  • DX11 with Dev Version in EVE Technology and Research Center

    OK---I'm in also......Using ccp-master & latest as the wine version. My rig is a bit stronger---i7 3.7g & 16g ram-SLI nVidia 960GTX with 4g of ram each. Running everything on high in EVE settings--Dammmm, it looks great...bit of bloom, but all-in-all nicer than DX9. Don't think that I'll be going back to DX9 anytime soon......

    Any idea on the black windows? I've made them as small as possible, but you're right---I didn't know how much I relied on the sides.....Not as bad as if my screen space was smaller (I'm a LG 32in ultra-wide), even so---seeing from the sides is very important ....

  • Launcher partly working in Debian Buster/Sid (resolved) in EVE Technology and Research Center

    Yes--It was the "beta" instead of "release" that was causing the launcher to only partly load.....Interesting.

  • Launcher partly working in Debian Buster/Sid (resolved) in EVE Technology and Research Center

    FOUND IT........In the preferences I had set "beta" channel----changed that to "release" channel & the login window completely loaded. I'm going to try a login & see if everything else works.

  • Launcher partly working in Debian Buster/Sid (resolved) in EVE Technology and Research Center

    Hmmmm---I'm on Buster/Sid & keep things updated daily, so I don't think that java is out of date....I saw a couple of SSLv3 errors also--redid all my links to SSL on my system--tried rechecking/reinstalled all of the MS stuff---corefonts,etc,etc...no change. Really starting to run out of options. I'm starting to think I might rebuild/reinstall everything this coming weekend :(

    Well--here is the Google Drive link to the logfile: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6h1RP64aWh0SldlNTZsUXliYWs

  • Launcher partly working in Debian Buster/Sid (resolved) in EVE Technology and Research Center

    Well--I tried the libgtk install--no dice. Found the xaudio2-7 thread & tried that--no dice...Looking like I can't post the complete logfile here (too long), but I don't see anything that stands out in it.....I'll find a way to post it.

    OK--It's not the qtwebengine that is at fault---I installed the same version that EVE uses on my system & created the folder translations/qtwebengine_locales. Installed all the available translations into it & tried a terminal start again. Still the partial launcher start.

    Terminal only shows:

    dean@linux:~$ '/media/Storage/EVE/evelauncher/evelauncher.sh'
    [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; SteamAPI_IsSteamRunning() failed.
    [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; unable to locate a running instance of Steam, or a local steamclient.so.

    Of course, with Steam started--I get no comments during launcher start---just a partly operational launcher.

  • Launcher partly working in Debian Buster/Sid (resolved) in EVE Technology and Research Center

    An interesting problem that IS NOT related to the libcrypto/libssl problems. With the change from Stretch/Sid to Buster/Sid I get a partial launcher start---window starts & at the bottom I see "Please wait". Nothing happens after that for as long as I have the window open. At no time will the launcher move to the "normal" login information. I do have access to the preferences in the right upper corner & can tick for login from there, but the launcher still will not start the client...I can also start loglite, but again nothing is displayed.

    Terminal looks like:

    dean@linux:~$ '/media/Storage/EVE/evelauncher/evelauncher.sh'
    [0709/115902:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(291)] locale_file_path.empty() for locale
    Installed Qt WebEngine locales directory not found at location /media/Storage/EVE/evelauncher/translations/qtwebengine_locales. Trying application directory...
    Qt WebEngine locales directory not found at location /media/Storage/EVE/evelauncher/qtwebengine_locales. Trying fallback directory... Translations MAY NOT not be correct.
    [0709/115902:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(291)] locale_file_path.empty() for locale
    [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; SteamAPI_IsSteamRunning() failed.
    [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; unable to locate a running instance of Steam, or a local steamclient.so.

    I have started the application with Steam running in the background with the only change being the last 2 lines do not show up.

    I am "assuming" that this is from the qt fault---anyone else having this problem?

  • Launcher not working after update (SOLVED) in EVE Technology and Research Center

    (Groan.....) Not another ssl problem....... THANK YOU for the "heads up" This is the 3rd time I've run into a ssl issue......will be glad when that is ironed out finally.

  • Launcher not working after update (SOLVED) in EVE Technology and Research Center

    The launcher wanted to do an update this morning (7 am Pacific time) & I OK'd it. Afterward, nothing would start. I try to start it in terminal & I see quite a period of time downloading---but no launcher & after the download period everything just hangs. I do not see anything in logs....generally without a clue as to which direction to go to find answers for this.......

    Running Debian Sid (all updates current)...no major problems with the old launcher.

    See the posts below---was a ssl problem.

  • WineTricks Settings? in EVE Technology and Research Center

    This is what I have so far----

    Install in winetricks:

    vcrun 2005, 2008, 2010, 2013

    d3dx9_36

    corefonts & tahoma

    In winecfg: add a override to disable d3d11 (old info--not needed now?)
    Edit: removed that & tried to start without DX9 checked--would not start.

    Changed to Default to Windows 7 -- no change

  • WineTricks Settings? in EVE Technology and Research Center

    Wondering what WineTricks settings anyone is using?
    I see that the default is XP---Should that be changed to Win 7 or 8?
    I'm running Wine-Staging 2.5--is DX11 working yet?
    Any DDL's to install that might help performance?

    Thoughts or Ideas?

    Forgot : For those who do not know---

    In a terminal: WINEPREFIX=/home/YOURHOME/.eve/wineenv winetricks --gui

    to get to the settings.....

  • EvE Linux linstall script on debian testing not working in EVE Technology and Research Center

    OK---Old issue "cropped" up again....libcrypto & libssl need to be setup in your evelauncher folder. Thread is here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6858907#post6858907 Install libssl.so.1.0.0 & libcrypto.so.1.0.0 to the folder & symlink them to the plain .so file (I.E.--libssl.so.1.0.0 > libssl.so for example) & then retry your install.......I had a problem with BOINC in my SID install & had reinstalled libssl which "b0rked" my install of EVE.... You will need to go back a bit in the debian repos to get the files & then just open them with Archive Manager .... If you need help....PM me & I'll point you the right way.

  • EvE Linux linstall script on debian testing not working in EVE Technology and Research Center

    I just ran into this one also....have had all of it working until yesterday & now I'm getting the launcher just hanging.....

    I'll take some time tomorrow & see what was installed in the last 48 hours that could have caused this. Running Debian Sid.

  • Eve launcher fault in Debian Sid in EVE Technology and Research Center

    Well---I re-downloaded the launcher & replaced the stuff I had with the "fresh" bits.....Gee--it starts now. Somehow, it got "corrupted" (I guess) & the new bits run just fine.......Guess I need to really read the fine print sometimes.......

    "Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

  • Eve Online Launcher Error in Linux Mint 17.03 in EVE Technology and Research Center

    Looks like I'm having the same problem as you are....when did this start?

  • Eve launcher fault in Debian Sid in EVE Technology and Research Center

    Greetings all!!! Had not restarted for the last couple of days (Friday evening Mar 3rd)& did normal updates over the weekend.....Restarted this morning & got this upon trying to start EVE:

    dean@linux:~$ '/home/dean/EVE/evelauncher/evelauncher'
    This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "xcb"
    in "".

    Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, xcb.

    Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

    Anyone point me to the direction I need to look?
