Skill System to be Further Sanitized by Ascension?

It would appear that 3 more rare skills will be removed with Ascension, further robbing the skill system of its legacy. An inspection of character skill profiles on the test server indicates the following skills will be removed:

Black Market Trading - the last of 3 "creation only" skills that were unique to specific Race/Bloodline/Ancestory profiles of characters created early in the game's existence.

Mobile Factory Operation, and

Mobile Refinery Operation - two skills that were temporarily, mistakenly seeded but not implemented "way back when".

2016.12.13 Edit: I'm pleased to say that the rare skills have been retained, at least for now! With today's release, the three skills now display in the new skill sheet. Great news for those that have spent billions of ISK to have the skills, and for us old guys who still get a kick out of having such things!

I'm just waiting for the moment they make Astronautics engineering have an use and reseed it. That's going to be a real gut punch.

I hope you're not one of the guys that paid 30-60b for it in recent months!

Interestingly, Astronautic Engineering sticks around, which, as you say, suggests that it might still have a chance of being implemented at some point. It happened with Salvage Drone Operation. Or maybe not... the three departing skills remained in the game without being implemented for a decade.

No, I haven't bought it. I suspect it might be reimplemented when CCP give us the ability to build stargates and such. Then again, I might be wrong. It's a case of wait and see.

Would be nice to see an actual seeding of the DED Connections skillbook with an actual use that'd be beneficial in play.

I'm encouraged to say that I may be wrong... the rare skills appear to still be in the data, just not coded for display in the new skills window.

IMHO it would be great for the game if these rare, collectible skills were retained!

To add to that.

In a game where a new guy can buy every skill and max it out, Retaining skills from long ago is great thing for players who have paid subscriptions for years and years. I think those players have earned the right to keep something that sets them apart, and makes them unique.
It's just good customer service in my opinion.

Huh. How long was the Salvage Drone Operation skill/book in the game before salvage drones were introduced?

(still hoping for t2 salvage drones someday... wtb Salvage Drone Specialization skillbook, CCP... come on, there's Mining Drone Specialization and Ice Harvesting Drone Specialization now but salvage drones are still awaiting some extra love...)

Lol, years.... I can't even remember how many years. Astronautic Engineering could happen soon though... Blink

12.13 Edit - With today's release, the three missiong skills are back. Excellent!
