  • EVE Lore, Concord and the Burn Jita Event in EVE Communication Center

This has been an annual thing for a while now and I got to thinking about how it fits into the lore of EVE. A large coalition rolls in to the core of the four empires' trade network and unleashes with wanton destruction. Sure Concord replies to each act of aggression, but it seems odd that there isn't something more comprehensive. It seems something this consistent and destructive would draw sufficient attention from many directions within all the empires to demand a response of its own.

As a player the whole thing only impacts me in the most indirect way (losec sort for the most part), but it does leave me wondering about that lore gap, as it were.

  • Indirect nerf to drones: anti-drone batteries in Council of Stellar Management

One way to 'nerf' drones would be for CCP to introduce anti-drone(AD) batteries. I'm thinking along the lines of present day AA guns/missiles used to combat enemy aircraft. adjust ships to include these batteries in fits without sacrificing too much elsewise and maybe allow the AD batteries to work automatically--like drones. The canon explanation would be something like: these batteries would have little to no affect on enemy frigates or heavier ships due to not being included in the capsuleer's control and totally run on AI to allow the pilot to focus on other things in combat.

Rough idea but it would be something to indirectly tweak drone capabilities.

Yeah, fleet actions just don't sound like you, Zap. I mean it's a nice change of pace, but you're a lowdown soloist. Keep it coming!

  • Zappity's Adventures in EVE Gameplay Center

Passive shield rep fit. Wow. And a svipul too.

  • Zappity's Adventures in EVE Gameplay Center

Ah, so that's the details of what happened in your first null sojourn. True that was a pretty bad situation to be in. Nice move on use of the griffins to ruin the entosis cycles.

Pirates with sov. Love it. Make sure to call the station something appropriate like Tortuga.

Btw has there ever been a pirate coalition in EVE? Something that impacts both lo and null sec?

  • Zappity's Adventures in EVE Gameplay Center

Best of luck to SF and ABA in null. Sounds like a new fun chapter is beginning. Yar.

  • Zappity's Adventures in EVE Gameplay Center

    Zap,
I think you found the perfect medium for pirate rp. Sounds like fun.

  • Zappity's Adventures in EVE Gameplay Center

Zap, the pirate story was golden. Pure gold. I need to find the time to talk piratey on local or in convo. That sounds like way too much fun. 'Course machine is too crap for me to play at present, but when I have a new machine, it'll be "Avast there, scurvy pup, or it's havoc upon your soul!" Yarr.

In fact, that pretty much underscores how op an ishtar is. In the shower while the hvy drones(hvy vs a dessie in prop mode) auto kill whatever happens to be in range.

  • Zappity's Adventures in EVE Gameplay Center

Interesting. 25k+ buffer tank(in defensive) with dps that approaches 500 with all Vs. Scram but no web. Good on you, man. I need to learn more about pills.

  • Game delay from the launcher in EVE Technology and Research Center

I am noticing with this latest update that the game delay following login at the launcher has returned. I spend anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes waiting for the game to launch after login.

Nothing a bottle of crianza can't fix. Or ale. But, yes I feel for ya, Zap.

I went home after work and fit a sfi w/4 lrml from EFT to PyFA without any problems. Ended up looking much like the pic you provided. So, apologies as this really isn't an issue.

I may be wrong but I thought I noticed on the latest PyFA the fit for a scythe fleet issue was limited to 3 missile bays when the actual is 4.

  • Null Sov - Concord alliances in Council of Stellar Management

What if a Sov group in Null conducted negotiations with Concord with the interest of stabilizing their sovereign systems? What sort of assets would Concord provide the Sov group to maintain security? What would Concord see as advantageous in such an arrangement?

Possibly Concord would arrange for pipelines to specific hubs in null with the prospect of increasing trade and transport. What sort of benefits would such an arrangement provide Sov groups?

The idea behind this is based on stability rather than exploitation. Wars are a dime a dozen in null, but stability combined with open and secure trade isn't. Maybe there's a way to have your cake and eat it too?

This would certainly give Sov groups a reason to hold sovereignty--aside from the 'my yard' thang. Not all Sov groups would want this sort of thing, but being able to sustain a number of systems to warrant Concord support for trade purposes could be appealing to some Sov groups.

Safety settings. Kept it red from the FW days and suffered quite a bit from it in hi/lo sec piracy afterward. Concorded, gate guns. The reasoning was to have control over who I could lock. Of course, that only ended up giving me enough rope to hang myself many times. Set to yellow now to compensate for a spastic mental process.

  • Problems after this latest patch in EVE Technology and Research Center

I did lose an 18m firetail to app hang after attempting to optimize my graphics settings. It was partially my fault since I tried the damn thing in Amarr with a sec status of -2.2. Glad I wasn't in my vagabond.

  • Problems after this latest patch in EVE Technology and Research Center

    • launcher takes about half a minute to respond after clicking 'play.'
    • station interior (ship hangar view) sometimes goes dark with only lights/steam visible.
    • trying to optimize graphics from the setting menu causes game to hang and must be killed from task manager (Win Vista OS).
    • 'Resource Loading' symbol appears to be continuously active now.

    My system:
    Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3 GHz
    Nvidia GeForce GTS 450
    4 Gb RAM
    Vista OS
