    Excellent point my friend.

  • Opinions of Commentators in EVE Communication Center

I am in agreement with Gor and Proxay. Nice to be able to see commentators getting more comfortable and settled in with a 'system' that works for them.

I must say that Bolton has made obvious improvements and frankly I <3 Raivi.

Keep it up guys you are doing a good job. All we can ask for is genuine effort on improving the experience for viewers and we are seeing that today.

    Onward and Upward!

  • I am not going to watch AT X if it goes on like that in EVE Communication Center

I think that we are all taking ourselves WAY too seriously here. Bear

After all, there is no such thing as 'bad' publicity.... right? I am interested to see how ATX unfolds on several levels.

Having a rule that essentially allows CCP to pick and choose teams at their leisure sucks.

However, it is a necessary evil. The challenge to create written rules which would address AT9 problems is not realistic. Unless they are going to single people out and/or create a gridlock mess of fine print to be interpreted by anyone with an opinion.

    v0v

Nobody wants to see two 'friends' meet up for the final match and then count seconds while watching the clock. That match sucked. Bad. (attempting to ensure no repeat of AT9 final is damn difficult here folks due to the level of meta-gaming, etc...)

The way they are doing it 'clean-slate' is the only choice out of several poor options to choose from.

I think CCP is handling it as well as can be expected.

I find it humorous that the same people who were able to entirely manipulate last years event are now screaming from the rooftops about CCP decision. You should have applied some creative thought to specifically making it look like two separate teams from the start. You guys knew the situation. You knew all eyes were on you.

Then you Derped. You are all intelligent enough to know that you should have been more pro-active to ensure CCP had no reason to do this.

Now we all pay the price. Champs are not even in the running. Hmmph....

Life... there is nothing like it. I mean... you can't make this **** up.

Random horrible thought: CCP allow Hydra/Outbreak to have a team and pilots from either can join... but one team only. RvB anyone? Dunno on this....

    Yep.

That be the guys. Clearest memory of the night was Bolton announcing potential need of medical assistance due to lack of sleep. L-O-L

I think I crashed into that room on the heels of Raivi and I remember asking him: Is your room ready for this at such an hour?

The room was. Occupants were not.

I was loud, drunk and having WAY too much fun.

EDIT: Actually the fire alarm incident following being evicted by Bolton was clearest memory but who is keeping track.....

You work in auto financing or auto sales, don't you?

God, no. I am not in sales or auto in any regard actually. I excel at being a waste of space in reality.

However, I bought a car once. I still remember the fees :)

  • 64 teams again? in EVE Communication Center

The CCP dudes running the tournament are basically just volunteers who give up their weekends for a month to do this. Having more than 64 teams would require more manpower and budget to handle proctoring more matches.

IF that is true then I will revisit my view on the entire tournament. Although I agree there has to be a limit to resources input and being able to manage it. Perhaps we are at that limit all ready.

  • Pay To Win? in EVE Communication Center

That may be the one deal breaking point to the 64 participant cap.

Would like to hear how many teams we could realistically have and still maintain true event not just a mess. There is much overhead to bring this tournament to life. Hundreds of man hours for months in preparation... not to mention the live event itself.

But this is not a new concept. There are models to be followed from organizations doing it successfully year after year.

But it does not mean that additional non monetary criteria is unwanted. Make it mean more than the number in your wallet for sure.

  • Pay To Win? in EVE Communication Center

Every official car show, ball game, dance, comedy act, competitive tournament, etc has ridiculous entry costs in all types of currencies and nations. Why would this be any different?

    Hate it? Sure.

Expect it to be different? Hell no.

Still... I think it is worthy of discussion as the AT is evolving rapidly each cycle. Also I believe the auction is too limited simply by definition. Other criteria could and should be utilized imo. Money as well as....(discuss)

    -Previous Tournament Ranking
    -Age of Entity
    -Member Employment Time
    -Entry Fee
    -Tax Fee
    -Title Fee
    -Doc Fee

Along with all the normal rules and specs they currently put out which define eligibility for entry.

Perhaps even the full meal deal with hell week rounds to kick it off. Flesh out the trash? Anyone who wants in... get's in.

  • Pay To Win? in EVE Communication Center

I simply can't care much about entry fees for official events. That does not mean I don't have an opinion about it.

After all...It is how the rest of the world does it. But I love this blog entry by Mr. Teg - -

  • 64 teams again? in EVE Communication Center

From my point of view increasing the number of participants is positive in almost every regard.

Implementation details may vary but the bottom line is 64 slots seems a bit thin.

Is it though? 128 teams would create potential for many boring/garbage matches to sit through. I am assuming it would be done without doubling number of matches of course... but either way.

Can this event support 128 teams and still stay interesting enough to be a part of? Regardless of involvement (player, producer, designer, janitor, fan, forum *****) once you get into 100+ participants it has to be at least as interesting as NCAA or people will stop attending in all areas.

Maybe EVE is now large enough to just go all out and still have a worthwhile annual event. Everybody gets a shot but most get knocked out first round.
