Industry idea.

Lets start with this upfront. I have little idea how the industry side of the house works. So if my idea is way off base, feel free to troll me all you want. We can laugh together.

What I do understand is that T1&T2 relic site loot is used in some of the industry processes (Rig building I believe). I notice that T1 Relic drops are used in T1 Rigs and T2 Relic drops is used in T2 rigs. From what I see, they are used exclusively in that fashion.

Maybe, this just an idea,

Have it set up so they can be used on both.

For example Medium Trimark Armor Pump I

Currently one run requires:
9 x Scorched Telemetry Processor
22 x Tripped Power Circuit
22 x Burned Logic Circuit

HYPOTHETICALLY, the builder could have options:

9 x Scorched Telemetry Processor
22 x Tripped Power Circuit
22 x Burned Logic Circuit

OR

1 x Telemetry Processor
3 x Power Circuits
3 x Logic Circuits

-Or a mix their of (switch out Logic Circuit for Burned Logic Circuit)

-If a person uses all blue salvage parts, they could be receive a build time bonus.

-If a user uses non-blue parts on a T2 rig build, the amount needed could double, and if the user uses blue parts on T1, the numbers could half.

-Skills could possibly help with build time buffs amount saved or needed, or possibly to even have the option to use the variations.

I bring this up because some people say Relic and Data sites are pointless and not worth the time. This gripe could be solved by allowing more flexibility in their use.

Let me know if I am WAY off base. Thanks! (V);,,,:(V)

Salvage comes from 2 sources: exploration sites and salvaging wrecked ships. CCP can adjust the drop rate if necessary to prevent extreme supply/demand imbalances.

Current Jita price for a Logic Circuit is 680K ISK, Power circuit 420K ISK and 76K for the Telemetry Processor. With your suggested bill of material using T2 salvage the build cost of a medium T1 Trimark would be 3.376 million ISK

Medium T1 Trimark is selling in the same station for 1.2 million ISK. Not economically practical. Add the development effort needed to rework the blueprints for different BOMs and it's not technically practical either - there are lots of more valuable features the developers can be working on.

T2 salvage is quite a bit more expensive than T1, so it would make no sense to use T2 salvage for T1 rigs, it would result in the player taking a loss.

They're pointless in most part because they drop worthless stuff (eg low-value T1 salvage, carbon, unwanted BPCs), not because they drop T2 salvage that no one uses.

People say this because its RNG payout and they don't enjoy it, also they're probably trying to keep you out of the sites they want :)

A more realistic change would be to make tech 2 rigs require the tech 1 version as well as the t2 salvage parts. Just like all modules do.

Its very hard to balance with multiple paths involved, just look at the historical messes that are moon materials. A few of those minerals have another path to acquire because CCP was trying to balance out the minerals without adjusting moons at one point.

Note that citadels and EC have vacuumed-up a lot of salvage for rigs.

In fact, there isn't enough salvage in EvE to rig them.
