this would be absolutely overkill for anything in highsec, but it works. cap stable (40%), 747dps with Wasps, tracks frigates easily as well. 870dps tank against serpentis, 1161dps tank against guristas. it's an afk fit that i would run with one of my alts. it's solo'd gurista's dreads before. i usually just send it to a site at 0, launch drones, turn on the hardeners and rep and switch back to my main toon.

not the cheapest fit, but running faction sentries and you can still sit out at 100km and basically never take damage.

this runs level 4's quite easily. and even better you can change damage types based on the mission. it's not cheap though. that's the only problem.

It looks like an optimal fit. Unfortunately I don't have the skill points to make a fit like that works. I'd be minus 500% cap. Thanks for the post though! Didn't even have to insult me first. Bravo!

the thing about that fit is it's a literal range tank. you land in a site, point the ship whichever direction you want to (preferably away from the big gaggle of ships) and hit the MJD. poof you land 100km away, launch sentries and orbit them at 500m. the armor rep is only there for the initial agro that you'll get when you land from the warp in. once you're at range, none of the rats should be able to hit you. and any that can won't be doing enough damage to break your tank even without being cap stable. the large MJD takes a lot of cap. but it only runs for about 10 seconds then you don't have to touch it again.

It's always up unless we need to reboot or update it. MIrrors from TQ happen as and when we require them, but we have a command "/copyskills" that applies any skills you have on TQ to the Sisi version of your character.

Niddy gets a fighter damage and fighter velocity bonus so it seems to be the king of ratting carriers. This seems like a pretty typical ratting fit, pretty much max damage and application with a little shield buffer.

Eft has it at 4511 with firblogs and both weapons active, pyfa puts it at 4070. Eft doesn't seem to be getting updates so I'd be a bit more trusting of the pyfa numbers, Einherjis are 3327dps, and the others are somewhere in the middle.

running without a local rep for ratting isn't the greatest idea. it kinda kills your ticks when you have to go and dock back up / tether to recharge shields. plus if you do get tackled by actual enemies the rep can keep you alive for long enough to hopefully get a QRF up and supporting the tackled carrier.

of course if you live next to PL who like to drop Rorqs on EVERYTHING, then it doesn't really matter too much :P

    3. You may need to update your version of EFT or pfya, because carriers can only deploy fighters now (if memory serves, most carriers have well over 1500 DPS).

most ratting carriers are going to be over 3k dps with decent skills.

    ShahFluffers wrote:
1a. Nope. The same applies to normal ships too. No more drone assist.

2a. A carrier can launch 3 "squadrons" of 9 ships each.
Each "squadron" will behave in a manner similar to a single drone... with each fighter in a "squadron" behaving like drone's HP... except each fighter destroyed means the "squadron" as a whole deals less damage.

Also look into Drone Damage Amplifiers and Omnidirectional Tracking Links do affect Fighter stats (more damage and more range/tracking... respectively).

3a. Easily 1000 dps. There are some "full DPS" fits that claim to get more than 2000-2500 DPS.
However they will not be particularly effective against anything smaller than a cruiser / battlecruiser.

There are also a few other things to note:

    - No more Triage Mode. Carriers are basically gigantic drone ships with a jump drive now.

    - There is a mod called the (aw crap... I can't remember the name of it) that drastically increases your targeting speed and boosts fighter damage slightly.... but blocks Remote Reps and prevents you from using any form of Electronic Warfare.

depending on the fit, but i've seen a ratting carrier blap Interceptors off the grid while the ceptor was running 4km/s. i've personally had mine leave a malediction on 8% structure with one volley from 2 flights of T1 fighters. they both were "glancing" hits but it was still applying damage to a 'ceptor running over 3km/s.

iirc the Nidhogger can break the 4k DPS mark with T2 fighters, and faction DDA's

  • Maelstrom fitting help please in EVE Gameplay Center

two simple ways of doing it. run meta 4 guns and / or run faction ammo.

i threw your fit into eve-hq to try and figure out what kind of increase you could get from faction ammo/meta guns.

with Minmatar BS at 4 and large projectiles at 4 i was getting your current DPS numbers with EMP and your fit. with faction ammo alone dps jumped from 320dps to 360dps with your current fit. meta 4 guns (1200mm Heavy "Scout" Arty 1) with standard ammo was 375dps and 423dps with Republic Fleet EMP

Why? because when your salvage is worth hundreds of millions of isk and it gets quite chunky nothing is better.
With 6 T2 salvagers the trick is keeping up with them lol, and the tractors are great for those wrecks outside the range of the MTU.

An MTU's range is 125km for the lowest meta, and a Noctis' highest possible tractor beam range is 96km.

    What do you mean?

Ah guess i didnt word that very well :p

The MTU tractors 1 wreck at a time meaning there is often a number of wrecks outside the "blob" around the MTU which are easilly in reach of the salvagers... the 2 tractors on the noctis finishes that job in enough time to not pause salvaging.

well that's why you drop the MTU when you warp in with your combat ship, not the Noctis. that way it's all right there and ready to be salvaged all at once when you do warp in to salvage. Noctis with 8 salvagers clears everything really quick when it's right there

The Noctis has a nice bonus for range, but it's ability to target at range is severely limited. The targeting range of the Noctis is far less than the range of the tractor beams. It also seems that the Noctis takes an inordinate amount of time to target lock a wreck.

I haven't flown a Noctis in a very long time - but based on my recollections I suspect you're fitting Warp Core Stabs...

While true I do wonder what makes you think he had warp core stabs fit?

due to the fact that stabs drop your targeting range and scan res by 40% with the T2 Stab.
