I never put much value on getting items from LP Stores since most of those items require special Dog Tags that are both expensive and hard to acquire.

Yeah, I thought that was what we were agreeing on; reducing the cost of obtaining LP or increasing the value of the items you get for it to make using it worthwhile rather than just buying better stuff for cheaper on the market?

> The blue line is the CPI which is probably the best measure of the purchasing power of your ISK. It has been pretty flat since 2008–i.e. about 9 years.

If its been flat for 9 year’s then why do command ships cost 450mil fitted when they used to cost around 200-250mil only 4 years ago, plex rising from 400mil per month to now 1,6bil Hac’s used to be around 150 now they about 300-350. Orca 200-580mil, jump freightor from 3bil to 11bil I can go on but the only real thing that has dropped in price is faction ship’s as more people are comfortable doing Ded’s Faction ships from 1.2bil to 400-500mil.

Okay, it is time to put your compulsive need to quote the MERs to bed. CCP intentionally puts only EVE wide data into the MERs because it doesnt want to show that the real income for say highsec miners has dropped in real terms by about 40% in the last 4 years so CCP only shows aggregate data that hides that inflation in the jaw-dropping economic gains of nullsec rorqual pilots.

In short, if you sum nullsec and highsec mining together it perfectly hides the real picture that inflation for highsec miners is an on-going reality while sickening levels of economic gain for nullsec mining is also an on-going reality.

You quote the MERs data like a religion because im guessing you are one of those people that have seen real gains in your income at the expense of others playing the game and want to justify that by twisting the MERs data to suit your agenda.

A common statistical mistake to make is to attempt to apply aggregate data to specific situations. You are doing this when you say no inflation is occurring when in fact for many players, inflation is a very real problem.

This is key, everything is constantly being bunched together nullifying individual statistic’s its the same for combat statistic’s big fleet stat’s are being lumped together with small gang and solo and distorting the stat’s.

> High Sec mission running 20-40mil an hour

Thats false. Extremely false. Give it a try. To make that kind of ISK per hour you need to grind factions for at minimum 6 months, more like a year, then once you get ceirtain factions high enough (you do understand different faction payouts and how that works right?), then you need to have burners for that faction on farm, and farm the ones that send you to LS, not HS. And then maybe, just maybe, you’ll hit the 20 mil / hour mark. But thats before you factor in the time it will take you to convert your LP and sell stuff, which is a chore in itself as well.

Have you ever tried to farm burners like that ? Do you even have a clue what that takes and what the risks are ? For that matter, do any of the people botting (scuse me, carrier ratting) in NS have a clue ? All their hypocrit ■■■■ about risk vs reward goes straight out the window.

Sometimes, on SOME missions, which is heavily RNG dependant, you can get 20ish mil by full clears, those take a lot more then an hour though. And they are the ones that people who just blitz actually avoid because on average the payout is too low to be worth the trouble. You basically kill and loot everything and just hope for a lot of Meta 4 stuff.

You do realize i’m supporting you right saying your income is low, I did not realize it was that low since the last time I ran level 4’s was about 7 years ago.

The ISK price and amount of LP’s required to get the items is fine, in my opinion having to include the required amount of Dog Tags to purchase the items is the problem. Even if the Dog Tag amount was reduced, it’s still a problem since those Tags are still expensive and hard to obtain due to being regulated by RNG.

Granted not all items in LP Stores need Dog Tags to purchase, however most of the profitable items do. So that’s the reason I don’t place any value on LP’s. In order to get those items, extra ISK is required to purchase the Tags,.

Yes. But you really need to get the numbers straight. If people in HS could make 40 mil / hour runnign missions, then a ton more of them would be plexing their alts, which is not the case. We all go to NS / WH / LS for income, even if we live in HS.

If there is a ship I wanan buy, or I wanna go with some old schoolers to do some PvP, I go explo for a week or 2, or go run some sites to fund it. HS is for general sort of chill and kickback gameplay that you get in the otehr regions on very few and too rare occasions.

Sure, I have times when I get 60-100 mil per session, but those sessions are too few and inbetween and ceirtainly not 1-2 hours. More like chill for a day on a weekend while drinking beer and yapping on TS. Thats a session. Lasting anywhere from 4-8 hours and it is RNG dependant.

Often times, not always, but very often, the market price of dog tags alone exceeds the price of the item that the tags are used for.

I agree with you but watch out. I made the same declaration in another thread and next thing I knew there were players and alts of players all saying they can make way more than that per hour. There was even one player saying he makes more than 30 mill per hour running level 3 missions with an Alpha Clone.

> But other than that I dont want bounties to go up but be replaced by tags or some other such devices.

RNG and varying bounty prices would be actually pretty cool. Not to mention it would actually seriously screw with bots. Imagine if bots had to make trips a couple regions over to do their botting, through guarded, hostile space to follow the payouts. Hell, include wormholes in that so they can get their carriers stuck.

If bot’s didn’t exist everyone would be earning a lot more for their time, they just go and depreciate everything worth running. The only way I can think of to hurt bot’s is making tasks more complex for example adding data/relic challenge’s to mining and so on, this way bot’s wont be able to do it, and the people sitting there mining will earn a lot more for their time and so on. For missions something that changes rat quantities and varies each mission up a bit will lower bot success rate and up the income for everyone else doing it. You cannot survive on 10-20mil/hour its just a waste of time and all tasks in eve should be valued more accurately on time and then get a bonus for risk on-top of that, but hell who knows if eve will ever become like that.

Wasn’t arguing about it.

In fact this whole side convo started because of this comment:

To which I replied that some players don’t care about LP’s.

And I said they might if the rewards were better or the costs were lower, Tags or more specifically buying them being part (often the main part) of the cost.

Increasing isk rewards wont reduce PLEX price, it will only increase it faster.

Increasing resource yields wont improve harvester/manufacture profits, only reduce them further.

EVE is driving into a dead-end street.

* * *

PS: SP farms are approaching maturation since the inception of Alphas.
Things are going to get bad, soon, very fast, in terms of both PLEX price and CCPs profits.

The CPI is an overall measure of the “cost of living”. It is kind of like an average. So commad ships have gone up, but other things have gotten cheaper. So overall the cost of living hasn’t changed all that much.

There are no measures of income by “profession” in the MERS that is true. But your income going down does not mean there is inflation though.

Rorquals cannot cause inflation as they tend not to inject ISK into the game. If anything the help keep inflation in check by injecting real resources.

Inflation is an aggregate concept though. It is what happens to prices as more money is created. And the statistical measures commonly used show little inflation. This not to say there are no problems with the economy.

If anything what you are talking about is _deflation_. A drop in the price of the goods you produce.

Well you could ask for a CPI for HS and NS. But my guess is you wouldn’t see appreciable inflation in those measures, but it is possible.
