CCP needs to FIX the STATION GPU Usage !!!!!!

In Station, FPS go down, GPU at 80+%, Heat gets high so fast that even the Drivers restart because the Screen freezes.

Outside,...chilled 40% Usage, even less when not outside of a Keepstar.

Using the Ship Tree Background - 20% GPU while docked in Station. This is the only solution at the moment for me...or completely disable the Shader. Because even on Medium if destroys my GPU.

If the Adverts in the Billboards are causing this issue, give us the Option to disable them !!!!!

More Graphic Options, especially for the Shader/HDR Effects (which are now all thrown together) !!!! Fog/Rendering Radius/no animated Gunturrets (but still be able to see the lasers, Missiles)

Before we had the Option to disable HDR, and this is where you made a big mistake and threw the Shader together with the HDR, not being able to disable it seperately. Now on MEDIUM SHADER the Game looks awful because the global lightning is disabled completely......

It is a BIG PROBLEM...for everyone.
And yes, i tried EVERYTHING that is possible on my end..everything. So please don´t post me "update your Drivers, update DirectX, clean your PC or Buy a 1080/R480...

CCP....you really need to fix it !

Another thing...btw. with Vsync OFF
Shader disabled - 700FPS in Station / 200FPS outside (Frames locked ???)
Shader High 45FPS/30FPS Drops while zooming in / 200FPS outside (Frames locked ???)

i made the test with Vsync off, normally i lock at 60Hz, but the frames drop in the Station and the Heat/GPU usage is absurd

Are you limiting the Frames outside in Space ?

A suggestion - DxDiag and some logs may help them understand the specific problem better. EvE has in built log tool, + DxDiag is always usefull to developers.

EVE Probe may also provide them more clues as to what is going on.

I have a GTX 980 and it would similarly hit 300+ FPS in station, with very high GPU usage. I fixed it by going into the EVE in-game menu, found the setting which says "Interval," and changed it from Interval Immediate to Interval One.

That fixed everything for me. My GPU usage went to normal, temps went down, FPS went to 60 (my monitor refresh rate). It did create a bit of input lag / floaty mouse effect, but considering EVE only accepts ship commands at 1 command a second (1000ms tickrate), it's not too bad. I wish there were a way to implement an arbitrary framerate cap/limit with EVE ( CCPls? :) ), but for now Interval One gets the job done.

If your monitor is 120Hz and you get 700 FPS, you are effectively wasting 580FPS a second into excess heat and electric bill. Keep VSYNC on (Interval One is equivalent to this), or otherwise cap your framerate to your monitor refresh rate. Otherwise the video card will run at red line full speed all the time, which is a tremendous waste.

However, I am concerned about your system. Even at 80-90% GPU, it should *NEVER* restart like that. I know you don't think there's anything wrong with the card, but ... double check that. If it's still under warranty, call your video card manufacturer. Right now. Also, check your temperatures with something like RealTemp.

If you find the card is hitting 90-100 degrees C, that is way, way too high - use compressed air, check your fans, and if you have no warranty, do all these things and the temps are still super high, you may have to take apart the graphics card's heatsink and apply new thermal paste or pads to it, especially if the card used to get lower temperatures and has gotten worse with years.

i really appreciate your infos and help my friend, but believe me, i know everything about Vsync, InputLag, Monitor Refreshrates, Tearing Effects, Anitaliasing, HDR ....the list is long.

Interval 1/Immediate is the integrated Vertical Synchronisation Option by CCP. And as i already wrote, i lock it at 60FPS/HZ and its still a mess with the GPU/Heat while i am docked. I just turned it off to make some tests, mostly because of the Frames being forced outside of the station by ccp.

No Problems in any other Tripple A Game with High Details. No Problems outside in Space. It is just the Station while spinning my ship around.

I talked to many other players, even with 1080Nvidia GPUs, they all have this massive GPU Load inside of the Station...which is totally not needed. Before CCP changed their Shader and put it together with the HDR globally, i ran 2 Clients with Shader HIGH, now i cant even run one. If the Card had any Technical Problem, it would also appear with other HighEndGames, which is not the Case.

I have an ASUS Amd Radeon 7870 - 2GB

But i can help you out with your Problem.

I searched a long time to lock the FRAMES in EVE ONLINE without VSYNC enabled. I wanted 120FPS (double my Monitor Refreshrate) without the annoying Input Lag. We used this "double HZ Frames, Vsync OFF Method" in Counterstrike and there was nearly no tearing effect and you had instant Mouse Input. Constant double/Tripple Frames than your Monitor Refreshrate feel way smoother than the spiking Framedrops with just Vsync off. Also it is healthier for your GPU and Electricity Bill.

After testing out DriverFPS Lock Options, half a dozen Tools i found the only Tool that is capable to interact with the EVE Engine was....

Dxtory
http://exkode.com/dxtory-features-en.html

You dont need all the Capture/Recording Options, all you need is one Thing...
https://puu.sh/uBvbM/f0beabe205.jpg at the bottom left.

The Option works on the fly...you dont need to restart the game or the Pc. Everytime you change the Number and switch back to EVE, the FPS are changed.

