  • EVEMon - The Open Source Character Planner (v3.0.0) in EVE Gameplay Center

First, I would like to apologize for not providing any support these last days.

As you may have heard I'm retiring from EVE and EVEMon tomorrow, so I was in the process of finding the next EVEMon lead dev and preparing things for the transition.

That said, Blitz Bandis will be the next EVEMon lead dev.

There will be no more support from me for EVEMon from this thread.
Probably Blitz will create a new thread to announce new releases and support you guys.
So be a little patients until Blitz gets familiar with the EVEMon ecosystem.

    That's all from me ppl.
    Thanks for all the fish.

Keep Calm and take care in RL.

    Desmont McCallock signing off.

I'm in the delighted position to announce that Blitz Bandis will be the next EVEMon lead dev.

That said, I would like to ask you all to have a little patients until Blitz gets familiar with the EVEMon ecosystem.

Thank you all for your kind words. They were touching.

It was a pleasure being part of this great community, and supporting EVEMon was the least I could do.

    Take care in RL ppl.

    Till we meet again...

  • EVESDEToSQL (v3.5.0) in EVE Technology and Research Center

    Releasing version 3.5.0.

This is the last release from me, folks.

    Take care in RL.

Thank you guys for all your kind words.
    Still accepting applications.

  • EVESDEToSQL (v3.5.0) in EVE Technology and Research Center

    Releasing version 3.5.0-RC1.

    - Added support to import the new SDE format.
    - Added ability to handle duplicate quantity entries in blueprints.yaml file.

Notice: This version will present you some WARNINGS due to the following facts:

    1. The names for the mapDenormalize table are imported via a lookup on the invNames table or file.
    2. The names and descriptions for the mapLandmarks table are imported via a lookup on the trnTranslation table or file.

You will notice some data inconsistencies in the mapDenormalize table for the names in comparison with the legacy format.
    Don't blame the software.

It shouldn't be anything on CCP's side as you are the only one reporting this issue.

Well, that worked. Though EVEMon still loves to alternate between completely normal and timing out. I guess I just have to live with this. Ugh

OK there is another thing that you can do.
When you click the "magnifying glass" in the window that pops up there is an option to increase the timeout. The default is 20 seconds but there are options to upper the value. I think the max is 1 minute.

Older player here, I updated to 3.0 today and EVEMon suddenly stopped reading my APIs. I just get "An error occured while querying the account status for API-key X" for all my three API-keys.

Is this a known issue or should I submit a bug-report?
Click on the 'magnifying glass' of the notification for more info.
Alternatively use the built-in API Tester tool to ensure that you can access the API server. If not, check your Internet Options settings or most likely your Internet security software is blocking the traffic.

New player, just installed Evemon. Input the API information, did the import. I have two characters, both pics with their names come up in Evemon. When I click on one of them it opens to a generic page - there is no data other than the picture and character name being imported.

I have verified the API and it's setup, and uninstalled and reinstalled Evemon.

    Suggestions?

I was able to add tabs that do include information from my character, however the tabs for skills information, skills queue, employment history information, and contact information all say that the information is not available. I can see all of the transactions I've made since I started the game, all of the emails I've received, but not my skills.

    Solved the problem.
Ensure that your API key access mask is not zero.

Every time I try and install, it says I don't have the right version of .net installed. Halfway through installing that dotnetfx file or something, it will randomly try and restart my PC, then after 2 minutes it will stop (after saying EVEMon installer was preventing me from shutting down), and claim it failed to install. This is on Windows 10.

I got around it by installing .net 4.6.1 manually myself from Microsoft's website, but just figured you might wanna be aware.
Nothing wrong with EVEMon as I have tested the installer in 3 diff machines. Something is up with your WinX but never the less manually installing .NET version is the right alternative action in this case.

It's a false positive. Nothing to worry about. Add an exception in AVG for EVEMon.

