Low Sec Gate Guns

When gate camping in LS is it best to kill the guns? What kind of firepower do they take?

Are there any consequences besides a loss or rep and sec status?

1. You can't kill gate guns
2. If you are the only ship on grid gates gun DPS will slowly increase to overcome any tank
3. Warping 251km off the gate itself will deaggro gate guns. You can then return to gate and they won't shoot you(until you aggro again)
4. A simple active tanked t1 logi will fix all gate gun issues

Which is why you are pretty much immune to solo frigs or dessies on the gate.

Unless they have logi friends.

Which should be flashing yellow, and subject to attack.

Also applies to cruisers on up, and battleships should be able to tank lowsec gate guns basically forever, even without logi help.

If you doubt any of this, simply fly into Rancer/Amamake and see what happens......Bear

Gate guns get bugged some times and continue shooting even beyond 251km. Or if you warp away and return.
Also make sure your drones, if you use them, don't aggress gate guns instead of the targets.

this part is false, for example you can permatank gate guns with a passive tanked onyx

Neat trick: gate guns only respond to the initial act of aggression if it happens in their range. If you go suspect shooting at someone somewhere other than in range of the guns (or get gun aggro, warp off, and come back), you can shoot that same player before your suspect flag wears off and guns will not shoot you anymore. I've pulled some interesting tag-team kills this way.
