i logged in all of the days but the last one lol i suck and CCP reminded me I suck edit : because i have a life and it prevented me from logging into a video game one day. ---

It really isnt just this thread, or the forums. Its in the culture of Eve… Chats, Corp chats, forums, radio and youtube broadcasts. Im not going to pick apart anyone. I am just asking you all to treat each other with respect. Your own perspective is not the only one watching and reading. try to be considerate and give others the benefit of the doubt. TILL YOU KNOW they are an asshole, at least treat them like they are a nice person… and to add, if I offended anyone, I will too apologize. I woke up on the wrong side of bed this morning. The first thing I read is these last few posts. I may have been playing Eve a bit too long, maybe I too am loosing perspective. Try to be nice guys. Even if you are joking. ---

EVE is preferentially attractive to a certain type of person. People who feel the need to be competitive at a perhaps-unhealthy level. People who feel the need to one-up and belittle other people in order to bolster their own ego. People who think that there are points to be won in everything, and that putting someone else ‘down’ inherently moves you ‘up’. People who feel that ‘harvesting the tears of others’ is inherently entertaining. The basic design structure of EVE has a lot to do with this. EVE gameplay tends to weed out the people who find these attitudes annoying, and retain the people who get off on it. So sure, there will be days when you are a bit on the grumpy side, and these attitudes totally rub you the wrong way. There will be other days when you can just blow it off because you know it’s mostly people with ‘issues’ trying to deal with their issues by being dorks/trolls/sarcastic d\*\*\*bags. The thing to keep in perspective is, those people are the loud, annoying, minority. There are plenty of great, generous, giving/helping/caring people in EVE. There are plenty of creative, thoughtful, funny individuals. They just don’t go out of their way to be ‘in your face’ all the time, because they don’t have esteem issues they need to prop up. Any time you get irked by some troll in the forums/chat/wherever, just remember there’s 2-3 very nice people flying around out there, just waiting for you to bump into them. (Edit: Oh, and sometimes the creative/funny/highly active individuals are _also_ the ones with the most competitive/pushy/annoying attitudes at times… just check out some of the old song/video productions. So you gotta take the community and their quirks as a whole.) ---
