Big thanks to Telegram Sam - I look forward to this contest every year.

Also huge thanks to the judges and the sponsors for your hard work and generosity.

I'm honored that both of my stories placed this year. Congratulations to all the winners, particularly Voodoo and Sugar against some of the stiffest competition I've seen so far.

    Yeah, what he said!

    Thanks to all o7

  • Large-scale fiction launched (59bil isk or so in prizes) in EVE Communication Center

    Oh yeah!

Been sat on a draft story for about 9 months waiting for this!

  • Dubai Eve Meet - 30th October in EVE Gameplay Center

Quick reminder that we're holding a pub meet in Dubai on 30th October. 6pm+ at Nelson's English Pub in the Media Rotana.

    &

    http://sandciderandspaceships.blogspot.co.uk/p/eve-dubai.html

Nothing formal. Just meeting in a pub for some serious internet spaceship talk.

Eve-Bet will give 100m ISK to everyone who turns up and a faction cruiser for the first 10 to arrive.

CCP has sent a box of Eve stuffz(tm) including T-shirts, badges, postcards (spaceships over Iceland) and a nice big book!

There are a couple of PLEX to give away too.

If you play in the sandbox in the desert we hope to see you there!

Any queries drop me an Eve Mail, grab me on Twitter (@drackarn) or email my character name at gmail.com.

  • Can I write a book or books in the Eve universe? in EVE Communication Center

You need to speak to the CCP legal team (still in Atlanta?) CCP Manifest should be your first contact. I write novella and novelletes based in Eve and include a "not for profit" disclaimer at the start which was provided by CCP's legal team. As with most things, making money off the back off CCP's IP requires excellence and a lot of red tape. Easier just to do it for fun unless you meet a very high standard.

  • Stepping into Faction Warfare in EVE Gameplay Center

Overview is one of the biggest issues I come across. As a "Security Status Challenged" individual I get many new-bro's charging into my plex and engaging when we are in same militia.

Perhaps the 'pilot in same militia' needs to override the 'Pilot is a filthy piwat'

Another one is the allied militia thing. Once they get the overview right, they then get spanked by someone they thought was friendly but is actually in the allied militia and simply uses that to gank people. I have used this trick before to get close to stabbed farmers and triple scram them. Then again they deserve to die.... horribly.

As someone previously posted, if we decouple the alliances in faction war and go for some 4-way action in FW this won't be an issue.

  • Official Video/Streaming Toolkit in EVE Communication Center

On SiSi only it would be amazing to have some slash commands for the following:-

    Turn off your Avatar
Turn off clipping so you can "fly" around the CQ/hanger and get video/screenshots at different angles.

Tried to find someone at Fanfest to talk to this about after a few others said it was a good idea but was unable to find anyone.

l0rd carlos also made a great comment about ships on green screens. We can have avatars on green screen, why not ship previews?

  • Eve Dubai - 30th October 2015 in EVE Gameplay Center

Calling all Capsuleers in the real sandbox,

I've been thinking about it for a while and following Fanfest this year I've decided to try and run an Eve meet here in the Middle East region. I thought Dubai would be the best choice as it is a global travel hub and probably has the most potential players within easy travel distance.

Its basically going to be a social event. No presentations, no talks, no computers. Just a group of Eve Players having a drink, socializing and talking about important internet spaceships.

I have no idea how many we'll get (three minimum I think but who really knows) and whether this will be the only one or whether there are enough players around here to make this a regular thing.

I guess we'll see soon (tm)

    When
    Friday 30th October 2015 from 6pm

    Where
Nelson's Pub which is located in the Media Rotana Hotel, Dubai. Note that its 21's and over in Dubai's bars so please nobody underage. Sorry.

    Swag
We'll have an Eve-O swagbag with various Eve Online Stuffz to give away. Supporters include so far:-
Eve-bet.com - 100,000,000 ISK Eve-Bet code for all those who turn up and a pirate cruiser for first 10!
CCP - CCP Guard has promised he'll send over some swag and codes for us.
Drackarn - I'll chuck in two plex to be given away randomly around 9pm (drawn from a hat if we have a hat... I'm sure we'll find something!).

