Yeah I think batch install is just as important to allow scalability.

I will be great to have the build me 3 skiffs or 4 carriers at the click of a button.

Now we just need them to sort out the contracts so we can let players sell minerals at -10% of Jita prices at 40 mill per character per day to a corp and that would be even better.

Once again Rev, with you not linking youtube videos from the early Adam Sandler acting career. You are ruining valuable communication time, and are not expressing yourself to the fullest.

If he is annoying you too much Seleene, just evemail him some spodumain for him to really dig into for a week or a few months.

I would like to ask more questions about the winter expansion, but I feel most of it would be NDA or what not. So I shall have to wait and see what comes up.

Thanks once again for your 2 cent comments from your vast 12 months experience.

Tell us more. Troll away.

I'm a 12 month old prodigy, what can I say?

Suppose I do have another question. Wanted to ask if you had a better computer at CCP or if you have a better computer now. Perhaps with how fast tech changes just a relative comparison to cutting edge or e-peen will do.

Also art, lots of rumor floating around that art is the main time sink in EVE development. Is that true?

If it is true, you can trick CSM to visit kansas, we tried to cut art in the budget this year.

There won't be anymore 'minutes' before the winter expansion and the CSM doesn't control CCP Marketing so I really have no idea what we will see them put out there.

I really find these 2 issues to be tiny changes that could have far reaching impact on the profession. Living out of a POS is far more likely for a miner who doesn't NEED capital ships, and a plethora of PVP ships at his reach. However, the 25% off the top makes it non-viable. The spodumain is just a ridiculous problem that you pay for with ihub upgrades or wait a million years in low-sec to find and then be disappointed by.

I cannot for the love of Bob (thanks Frying) understand how they are not a "no brainer" for CSM/CCP.

Let me make a point that should be a bit more obvious: CCP is in the middle of planning a massive re-work of starbases / POSs. I wish I could talk more about their specific plans but I think it's safe for me to say that they are... comprehensive, and the CSM is giving lots of full-throated advice on that front. If you aren't happy with the way the current system works, there is light on the horizon. It doesn't mean that other changes can't happen right now, and they can be asked for, but there are lots of "no brainer" things in the backlog that are all competing for the same pool of resources.

I have a better computer now because "I built that" or something.

Heh, I'm not sure it's fair to say that it is the biggest time sink, but it is certainly one of the biggest production bottlenecks.

I just had a revelatory moment

There is only 5 months remaining before the candidacy period opens for CSM 8, and only 6 months to the elections open, well 6 months and a couple of days.

Any news on when the CSM White paper will be done?

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

Hmmm.. Not sure on your dates, as CSM 7 will be in office until April afaik? v0v

As for the white paper changes, they should be finalized around / after the December summit but CCP Xhangen is the man who will make the final call and publish.

Last years schedule for the CSM elections

The schedule for the elections is as follows:

February 8th to 22nd – Candidacy application period opens
February 22nd – Publication of the list of approved candidates; nomination stage begins
February 29th – List of candidates who passed nomination stage published
March 7th – Voting opens
March 21st – Voting closes
March 24th – Results announced during Fanfest keynote.
April 4th – CSM 7 take office
April 3rd, 2013 – CSM 8 take office

So as I said 5 months to the candidacy applications open and CSM 7s term ends on April 3rd when CSM 8 takes office.

As to the white paper that sounds great.

That schedule probably needs to be updated due to the fact that the 'winners' are announced at the FanFest keynote, which will be taking place later in April as part of CCP's 10 year anniversary.

In that case an updated schedule would be very helpful as it means they are either extending CSM7s term or not having a CSM for over a month.Lol

Why was self-destruct nerfed and what does the CSM think about it?

What are the CSM's opinions on the Ethnic Relations skill removal/change?

What does the CSM think about the way the new barge/exhumer attributes were applied to the old models?

It was a bad / dumb skill. I also think racial diversity in corps is good.

If you are talking about how barges as a whole were re-balanced, I think it's mostly a good thing. Time will tell if tweaks need to be made but I'm happy CCP added some true variety to the ship class.

I think the following post points out really well why the populous needs educating on the CSM

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=149540&find=unread

And these people are the forum users not the 70% who don't use the forums.

Like I have said before at CSM election time I would like everyone to actually have to go to a site with a blurb about the CSM and its function and 2 big buttons, abstain and Vote.

That way people might actually figure out what the CSM do or at least what number CSM we are up to.

