Yes, but it would be ambitious of me to claim I’d be able to accomplish that much. But I could put music on Spotify, and the algorithm is such that people would listen to it, and upvote it, and I’d be able to get a few dollars in revenue a month if I had the patience to stick with it or just gave up on any pretense of quality.

I see, so earnings are generated each time someone views and upvotes your song.

The earnings are a pittance based on how many listens you get yeah, the likes are just for the algorithm but more likes means more people will be served your song from the algorithm playlists (and mixed into human-curated playlists if they’re on an unpaid account), so it basically means more money too.

I found some data that is not being reported on mainstream news;

[![](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/f/1/9/f19cbe1a601804f4718c737b195cadb7af6d10d9.jpeg "Stitch with @Comedybyday This is wild....smh. Why so many? #datacenters") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjs8x3lg4Ls)

Have a look at the amount of data centers in the US compared to the rest of the world;

China - 449
UK - 523
Germany - 529
USA - 5,427

Out of the 5000+ data centers 800 to 1000 are specifically for AI workloads.

There is definitely something wrong with these numbers even though they are accurate and whomever is spearheading this must be stopped as it will have a negative effect on water and electric meant for the public.

I’m seriously baffled as to why someone hasn’t hit the panic button yet as I struggle to get my head around this. The USA is looking at an electric bill of $30 to $50 Billion per year for electric to power data centers.

Then stop sending billions to foreign countries and we can easily cover that cost. Of course we have more data centers than everyone else. People don’t seem to realize how big the United States is. We are the third most populous country on the planet. We have singular states with more people than the entire continent of Australia.

The future is coming, whether you want it to or not, and it’s still going to be powered by fossil fuels unless you can get the hippies, greenies, and activists to get on board with nuclear power, which is far superior. If it was left up to these people we would all be in 15 minutes cities, tending communal gardens, and not accomplishing a damn thing…

I think you might have missed my point, using water for agriculture is fine as it will help people maintain their health with food/drink. My perspective is ethical as it is a huge problem when the largest use of water is a datacenter. Can you not see this is poor prioritising?

Everybody understand’s this but there is such a thing as safety and physics where if nuclear power plants are built in a massive never been seen before rush then the possibility of an accident is higher. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, a nuclear power plant is not something that can be built in a few weeks.

I would have thought most people would actually be listening to the public affected by these AI efforts, but it seems you are ignoring this. The truth is that if some people don’t have drinking water due to AI efforts then there is a massive humanitariian problem which should be the top priority to resolve.

Nobody has an issue with the expansion of data centers for AI, but when the public is forced to finance the electric, make do with less, lower quality drinking water, and have their local air polluted you should understand that this is what is being complained about.

Sure, the future is coming but can we take the ethical path rather than the apathetic path?

Don’t think this would work in real musical styles. But everything is possible.

The reality is that music is just sound in a pattern. AI is good at finding patterns. Humans like to imagine they’re uniquely soulful among all the animals, but no matter how much clever sand we create, we’re still just animals.

Well. This is not 100% true. There’s a reason for existence of thousands of musicians and bands for every style and still existence of few unique ones who stands above others.

It’s just some musical styles exist purely for consuming by people with some special state of mind (lol) and in certain situations. This means people only pay attention to few attributes which are easily reproduced and optimized by AI.

Back in 90-s we would create basic and pretty “good” music in ZX Spectrum musical editors. It was a collection or rithms, instruments and tunes. Does not look much different than using AI.

I don’t think AI would have great success in situations where listeners pay attention to music, lexics, instruments, scene and other attributes.

I listened to Xania Monet and it sounds exactly like Beyonce so I am a little confused. I’m not sure what the fuss is about and why a record deal has been offered. Perhaps if the content was more original I would understand better but I guess creating a digital clone that sings like Beyonce is worth something.

Hmmmm, I also found this;

**Murphy already has a track record in the space, as Xania Monet became the first “AI-powered artist” to Chart on one of Billboard’s airplay charts last November.**

**Both the Monet avatar and her music were generated by Telisha “Nikki” Jones, who fed a poem she wrote into Suno, and out came _How Was I Supposed To Know?_, which has since topped 11 million streams on [Spotify](https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/companies/spotify/).**

**Monet currently has 1.2 million monthly listeners**

> … just shows how little humans care about creativity and “soul” and emotions as long as music provides “vibes” and “beats”.

So the real human star is Telisha “Nikki” Jones for her poetry which are original works. An AI (who sounds like Beyonce) was created to deliver the poetry in a musical form. If anything AI has definitely helped Telisha express her poetry to the world.

This makes more sense to me now. Without the human behind it would this AI artist be successful? I’m not so sure.

A more detailed explanation of how your retirement money (if you’re in the USA) is likely to end up buying a pig with a lot of lipstick and then find out it was worthless:

[![](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/b/4/e/b4ec37b714540b0400a938225713569d944eaa80.jpeg "Did Elon Musk Just Rig the Stock Market?") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYA-z0Y8WRQ)

If you’re in the EU and don’t manage your own assets as a certified investor, or have an agent that does for you, chances are that your money is safe from buying into this pile of steaming sh¡t because of ~regulations~, although the fallout from this and other IPOs like OpenAI’s might be yet another financial crack as in 2008 because there’s always some stupid asking whether the SpaceX they paid 2 trillion for is actually worth 2 trillion… which by earning 19 billion a year for a net loss of 5 billion a year, is not true.

Unfortunatly oligarch’s have been able to influence financial policy in the USA in a big way and It doesn’t look like the changes have been for the benefit of the people.

I just hope people will carefully look at the facts as launching GPU’s into space in order to build a datacenter in space will never work due to physics. Heat cannot dissipate through air in space…it doesn’t matter how much people fantasise about this it’s not possible and reality cannot be changed to suit their fantasies.

Giant radiator panels with fluid carrying heat away from the GPU’s won’t work either as the amount of weight that needs to be transported to space is impossible, they struggle to establish a cooling solution for datacenters on the ground and the cost of getting an AI server into space will eat up any possible profit.

Another one of spaceX’s plans are to establish a city on Mars. Again this is another impossible task as there would need to be a 100% reliable system to create oxygen 24/7. Also the dust on mars would clog up any and all machinery. Human’s can’t survive long-term without earth because our bodies need the specific gravity level on earth to survive.

I think you are right about comparing this to the 2008 crash, with other issues in the world wide economy this seems like a possibility. Public funds/investments are not a bank that rich people can withdraw from any time they like for them to shrug their shoulders and move on to another venture that will lose public money.

I’m dissapointed that protections for public money seem to be non-existant and any rich person can come along and use it for their wild fantasies and not lose a single penny of their own money if it goes wrong.
