  • EFT v2.35 - Citadel in EVE Gameplay Center

Used EFT for almost 3 years now. Never commented on this thread. Thank you very much for all your hard work with keeping up with the updates. I really take EFT for granted, like it's part of Eve. CCP should pay you!

  • Drones - Kamakaze Feature in EVE Technology and Research Center

I am sure there are other balance issues that I haven't thought about. Please point them out. I don't think this feature would dramatically change the landscape of combat, or create any overpowered ships (that I can think of). I also DON'T think CCP should make a new drone that can kamakaze, because I doubt that would see much use. Adding the feature to the existing T1 and T2 drones, as a pilot developed technology, would just fulfill everyone's (I may be exaggerating here by saying everyone) desire to just make their drones blow up in someone's face. It would also create another choice, and strategic decision that pilots have to make during combat, which would lead to some awesome sandbox-ie situations. Discuss, and please make it happen CCP! :D

  • Drones - Kamakaze Feature in EVE Technology and Research Center

First of all, why is this not a feature already? I mean, who doesn't want to command their drones to go blow up in someone's face?

    Here's what I propose.

Give all drones the ability to self destruct, on a timer, creating an explosion in an radius.

T1 Small Drones: 75 Race Specific Damage, 5km explosion radius, 5 second arm time,
T2 Small Drones: 100 Race Specific Damage, 5km explosion radius, 5 second arm time

T1 Medium Drones: 200 Race Specific Damage, 7.5km explosion radius, 5 second arm time
T2 Medium Drones: 250 Race Specific Damage, 7.5km explosion radius, 5 second arm time

T1 Heavy Drones: 400 Race Specific Damage, 10km explosion radius, 5 second arm time
T2 Heavy Drones: 500 Race Specific Damage, 10km explosion radius, 5 second arm time

T1 Sentry Drones: 200 Race Specific Damage, 15km explosion radius, 7.5 second arm time
T2 Sentry Drones: 250 Race Specific Damage, 15km explosion radius, 7.5 second arm time

    - Augmented and Navy drones are unable to kamakaze, because the technology was developed by capsulers.

    - Geckos can't kamakaze (a reason to use T2 heavies again?), because the original design that gave subcap pilots pretty much a capital drone at lower bandwidth doesn't leave room for the extra explosive ordnance (I'm sure CCP will come up with a better reason).

    - Drone explosions damage all ships in range, including friendlies and neutral pilots, concord, stations, gates, gate guns, at all security levels of space (concorded when people derp), and cannot be activated within the docking radius of stations (stations figured out how to jam the 5/7.5 second explosion sequence?)

    - Exploding your drones too close to your ship will damage your ship too!

    - If the ship that gave the kamakaze command explodes before the arm timer is done, the timer deactivates and the Drones become inactive like normal.

    Addressing Balance Issues:

A flight of T2 light drones would do 500 race specific damage. A flight of T2 Mediums would do 1250, and a flight of T2 Heavies would do 2500 race specific damage. Those are not significant amounts of damage, considering the fact that a flight of drones of any given size does significantly more damage in about 6-10 seconds. Also, exploding your drones severely gimps the damage output of a dedicated drone ship, even the ones that have large drone bays.

I'll give two examples. Imagine a Tristan or an Ishkur pilot making the decision to kamakaze their drones. with a flight of light drones, they would do 500 damage per flight, but each kamakaze reduces their damage out, especially for the Tristan. The Ishkur will be able to do a kamakaze twice, but then would practically have no drone damage. So overall, the ishkur would do 1000 race specific drone damage, that is mitigated by resists (not a lot). A flight of light drones drones, if left to apply DPS would do that much damage in about 5-10 seconds, depending on how ganky the Ishkur fit was.

Next, take for example a ship like the Ishtar, or the Dominix, that has a large drone bay. Sure, you could carry three flights of heavies, and explode them, but a full flight of T2 Heavies would do 2500 race specific drone damage, times three, over 15 seconds (at a bare minimum). 7500 race specific damage, spread out over 15 seconds+, not counting drone travel time, is NOT a lot of damage or DPS. A Domi or Ishtar pilot, or a fleet of Domis or Ishtar pilots, would have to really consider when and why they want to kamakaze their drones.

As for the Sentry drone kamakaze proposal, let's be honest, who hasn't dreamt of leaving a minefield in space. Also, considering the fact that they cannot be exploded within the docking radius of a station, they would be completely useless to camp anyone into a station. The reason why I propose that the Sentries have a larger explosion radius, with the damage of a medium drone, and a longer arming time, is so that sentry balls can still be smartbombed, but FCs/Fleets/Pilots still have the ability to make the strategic decision to blow up their Sentries as a last hurrah if the threat of smartbombs becomes apparent.

Drone Explosions would hit friends and foes alike, but would/should not break gate cloak, so gate campers cannot use them to permaexplode a gate with sentries.