To deactivate all the other crap you dont need, just click through all the Tabs in Dxtory and uncheck the Option ath the Top (use by default).

But to be honest, after i set EVE to 120Frames, Vsync off, the game was stuttering while using the Camera and locking on targets from time to time. Frames were rockstable at 120 but somehow the EVE Engine could not handle this framelock without synchronizing it.

Maybe it works better for you with a 120HZ Monitor. good Luck !

I have similar problem....my fps in station is 30 fps, outside is 60-70 fps on interval immediate and high settings. Normally on the same settings when everything is ok (which is very rare) I have about 60-70 fps in station and more than 200 fps in space.
The problem is complete random! Sometimes is fixed it self or when I update my drivers but after 4-5 day again drop

Everything on my PC is updated.
I sent DXdiag and build logs but CCP couldn't fine solution

yeah station interiors are alot more demanding than space, they shouldn't be as demanding as they are though, theres nothing in there to show, just poor optimization

they should just bring back the option for a static background picture and/or optimise it better

+1 definitely.

Bring back static hangar image without rendering.

Yes, i know, its a nice station environment with fancy billboards, very immersive, i actually like it - for a few seconds. And i also know ir is a technical thing that isn't super easy to maintain, but come on.
I am in a station.
That means i am currently not actively playing or using other windows that block the view anyway. Nothing of the stuff i look at is actually animated in any way except some blinky lights.

Side note: Yes, i am actively rotating the billboards out of sight, because i find them annoying when i permanently see them flashing at the edge of my field of view while i am using the second monitor. Same goes for blinky lights, but theres hardly a place to rotate the camera to without them...

Im just so little away from actually recording how much energy is wasted additionally just from being in the hangar while i am afk and estimating how much that costs me when i sum it up over a year - and i'm using one client only.

Well, maybe its better to not know those figures...

I am recording ~55°C while docked (5° above undocked) and that is an absolute waste.

Crude workaround that has helped me: turn on the (old) map while in station. Not ideal, but hey.

Eid.

Ship Tree ! Is even better.
Just go into there and the GPU Usage drops down to nearly nothing

Very nice, i didnt know that, its works even better than the old map.
It sucks to have the ship tree open all the time, but hey, better than wasting money on the GPU.

Yeah. Crazy, but it works. CCP should realy do something serious about that and dustclouds....

Praise the Omnissiah!

Same experience here, massive GPU load increase while docked.
1920x1080 windowed mode
All settings on low or medium if available
Station: 65% GPU
Ship tree: 20% GPU
Undocked: 30ish%

Card: Asus 960 Strix

Just ridiculous. There's no way that sitting in the station with settings at low should constantly run the GPU at 2x playing the game. Something is drastically wrong.

I have to turn my resolution down to even think about running two clients because of this, and I'm getting mystery crashes when I have all of my accounts open and only the two that are subbed logged in. Yes, I keep all of the unused windows minimized or it wouldn't even do two.

Yeap happen after last 2 updates. Used to run 5 clients no issue 3 on 1 tower 2 on the other max settings. have gtx1060 ,now cant even keep 2 running or get socket close high cpu gpu problems. when in stations docked or dust clouds.

Before had low cpu and gpu with 5 clients on same tower. Cant even do that since last 2 updates somthing changed hope they find it fix it. F ShockedSad

Ya, high station fps is cruelly. Please fix this.

The best feature about citadels is the outside view and I live in that mode. I'd rather see that then my ship that's barried in menu's anyway AND it lowers my GPU Temps.

I wonder if Eve gets a commission for any of there customs whom get a GPS upgrade due to the accelerated wear and tear it puts on our cards?

Or if this is Eves way of countering docked players. We should all spend more time unlocked anyways! :)

T3 immune to remote reps. They should be the most powerful solo/small gang ships but not useful for large fleets as T2 ships should be used. Remove Insurance from game. Ban Frigate Pirate Ships from Novice FW Plexs. Buy me Ice cream please!

Why not just use an fps limiter or vsync? Inputlag, when eve uses 1hz ?

EVE - Online Launcher [Linux] Installs, launches character prefixes (both SISI & Tranquility). Simplescreenrecorder shm inject

Please put some effort and read all the Info in the Thread before posting please...so you know exactly what we discuss and point out here.

Also, "Inputlag, Eve uses 1hz" is an Information you give here, that besides the fact that it is totally funny, also makes no sense for the Problem we discuss. and furthermore is totally wrong...in the term used and in meaning overall.

Again,...if you really want to help with your knowledge, please start reading from the beginning...but thank you for the push Commander.

UPDATE

I'm not saying this is anybody else's problem, but this is what fixed my crashes and high GPU load in station environment.

New PSU.
Seriously.
No other changes to settings or hardware. The PSU was the last thing it could be, I had already upgraded Mobo, CPU, RAM, GPU.
My GPU load is now less than half what it was with two client windows up on two monitors before PSU replacement. CPU is also running -10C cooler at same load levels. My GPU loads are very similar (+/-10%) docked or undocked.

Hope this is good info for people having issues.

Honestly, it's ridiculous!
EVE is not part of 3dMark dx11 test program.

I created a bug report.
