I just took every ISK that Bombers Bar had - AMA

Just robbed Bombers Bar of every ISK they had (just a measly 22 billion) because I couldn't stand the internal drama anymore that's been going on for months. Ask me anything!

Assets and transaction logs

The background story: Let's start this at the beginning.. I've been a part of the Bombers Bar community since the early days and I've seen my fair share of drama in BB in all that time. Most notably I've been around when Jayne Fillon failed to hijack BB and instead poached the memberbase and separated Spectre Fleet from BB. I'm still salty about what happened back then in Winter 2013.

Fast forward a few years to a few months from now and increasingly more drama started in BB which ended in the "forceful removal" of certain people that were deemed problematic (I was not really involved in all of that, just was my usual bitter self).

So the actual story begins around where PL awox'd something and Olmeca Gold went mad on Reddit about it. If you missed that drama, look it up on Reddit! Certainly something juicy ;)
Anyway, Olmeca was in charge of the website and pretty much everyone but me decided to just give him the middle finger (he only wanted a few billion isk to hand it over) and BB Leadership was so busy with damage control about non-issues that they didn't give a second thought about who they're actually going to throw out. Olmeca swore revenge on the BB people that wronged him which in turn created more internal drama (it involved kicking Olmeca out of that wormhole, killing Olmeca's citadel and other stuff).
I was in contact with Olmeca beyond the generic threat mails he sent to everyone and knew what specifically he's been up to and wished him Good fun! ;). After that nothing happened there for a few weeks until yesterday when he wrote a mail about being back in EVE after a short break and intent on kicking them out of that wormhole.
Anything else that happened in the few weeks before that is basically just me being me (autism and a direct way of speaking), trying to keep others from making even more ******** decisions and getting the "*******" brand for that.
A few weeks ago one of our FCs, Mar5hy, came back after a longer break (he got banned for botting, but I guess CCP was nice enough to unban him?) and as is his custom decided to run that shitshow that is Bombers Bar. Tried to fix problems that aren't existing, making decisions all by himself and me complaining about it as is my custom.
There was also a matter about some sort of agreement with Spectre which split the FCs in two (guess who made that "agreement" without talking about it with anyone else and who complained about that ****). Crapton of drama over a non-issue because people feel "offended" by history lessons. Why listen to the wise guy that experienced all that crap a few times already when we can just ignore that "******* bittervet" and buy into all the sweet talking, right? There were even more instances of Mar5hy abusing his powers over non-issues, other people (not only me, just I was the most direct one as usual. Got a bittervet title to uphold) complaining about it and nothing changing.

Then yesterday Olmeca started his crusade on the wormhole, I mentioned in a side-note on Slack that we've known about this for weeks and get accused of apparently not sharing "vital information" (disclaimer: I actually did tell the relevant people the relevant stuff 4 or 5 weeks ago), among other things. Get to read a shitload of sarcasm directed toward me, get provoked to nowhere, get called an ******* repeatedly and then, to top it, get called out to "stop the drama" (that I didn't even start, mind you). Resulted today in me being kicked off Slack by the almighty powers of Mar5hy at which point I was so fed up with all that bullshit that I decided to take all the money and give the current BB leadership what they deserve.

There are basically two kinds of people in BB leadership:
1) The few who actually contribute in a substantial way.
2) Shortsighted lazy fucks who expect babysitting and getting fed. People that want to give orders but don't want to do anything about realizing their ideas and are basically just annoying lazy fucks that are getting in the way and think themselves all-knowledgable. They start having a say about things, they tell you what and how you have to do something and if you refuse doing it their way, you get kicked from whatever you've built.

For a long time, we had abundance of the first group, but over the last few months it became an increasing amount of the latter, to the great frustration of the vets. If you complained, you got brushed off as being old and bitter.

I decided that I wasted enough of my valuable time for a community that basically doesn't even want me anymore. Only stayed there out of loyalty, but the BB that I once knew and loved is long gone now and today, after getting repeatedly the shaft by random cunts that should not have any authority in BB, I accepted that it's not coming back and that all this **** is no longer worth my time.

You don't give us much of a story, Linus. Were you actually involved in any of the drama you mention? Is there a narrative?

'Ask me anything' is rarely as good as 'It happened like this....'

If your tale goes something like 'Get Roles - Get Rich - Get Out' - we've probably heard about (or done) it ourselves. If there's more to it than that, and you can outdo our own TheInternet TweepsOnline TheInternet - why then, I'm all ears!

Oh, there's a lot to it.. This story goes a few years back, even, to Winter 2013!
I'll write it down in a few hours when I have more time. Promise!

PS: No, it's not one of these usual corp theft stories.. I had access to that money (and more) for over a year now, but only recent events (as in a few hours ago) made me all take it and go.

Hmm I don't know about this. Claims theft but clearly had been given access to this money and simply used/withdrew it. I'd say if anything this was a case of reappropriation

PS plz post this potential epic story in the pirate story thread. Bob knows it needs love :D. You can find it stikied at the top of C&P

Apart from the use of a word which you somehow failed to asterisk-out, I rather enjoyed this diverting piece of drama. I'm not sure that 'enjoyed' is the right word, but you get my drift.

It does occur to me that, in relieving BB of the isk, you will also have affected those people you mention as being not part of the company of folks whom you disparage. I suppose one has to have a sort of 'disconnect' where such issues are concerned.

It was also a failure on the part of the leadership not to spot this coming several leagues off - if not from you then certainly from some other disaffected party.

Internal politics and ego-trumpeting seem to dilute or destroy the effectiveness of many corps and alliances in EVE. My own theory is that the people who adopt roles in such organisations are not always qualified to do so. Even in RL organisations such tensions exist, but they're usually held at bay by having people who are very good at what they do and at managing people. The opportunities to walk away with cash in a RL organisation - even for a Director - are necessarily limited.

It's difficult to know who to trust in this game. They say 'trust no-one', but at some point you do have to give people access to stuff which has some value. You can only do this on the basis of past behaviour; the rest is up to fate.

I'd forgotten about the Pirate thread; haven't looked at it for months (?years). It certainly sounds that sort of story, though I maintain it's an embellished Roles-Rob-Run tale. Entertaining (that's the word!) stuff Linus; good luck with your small fortune!

Truth be told, they all knew what I did in my early years in EVE (played 2003 to 2009 with a character that I'm never going to associate myself with, for obvious reasons). I didn't keep it secret that I used to scam and steal on a daily basis.
But honestly, up until the shitshow yesterday I never even thought about taking that money and running off. I did consider leaving BB a few times, but it never was my intention to do any harm in the process. That opinion, however, changed after recent events and while I never directly hinted at it, it shouldn't have surprised anyone either that in the end I made off with it, because I complained more and more about all the crap that's going on. Yet not one of them saw this coming and the last famous words I read were along the lines of me "showing where my true loyalties are".

It's pocket change, really. As someone with trillions of ISK, this wasn't so much about the money as it was about sticking it to those guys ;)

Could fill an entire thread about my "relationship" with Nova.. I kept him out of here intentionally because, even though I continued to bang heads with him, he wasn't relevant in my decision to take that ISK.

Why are you doing an AMA here an not on Reddit? I thought that was where all the cool kids hang out.

I despise Reddit and would never create an account on there.

But you didn't. You didn't stick to to the Bombers Bar leadership. You stuck it to the Bombers Bar community that benefited from the Bomber's Bar SRP program that the ISK was exclusively used for.

Exclusively? You got the facts mixed up here. I can tell you exactly how much money used to go where and it wasn't nearly as much for SRP as you think it was.
