The first defense is best - a USER cannot execute that and do any real damage to anything other than his own files. Real user level security was non-existent in DOS. Everyone operated at the level of complete administrative privilege. That is a fundamental, fatal flaw. Better than being able to undelete files, why not prevent ordinary users from deleting things they shouldn’t in the first place? Oh, right - because it’s DOS, it’s a tinker toy at best. ---
