[UIVIU] Solicitation to Stellar Observers

Greetings, pilots of the IGS:

As part of our founding principle, Muspell Combine has authorized me to invite interested parties to participate in a campaign of citizen science which seeks to build an augment stellar index. With the advent of overhauled firmware and technical specifications, capsuleer camera drones can now transmit interstitial composite EM band imagery in realtime to the capsule, greatly enhancing capsuleer ability to make local astronomical observations from space, and bringing us closer to parity with more specialized astronomical instruments. Collecting these observational data is the key component of our first mission, but as there are many capable pilots throughout New Eden, we are looking to the public to take part in the pursuit of collaborative investigation. This will be a long-term venture, as the cluster has a great many objects to catalogue.

At this time, we are seeking reports for complete constellations, submitted by willing pilots who have acquired the documents requested. The data that participants provide will be tabulated in the Stellar Object Melioroptics Augment Dataset, which will be a publicly accessible living document. An early sample of the document can be found here. Participants may elect to receive publishing credit for their reports, or may otherwise remain anonymous. Observations published in the dataset can be further corroborated or corrected, but hopefully we will be able to build consensus as collection progresses. There are many catalogues and indices providing a great deal of overlap, improving the aim toward certainty.

The submission process will work thusly:

1. Pilot wishes to participate
2. Participating pilot travels to an undocumented Constellation, confirmed by SOMAD
3. Participating pilot performs visual capture (and optional observations) of each star using this scheme
4. Pilot submits report for the Constellation, proceeding as follows:
.....4.1 Upload of all visual captures of all stellar objects in Constellation with galnet link
.....4.2 Contract ‘Report: [Constellation Name]’ to Hetu Hegirin
..........4.2.1 EITHER contract the Data Sheet(s) from a station within the constellation being documented
..........4.2.2 OR contract the bookmark of jetcan in the constellation containing the Data Sheet(s)
5. UIVIU confirms receipt of Report
.....5.1 Visual captures are validated
.....5.2 Coordinates of contract are verified
6. UIVIU processes payment and acknowledges receipt
7. Report is documented in the dataset

A list of Constellations which will be exempted from this particular dataset can be found here. Additionally, Anoikis will not be included in this dataset, but may play a role in a later phase of the program, depending on the volume of data collected.

Unfortunately the SCC trade regulations do not allow me to contract QE-4 He Chips in return for public service, so compensation will have to take the form of ISK. UIVIU is currently weighing payouts for complete Constellation reports with visual capture as well as complete reports that include both visual capture and observational data. There may be delays in providing payouts by as much as 18 hours, due to duty cycles.

Replying to this thread is not required to participate, but additional info will be provided as needed.

Thank you for your kind attention.

+ Yes, the dataset will be under construction but publicly available during collection and tabulation.

+ Anoikis will not be included in SOMAD, but SOMAD may have future applications in Anoikis. It depends on the breadth of data available to UIVIU for future phases of the project.

An intriguing project. I will be participating, when my schedule permits. I will also be sending you a mail shortly with a few questions.

Hm. An interesting project. I, and a few associates may be able to supply data for the Pegeler and Josmaert constellations in Placid, given some time.

Here are my team's findings in the Tribute Region. Sadly, we are only mercs and not astronomists. Ms.Hegrin here has told me that the Zaibatsu holds the rights to allow other parties to make observations on the data to collect the ISK rewards offered.

Since, we have no one capable of making coherent observations on the data and don't like the idea of profits going to waste. We are opening our collected data (and future data) to the public.

I have spent a lot of time around Thera of late in awe of the power of god's work. It is like bathing in light to be in a near orbit of its corona.

If you want it, I can provide raw data and imagery.

As strength goes.

We'll have our teams take a look at the data and send our findings to both you and the Muspell Combine.

EDIT: We have completed the study of imagery and sent the results.