  • Proposed Changes to the Static Data Export (SDE) in EVE Technology and Research Center

Yet another data inconsistency with names.

    select
    invNames.itemID,
    invNames.itemName as InvNames_itemName,
    invUniqueNames.itemName as InvUniqueNames_itemName
    from dbo.invNames as invNames
    join dbo.invUniqueNames as invUniqueNames on invNames.itemID = invUniqueNames.itemID
    where invNames.itemName <> invUniqueNames.itemName collate Latin1_General_BIN

This time the query returns 6994 rows.

  • Retiring from EVE in EVE Technology and Research Center

I have announced my retirement from EVE here .

Before I go I would like to find my successor for EVEMon, so read about it in the above announcement.

Regarding the tools I have made while being with EVE, EVECacheParser and EVESDEToSQL, here is the thing.

EVECacheParser is no longer maintained. Simply because it was created to scrap the market data from the EVE client's cache and upload it to EMDR. Those data are now available directly from EVE CREST.
The feature in EVEMon that used EVECacheParser has been removed in v3 (to be honest after CCP moved servers [see Tech III DevBlog] it stopped working anyways due to the IP change).

EVESDEToSQL will get a final update to include the code-base to support the new SDE format (though at this point the new SDE has many data inconsistency issues, or the legacy SDE has it, CCP hasn't responded to any of my questions about it).
After that it's up to you guys to fork the repo and continue development.

Both projects are open source in Bitbucket, so they can be easily accessed.
You can freely move them to GitHub if you like.

    That's all guys.

    Fly safe.

  • EVEMon Lead Dev position fulfilled in EVE Communication Center

"All good things come to an end."

I'm sure all of you know that quote.
That point in time has come for me.
After more than eight (8) years with EVE and more than seven (7) with EVEMon, I have decided to retire my space boots.

Some of you may say "What's the reason?".
Some of you may say "Good riddance. I won't miss you.".
And some of you may say "Can I have your stuff?".

To the latest my answer is "NO".
To the earliest my answer is "I just got tired. Basically I stopped playing EVE since I became EVEMon's Lead Dev.".
To the others my answers is "I feel the same about you. Move along.".

A few of you may wonder "What will become of EVEMon?".
Well, that's the reason I'm announcing my retirement, to also announce the position's opening.

EVEMon Development Team is looking for the next Lead Dev.

    Requirements for the position:
    1. A fairly good knowledge of .NET/C# (WinForms)
    2. Familiar with git VCS.
    3. Basic knwoledge of CCP's XML API.

That's it. That's all it takes.

If you believe you can become the next EVEMon Lead Dev, get in touch either via my EVEMail, until the 15th of May 2016 or via EVEMon's email (can be found on our official website).
Those who are considering for applying shouldn't be intimidated from the responsibilities of the posiiton, I will be available to help out and guide the person(s) who will take over, even after I have left EVE.

My subscribtion expires on 16th of May 2016 (07:30 EVE Time) and I won't be extending it, so I won't be able to respond to you after that date via EVE Forums or EVEMail, though I will still be able to respond via EVEMon's email.

    That's it people.
    Desmont McCallock signing off.

    Fly safe. o7

why no auto-updater? i get that you're ditching the now-closed battleclinic, but a text box with some random github page doesn't instill confidence. not to mention, a clickable URL would have been nice. i hope this doesn't become the norm as we move on.

I wanted to separate the distribution of v2 from v3 due to the many breaking changes. Clickable link is not possible in a .net message box (thought there are some ways to simulate it, I didn't wanted to get into that depth).

Next releases of v3 will be distributed via EVEMon's auto-updater though (via the v3 separate channel).

All names are in invNames, so you can look them up, and insert them. This is for asteroid belts, moons, planets, stars, stations.
Just out of curiosity I wanted to give this a try, so I did some checking via

    select
    invNames.itemID,
    invNames.itemName as InvNames_itemName,
    mapDenormalize.itemName as MapDenormalize_itemName
    from dbo.invNames as invNames
    join dbo.mapDenormalize as mapDenormalize on invNames.itemID = mapDenormalize.itemID

The result comes back with 122 rows, proving another data inconsistency in SDE.

    This is getting nowhere.
