    Another thing I noticed is that all objects have to have at least 2 keyframes, even if you want something to be in one spot.
    All objects have to have a material assigned.

    I also think the first keyframe has to start at frame 0, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

    Also useful is to have the logServer application open.

    Seems you need the licensed program Granny 3D to make those gr2 files. Earlier in the thread they said Blender support for camera animation is on the to-do list, so it'll come by some day. If the internet is to be believed on how much G3D costs, forget about it.

    I select the object, press "i" and click "LocRot", but what is the proper action?



    I made it look the same by going to the 5th tab on an object and right clicking the location and transformation rows and selecting add keyframe.

    However I actually still couldn't get it to work with a from-scratch blend file. I'm currently just modifying the example.blend, which seems to work fine.

    Just started playing with this, great stuff CCP. Really happy to be able to play with stuff like this.
    And many thanks to Valeo Galaem for making the DEA to RED process super easy.

    One thing I'd really want to be able to do is export camera animation paths from blender. Above it was mentioned this can currently be done with gr2 files? Anyone willing to give me a short run-down on how that's done, and integrated in the scene file?

  • New easy way to import EFT format text fittings in EVE Technology and Research Center

    I don't want to sound bitter, so I'll first say that I'm very happy that the fitting manager is getting some love.

    However as others have said this type of feature is already present via the DNA format and javascript API.
    Secondly I'd say that EFT, while undoubtedly is the most common seen format, is also a pretty terrible format. CCP adding support for something like the Common loudout format would be really sweet.

    i.e. a reasonably well thought out format in a common container format that most languages have inbuilt support for.

    And lastly, I'd much rather see the current capabilities of what a ship fit can contain to be expanded. Manually adding implants in dozens and dozens of AT ships can be a real chore I can assure you.

    Anyway, I'm happy the ship fit manager is getting some love. But I would like to see more.

IF autoreload had been OFF, it would have been merely inconvenient, but since you can't stop the reload process he was locked out of repping for 60 seconds, rather than merely "until he got enough cap back" which can be done even with a weakened cap chain.

    So basically both points are true and both points are relevant, but it was ultimately the bump that killed him.


    I think it was the damage that killed him. :P

    The hydra outbreak match you reference failed to be entertaining. If it had been entertaining nothing would probably have happened. But for a finals match is was simply too blatant too ignore.

    Also do mind that a big part of the reason we now have double elimination instead of the points system is because the points system played match fixing and deals into hand. (among various other things obviously)

    Slightly tounge-in-cheek. CODE failed to entertain.

    Regardless of who or what CODE is, CCP has been pretty clear that the AT is special and TQ antics will not be appreciated if it interferes with providing entertaining matches.

    The given sanction was listed in the AT rules as the harshest penalty CCP was prepared to dish out. Simply logging off just before your match is probably the biggest middle finger you can give to the AT and it's organisers. Colour me unsurprised that CCP chose to dish out the harshest penalty.

  • [Hyperion] Burner Missions in EVE Technology and Research Center

    My first try with the burner missions was the sansha rat, and I only had limited time so could only give it 3 attempts. Also since I've only experienced the sansha rat this might colour my observation.

    As a puzzle it is nice. But if this in any way should serve as a method of making PvE more like PvP, it imho fails.

    As a general feeling at the moment it is necessary to come up with a fairly specific fit to overcome the rat. This fit in turn will have zero value in pvp because it is specifically tailored to do a certain amount of dps to overcome to very high repair amount and have a likely unnaturally heavy tank for a frigate to survive the equally upped DPS of the rat.

    Now perhaps this is simply a case of expectations being different. But I was expecting these missions to teach in a PvE way about ships, their strengths and weaknesses, their counters and limitations.

    Cynically put, this sansha rat will only instil an undeserved fear of this frigate, as well as teach bad habits like dmg specific tanking and no tackle mods. In an even more cynical sense it is ultimately no different from a normal mission, except that it's just one rat. After the new wears off people will be lugging around a couple of highly specific frigates to deal with these, or none at all and skip them.

    My expectations where that one had to figure out the correct counter to the fit, vaguely mirrored to normal PvP fitting style to overcome the challenge. But that it would essentially teach pvp basics and the rock/paper/scissors game of frig pvp.

    Having the rats be half-way e-war immune isn't helping either, but as I understand it that's simply a limitation of the system at this time.

    Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the puzzle of these missions. But I was perhaps hoping they would be less of a puzzle and more of a PvP simulation in PvE land.

    The briberies tended to happen because of the point system. Team A could have a slight chance at advancing while team B could have no chance what so ever. In those cases a few bill could change hands to make sure team A scored enough points to advance.

    With double elimination this is no longer the case, so briberies make a lot less sense unless they are ridiculously high.

    But even then, the chance anyone would bribe CODE would be less then zero. No name alliance with no tournament history or even any form of pvp background. There's just no point to bribing them to get a pass. They are one of the weakest opponents in the tournament already, if a team felt they needed to bribe them how would said team survive the next round?

    I think the people you name are probably the most recognizable.

    But I think the AT doesn't lend itself much to this. There really isn't much pilot exposure, and unlike say dota2 which is obviously also a team effort, you can't really see individual actions much.

    The best AT equivalences I can think of is the logi not ******* up, and small ship pilots not ******* up.

    I mean maybe if there where lots of expositions of AT pilots and their teams, knowledge about individual pilots could become common place. But (sadly) the AT and eve tournaments aren't big enough. A unsettling amount of eve players simply don't care about tournaments for whatever reason.

    And unlike say dota, eve isn't actually set up to be a e-sport.

    Often commentators will point out common pilots or their alts which is a good thing and in line with what you are talking about. But I just don't think there is enough coverage in the rest of the year for people to really get interested.

    Sorry but I find this post rude and disgusting quite frankly.

    CCP Fozzie, CCP Rise and the entire CCP AT team often spend countless hours of their own personal time and commitment not on the payroll helping with the Alliance Tournament. Duality is a privilege not a right, and the only reason why you have it this year is down to the endeavors of the CCP staff, namely CCP Merovingian. You're more than welcome to test on Singularity or Tranquility.

    You honestly can't expect CCP to delay healthy game balance changes and updates for the rest of the 300,000 people playing this game to satisfy us, the minority, that is taking place in the Alliance Tournament.


    I'm not doubting fozzie or any of the other AT team peoples dedicated in question, I'm well aware how they go above and beyond. What I am taking into doubt is CCP's commitment.

    As for delaying changes. Yes I think pushing back a release by one week isn't the end of the world. Nor would pushing back the AT by a few weeks. Feel free to disagree.

    When can I expect to push a button in pyfa that will tell crest to buy the ship + modules + ammo in Jita on my jita alt, then create a contract with red frog to ship it to my staging system, then when I boot up pyfa again and it detects the contract has been finished it creates a contract to black frog to jump it to my low-sec home, then when that is finished tell crust to let my main character fit the ship and occupy it, then have pyfa present me with a notification that my ship is ready?

    Something like 3 months sound do-able?

    Defining the ship, it's fittings, drones and charges.

    It's commonly used to import ship fits from Pyfa/EFT and 3rd party web tools, by calling
    CCPEVE.showFitting(DNAfit); This brings up a condensed fitting dialog.

    Now really the format is a bit crappy, but what would be a major quality of life change would be to change the format to

    597:25861;1:6673;3:439;1:4025;1:1183;1:1998;1:1236;1:11269;1::shipName::

    Where when used in conjunction with the showFitting call, automatically pre-fills the shows fit name with the given name.

    It would be great if we had a deployable arena ring.

    When deployed and anchored the arena deployable would have a center object and a semi transparent bubble effect 125km around it. If a ship left the bubble the device not unlike the EES would announce in local that "pilot X" has left the arena.

    The device can not be anchored on any grid containing a gate, station, wormhole, POS, etc.. etc..

    Bonus points:
    - The arena ring would announce the destruction of ships, i.e. "Roigon in a venture has been destroyed"
    - The arena would have a configurable radius for the bubble.
    - Have a button on the device that someone could activate that will count down 60 seconds in local like "60, 45, 30, 15, 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 GO" then ECM burst ships inside the arena on the Go mark. i.e. referee sits next to the device, both teams tell him they are ready. He hits the "countdown" function on the anchored arena, and warps off to a tactical or something.

    The CSM minutes had a topic about tournaments and how CCP can stimulate them. Even giving us such a simplistic tool (without the bonus features) would make it much easier for people to hold tournaments and train for tournaments, by automating some of the admin work for refereeā€™s.

    I'd even be happy if it just existed on SiSi :P