I don't disagree to a point, but you also have to take one thing into account - people have to WANT to know what is going on. A lot of people that play EVE are very casual about it all. I've exchanged eve mails with players that when I pointed them at a dev blog about a particular feature, I got a reply back along the lines of, "Wow, I didn't even know about these!" (dev blogs). This has happened... a few times. How do people know to mail / about the CSM, but not about dev blogs? How do people read the dev blogs but not know about the CSM? ~it is a mystery~ ShockedSmile

That is why I believe in giving them a blurb about the CSM and 2 buttons.

That way if people don't care and don't want to know they are done in literally 2 clicks.

1)Click on the Voting popup
2) enter account info for secure login
3) click Abstain,

Taking them no more than 1 minute in a whole year.

And then we have good stats on the number of people that don't care, compared to no one really knowing if it is where they don't know what it is.

Maybe they should add a bit to the NPE about the CSM, Dev blogs and forums. Nothing long but just a quick pop-up showing that these might be useful to them as players.

As to " How do people know to mail / about the CSM, but not about dev blogs? How do people read the dev blogs but not know about the CSM? ~it is a mystery~"

Yep I will admit it is a mystery but then again I blah blah a lot on forums, read a pile of blogs, read several news sites and I still miss piles of stuff.

Edit: Oh one thing I did want to know that you might be able to answer as i have not managed to find it anywhere, is their lore behind the CSM for the sake of the RP crowd?

Pretty disappointing considering yourself, Hans and Two Step all agreed before and during voting week that these things needed looking at, and you would make it so this time around - and they aren't even mentioned in the minutes at all.

Frankly, I'm sick of posting up this stuff 50 different times in an attempt to get a straight answer out of you regarding topics you were very adamant about during voting week - I don't delete my mail, so I have all of it from that time period. Every time I ask a question, you say "look, shiny stuff you got last month and more coming".

Either - you lied or rather "misspoke" as politicians never lie, you ****** up along the lines of unified inventory and forgot, or you have just decided since that you just don't really give a ****.

I must say, at least with Mittani he didn't try all these political games and would just come out and say "**** you and your miners" or some such and he'd have done that during vote week, not 6 months later. And I'm no fan of his.

Thanks for the insight. Hope your relationship with CCP is great, and you have some wonderful pictures from Iceland from all this.

As I've said many times, the minutes are not the end all, be all of the CSM's interactions with CCP. We actually talk to them more than just 3 days in a six month period. We agreed it needed looking at and we did ask about it. You don't like what we've been told but are continuing to rage at us about it. v0v

I've spent more than a little time answering your questions and giving you the answers that I actually HAVE. If you want me to make some stuff up, you've got the wrong 'politician'.

Sorry, I'm not going to grant your wish by living up to whatever nonsense you've brewed in your own head. You seemed determined to convince yourself that since you aren't getting exactly what you want when you want it that I somehow don't give a ****. Because you PERSONALLY aren't getting what YOU want. It's been asked about and there's been no movement for the reasons I've previously stated.

Plainly - To my knowledge, CCP isn't going to change this until they start the POS re-work, which should include tweaks to the existing starbases. That means early - mid next year (it's not 100% locked in yet). No amount of screaming and yelling and demanding will change this. That is what we know NOW. Maybe it will change, but I doubt it.

I'm afraid I'm gonna need more than that. What exactly was the issue with the self destruct? Was there some kind of exploit? Because I really can't see what anyone could gain from SD-ing apart from denying enemies that can't kill something in under 2 minutes some loot, and that would be the intended function of a self destruct mechanism, right? And without that function all it does is basicly allow you to slowly trash ships in space. Or am I missing something here?

Quote:

Yeah ok, I don't object to the removal, but why replace it with a random skill I never asked for? Just to keep clone costs up?

About the barges/exhumers, don't you think they kinda rushed it? IMO It looks a bit ugly. There were less ugly solutions possible by just switching the models, or just using Hulk/Covetor model variations for all the ships. Here, let me explain by linking this post of mine.
Combat pilots, who have a far larger field of ships to choose for get new ship( model)s quite frequently, and now the miners, who mostly have only a few ships designed for them and only have Orca as something new, have to do with badly repurposed, "second hand stuff" with old models that no longer really fit what the new designs are about.

I will take second hand stuff happily compared to the fact that the originals were just tinfoil with some mining lasers strapped to the outside.
