my CNR so that I can fit two other modules for dmg application.

On a T1 Raven a pair of precision-scripted missile guidance computers along with 2x T2 rigors and a T2 flare will give you the best damage application. Any missile implant that improves damage application is worth its weight in ISK as those bonuses aren't stacking penalized (so you can get an additional 10-12%). Skip missile guidance enhancers. If you still have room for a target painter (and good skills) this will help against cruisers and frigates, but honestly your best option is to utilize light drones and Precision ammunition against smaller targets. You may also find it beneficial to group your launchers into clusters of 3 so you can attack two different targets at once.

That's a cool idea. Where do you run missions? I'd like to test that out.

You might feel disappointed. I have only T2 modules fitted all the time.

You may want a damage control instead of the drone damage modifier.

Hi, how did this fit work for you in level 4 missions?

I'm currently preparing myself for buying a Raven and start doing level 4 missions.

the 3.0 fit has an awful tank (it's neither passive nor active)

Passive tanks work by utilising 2 mechanics
Total shield HP
Shield recharge rate

If you have 1000 shield hp
and a recharge time of 100 seconds
your shield will regenerate 10hp/s

Ideally you want a large value in shield hp and a small value in recharge time

effective tank dps vs
Guristas 29.55
Serpentis 35.97
this is how effective your tank is ... it will break if npcs do more than 40hp damage per second

Changing the Midslot layout (for an active tank) to

100mn Afterburner II
Large Shield Booster II
Kinetic Deflection Shield II
Kinetic Deflection Shield II
Thermal Dissipation Field II
Heavy Cap Booster II (400's)
Missile Guidance Computer II (Precision Script)

gives you an effective tank dps of
456.27
vs Guristas

switch it to
2x Thermal + 1x Kinetic and you get a tank of 368.37
vs Serpentis

It has a cap-life of ~15m which is more than enough for L4 pve content

This fit is very solid. It's a good base to start, adjust to taste:

Rigs:
2 rigor, 1 flare

High:
6 x Cruise launcher II, fury missiles.

Mid:
XL dead space SB
2 mission specific hardeners
1 mission specific amplifier
Heavy cap booster, 800 charges
MGC II
TP II

Low:
4 BCU II or faction
DC II

10 mission specific light T2 drones

It's hard for me to give you advise because I'm not sure where you are with your skills, but this is what I would do for a 'newer player'.

Rigs:
2 rigor, 1 flare rig

High:
6 cruiser launcher (meta 4 or T2 depending on skill)

Lows:
4 BCU
+1 slot

The trick all comes into how to fit everything else. The easiest and safest way to do it is equip a Large micro jump drive, and use your range bonus to take pot shots while keeping things at long range. In this case I would equip a signal amp in the low for the extra targeting range, maybe a MGC or two, and then some tank that you can pulse when you do take some damage before jumping again. The micro jump drive also gives you a way out if you get pointed by rats and want to warp off.

If you have better skills you can instead go for a heavier tank in the mids, but I wouldn't suggest this until you're putting down really good DPS with your missiles.
