Well should he?LolTwisted

I am way to tired and it made me think, this is a bad thing.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

I'd love one.

I've thought it might be funny to suggest such a thing (since I'd probably rather run it past our community team than do something like that on my own) but to tell the truth I haven't had a good idea of what it would be.

The name kind of implies highlighting a particularly embarrassing loss in-game, and that's not something I'd think would be appropriate for us as developers to do. Maybe highlighting particularly embarrassing posts in EVE General Discussion?

For now I think this will just have to remain a dream.

I don't think you'd have enough time to filter them all.

Plus, my posts are embarrassing enough without even trying. If there was an award for it, I'd go into overdrive shitposting.

How about getting a "CCP Darwin Award" added in-game and every so often you just show up somewhere in a ship in-game with like two stacks of 10 in cargo and run around until you whelp? Big smile

Darwin awards in real life are for those who die due to their own, extremely stupid decisions. Darwin Awards commemorate those who improve our gene pool by removing themselves from it.

But, in eve, you never really die, so it had to see how it would apply.

Perhaps those posters who abuse the ability to make new threads to counter locked ones could win a Darwin Award.

Another idea would be to help Team Security by posting a banned account or a doomheimed account who was bad and Darwinned themselves from the game. Its as close to officially dying really.

Personally Id just suggest highlighting a random killmail or even an NPC only death, seeing as it means the person killed themselves, in some way. Wouldnt need the negative connotation at all but I do understand the relevance.

I just saw your post int he other thread and this was my immediate thought afterwards.

How about "surivival of the fittest" with a twist? Like, surviving against absurd odds?

FAI, could give a Darwin award to anyone who achieves to kill a vastly superior ship with a terribly bad fit ship. If you face a T3 destroyer in a double tanked frigate with wrong racial weapons and win, there goes a Darwin award for you!

(Of course this would be gamed by players shooting their own alts, but, so is EVE, and ALODs would also be gamed to obtain the award...)

So all of F&I?

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

How about players nominating candidates, CSM doing a pre selection and the community team making the final decision? That way everybody is involved. Also, it could either be an embarrassing loss or an outstanding achievement. All it needs to be is memorable.

Remove standings and insurance.

Nah, as long as the stories are self-submitted you're just providing a platform, which is not only appropriate but awesome.

My most embarrassing loss was just dumb... I had to go afk for a bit while moving my orca, so I set my AP and ran out of the room. When I got back a couple hours later, I was in a pod with a lossmail from Old Man Star. Turned out I was in too big a hurry and forgot to set my routing back to avoid lowsec. I know, not a spectacular story, but it still makes me feel dumb all these years later.

Why does a Darwinian award have to be negative?
Why not give it to someone who does something so creative that its sets them above the rest?

The award doesn't have to mean you succumbed to the theory, it could mean you epitomized the essence of it upon others.

I kind of thought that too. I immedadely went to the poor dumb soul who loses $100s of plex in the cargo hold of a ship

That's a great idea. Let people nominate themselves and tell their stories. So anyone blamed or shamed is a willing participant. Could be pretty fun.

Well, I wouldn't mind one...I have had some foolish killmails. Maybe if it was done on a voluntary basis. But then some might do dumb stuff on purpose just to get one.