    FAQ:-

    Q. Why a Friday?
    A. If you live in the region you already know. Just in case you're looking at this as you are passing and might have opportunity to call in, well Fridays are the first full day of the weekend here. Thursday night will be too busy. Saturday night is no good as most us have work Sunday morning (I don't actually live near Dubai and I need to be at work Sunday morning!). An early start on a Friday evening will be the best bet to stake out a corner of Nelson's and give those travelling time to head back on Saturday!

    Q. Dubai? As in the Middle East? In a pub? I'm going to be in the area/passing through that weekend but I've heard....
    A. Stop right there. There is a good post here dispelling many of the misconceptions about things over here. When most people think of the region they think Saudi which has very different laws to many other countries.

    Q. Do I need to RSVP? How do I get in contact?
    A. If you can let me know that will be great. Obviously I have no idea how popular a player meet will be here in the desert. We might get three, we might get half a dozen, we might get 20. If it looks like its a higher number I may need to speak to the venue and book a table etc. The event is on Evemeet.net. You can leave a comment here. I'm on Twitter @drackarn. Email is drackarn at gmail dot com. Or you can send me an in-game email. Plenty of options.

    Hope to see you there.

    Tried a Worm. Splatted.

Had a quick try with a Navy Drake, 8 RLML with precision missiles, twin large ASB. Done.

I know skills are touchy as its the reward for attending mass tests, but the ability to skill up to 5 to test new things would be awesome.

I've got Drack training Minmatar Tactical Destroyer on SiSi ready to test the Syv... the Siv.... the Svi.... the new Matari T3 Dessy. Wouldn't it be best if we could test it at level 5 straight away?

The /moveme command gives you limited options. What if something like /skillup did the same? The options only included what was being tested for the new release? For example when we all got max super capital skills to test low-sec doomsdays and supercap gate travel?

I already have the Svipul at Lv4. What's your excuse? Besides, this would kill mass test participation. No, no, and hell no to removing anything that brings people - and thus entertainment - to mass tests.

So I have, but this one is an easy train. How about a 8x skill or a 10x skill in the future? What if they mirror TQ next week, a day before they introduce the ship?

Hence I suggested they only do the skills for what they want testing. Its a balance. Mass tests versus proper testing of the new items.

    Good plan. Make it so.

  • Improving the Fitting Experience in EVE Technology and Research Center

    1. Filling guns or launchers by dropping an entire stack would be great. Destroyers are a pain ;)

    2. Buy this fit from the market at the lowest price button.

    3. However if you can make a button that says "Take this fit and fit me X more of these ships just like this one, everything is in the hangar, off you go Mr Client" I will get down on my knees and worship the ground you stand on at Fanfest Shocked

/goes back to fitting the same Tristan over and over and over again Sad

I run EN24 not the whole network

I think the question was would you care to comment, not what is your relationship to the site.

As you are a CSM X hopeful I would too like to hear your views on EN24 Network attempting to "steal" the #tweetfleet. Obviously this has made a lot of the community very angry, so what do you think about this situation?

Certainly is one of my top 3 candidates given his previous excellent work on the CSM.

Its possible some are saving their entry to the last minute. Big prizes mean some might be taking thier serious internet spaceship fiction seriously Big smile

Edit: You can just EVEmail the story's link and info and I'll get it on the Contest Entries page.

Tried three devices. All say nope! Then again it could be the internet here. A lot is blocked I'd guess. Eve Mail sent. Thanks.

Any obvious reason the entry page won't load on an Android tablet running Chrome? All I get is a page of white. Great as a torch, not so great when trying to submit an entry :(

    "Artificial Stupidity" - Humour - 28th

Apparently there is Wifi on the island so will steal the wife's tablet and submit them to the main site at the end of the month!

    Hey Sam,

How about a new category for 2015?

    "Eve Nerds with No Life" = 17,500 - 40,000 words :P

If you'd had this one this year I'd be sorted, but struggling currently with an entry with 5000 words. Go figure Shocked

Ha! That would be great, actually. The only problem is the judging probably wouldn't be done until this time next year.

Where can we read the longer piece mate?

Yeah... didn't think about that. That's why YOU run these ;)

22k word piece I uploaded on Friday is here if you are interested - http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/SCAS/Val-Str.pdf