Given the speed of light, medium, and heavy drones, pilots would have the ability to actually burn out of the drone's explosion radius. For example, an interceptor pilot that is kiting a flight of acolytes or warriors may actually burn out of the explosion radius while the warriors or acolytes catch up. So, drone kamakaze isn't assured damage either. Same thing goes for a Frigate kiting Medium drones, or a cruiser kiting Heavy drones. Easily outrunnable.

Gurista ship drones would still do the normal amount of kamakaze damage with no buff from the hull bonus. The kamakaze damage from the Worm would still be 2 T2 light drones x 100 damage, the damage from the Gila would still be 2 T2 medium drones x 250 damage, and from the Rattlesnake it would still be 2 T2 Heavy drones x 500 damage, or 2 T2 Sentries x 250 damage.

So I just went to the Marmite Killboard, searched for my character to show Tora that this isn't the first time that I've killed Marmites, and SURPRISE, EVERY KILL prior to this last engagement that I have had against Marmite has been deleted from the Marmite Killboard. Shocker, Marmite cooking the books to make themselves look better. LAWL. You guys should really stop caring so much about your KB. If you did, you would actually learn a thing or two about PvP.

The war is almost over, and I think the count right now is +6 POCOs to RvB, a POS down, a POCO in reinforce, a POS in reinforce, a 3:1 KB (since KBs are god and all that), and a Tora Bushido corpse. So, Galactic Skyfleet should probably get their isk back because the Mercs are running out of time to take or defend POCOs!
Thats what you get for not reading the entire post. Then you would have known this isnt a Marmite post and this isnt a war contract. Now do you feel dumb today Blink

Thanks for buffing all the RvB frig noobs in the game! Good changes, so so about the Worm/Gurista line, but will adapt.

Keep the Serpentis 90% web bonus. It's one race of expensive ships. If someone brings a Vindi/Vigilant/DD to a fight, whether it is for dread blapping, or blapping small stuff, good for them and they should have a special bonus.

Don't mess up the Angel/Serpentis line as you move forward with Cruisers and BS Blink. Keep up the good work!

WOAH Goons pay RvB now?! Please send all future Goons > RvB payments to TELEMACHUS RHEADE, Mr. Mittens. I am the RvB Mining Director, and mining for isk is listed in my duties. I will make sure the isk gets to where it needs to go, promise!

  • Highsec PvP-ers needed for foreverwar against Goons in EVE Gameplay Center

Soooo, what must I do to get this Gevlon Goblin guy to pay Marmite to permadec RvB? I mean, clearly he's mad about RvB assisting goons cause of LOLz, pets, and/or conspiracy. Let's put some isk towards that endeavour! However, I guess Marmites would decline cause, well, killboards are too precious right?

  • [MERC] The Marmite Collective in EVE Gameplay Center

It's a shame that you guys dropped the war against RvB. I was having so much fun!

Can I now become an honourary Marmite? I have better isk efficiency on your killboard than the top 10 guys for this month. That's the only requirement to be a Marmite right?

  • [MERC] The Marmite Collective in EVE Gameplay Center

Thanks for clearing the 4-4 undock. Guess it was too close to RvB space eh?

  • [MERC] The Marmite Collective in EVE Gameplay Center

Why did you guys remove the Marmite vs. RvB campaign from your kill boards? I'm disappointed. We were having so much fun.

I know you guys like to say "90%+ efficiency against all alliances", but hiding the RvB campaign just hurts my feelings.

Those people obviously do not understand economics. Or are doing it for fun.

If you want reasonable tax rates, come up to The Forge and look for an RvB-R or an RvB-B owned POCO, we have good rates for neutrals - 5% from us, and a recommendation to train Customs Code Expertise to V to knock the NPC tax down to 5% also, giving you a very favourable 10%

(When compared to the Interbus basic rate on the remaining Interbus Offices).

Err... I'm seeing a base rate of 15% on RVB-R customs offices. If it was 5%, that would definitely be a level most wouldn't care about, and RVB-R could just sit back and collect the 5% for future FFA events. It isn't practical to wardec RVB-R either.

RvB-R and RvB-B are probably the two alliances people won't mind paying to, compared to the alternatives.

There is a new skill that lowers the NPC tax rate from 10% to 5%. RvB has the tax rate set to 5% for Neutrals. So if you have 0 in that new skill (it is under Trade I think) your combined tax will be 15%. Anyone dedicated to PI should train it to 5, so you can have a 10% (5% NPC + 5% RvB) tax rate.

If you want to take some POCOs away from RvB, hire Noir. or any other Merc Corp. I hear they are cheap, and you'll make back your isk from the POCO tax in, NEVER. Once you have hired Mercs, please remember to email me, so I can send you a personal thank you note for creating content for us.

    Also, I LOVE TEARS!

Also, some of the taken names are by people who have saved the name for themselves by making an alt. -1 on the OPs idea. It is silly.
