Dear Eve Online

Please let alphas use cynos and allow simultaneous log in.

I am interested in playing eve again as an omega customer
i don't like that i need to pay a second subscription just to be able to light a cyno

Thank you

As much as I don't like the limitations either, I don't blame CCP for doing so.

Since anyone can "technically" make as many separate Alpha accounts as they like, they could just create 20, then park each of the 60 toons in separate places with a cyno, and light them as needed, then CCP would need to step back in and make "more rules", and players just do the next thing.

I'd wait 6 months if I was you and see what happens with the current situation. If the level of possible abuse of the system stays low, then _possibly_ CCP might relax some restrictions, but I don't see cyno's and cloaks as part of those.

The reason we can't have nice things is because a minority always takes an arm when offered a hand.

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

A couple months ago I had the same thoughts as you in hoping to be able to get a free cyno alt, but I came to agree that it would be tactically unwise for CCP to allow it. They can't allow multi-boxing of alphas, that's a given, and if cyno training was allowed, because of free alts being so powerful with jump drives, it would give players a powerful incentive to find ways to get around the restrictions.

The sad reality is, if you can't afford a second account, you can't afford a jump capable capital ship. (in most cases)

It's hard to imagine actually interacting with other people to get a cyno lit in an MMO isn't it..

Did you try the freindship? I heard it is very good at lighting cynos.

It isn't just Cynos. As an industrialist I would put a "free" trade character in every market hub. Think of the gank fleets you could run with multiboxing Alpha characters. Cynos aren't just cynos - they're "eyes" in any system you want to put them in.

The current design lets people try the game without hitting a paywall at 2 weeks. It provides a few career paths for longer term Alpha gameplay and it gives returning vets a chance to check out the changes and reconnect socially without needing to subscribe.

That's a lot when you consider the price and it's good for the game - the sandbox is more entertaining with more players and some of them will join the community and subscribe.

How about while we are at it, let them have cloaks too?

NO!! The only reason the community did not go to Jita and burn everything on the Alpha release was how carefully thought out the whole thing was on CCPs part (seriously, that starting list of skills was one of the most impressive 1st drafts of an idea I have seen them propose/implement). Very few adjustments were made after the first draft, and the fact that the cyno and cloak were the main reasons most players were ok with it. If CCP had let alphas fit cyno or even just a cloak, the player count online would be thousands higher as every alliance in the game would put cloaky eyes in every system (concurrent login ban would not stop this). Heck the only reason the concurrent login ban is not being tested more by players is because of how limited an Alpha is in the first place.

Alphas are not meant to be free tools for vets. They are to intro new players to the game.
