# Sam Altman FURIOUS As $31B UK AI Data Center COLLAPSES

It seems Altman has recognised electricity in the UK costs 4 times more than it does in the states which makes their plans for UK datacenters impossible.

We will see the models being more energy efficient and enhanced by new technologies and new ideas. Eventually you will be able to run locally good A.I. that needs a huge server farm now.

Look at what computers could do 20 years ago, and what they can do now.

Hmm I’m not so sure, currently 1 GPU/APU uses 700watts to 1500 watts, they can’t make components smaller than 1nm we are at that limit now. There is a physics barrier that modern knowledge can’t cross as reality will never adapt to our needs.

This Sam Altman has fleeced investors out of billions with unrealistic and fantastic claims while you have companies like Google who have also promoted investment into these wild AI claims but at the same time has strong advertising platforms which can fund their AI goal.

Ultimately a lot of the AI market isn’t really there, Google for example can afford to offer some AI tools at no extra cost to the user due to their business model already generating record levels of profit, so any other company offering similar AI tools has to immediately match what Google offers and find a way to finance it which would be difficult.

> [@Nana\_Skalski](#):

> We will see the models being more energy efficient and enhanced by new technologies and new ideas.

The problem now is that Tech/Hardware investment will become a big NO! the current AI investors who invested billions in data centers that may never get completed might not get their money back any time soon so investors will be much more careful about tech investments and would adopt a slow and careful approach.

One key thing to remember here is that big investment firms have used lots of other people’s money for lending to the current AI effort so their reputation will also be at stake here and rightly so as they didn’t seem to check the validity of the AI investment and the physics related limits that have always been there.

Who ever is the tech advisor for these big investment firms isn’t doing a very good job and will most likely lose it along with lots of investors billions.

There are 1000s of boxes of unused GPU’s/APU’s that were paid for which will be obselete by the time they are plugged in and used, all the massive building’s that were half built, all of the building firms that will be bankrupted, this is terrible management.

Factually openAI shares are losing value on the secondary market as tech investors view other AI efforts like Anthropic as a better investment. Investors who own OpenAI shares have reported difficulty in selling the shares.

Hmmm, so a post including a video about Elon Musk’s AI effort which is poisoning people who live in tenessee got flagged?

I wanted to discuss all aspects of AI here and the actions of the people who are leading the AI effort. Would whoever flagged it like to explain why they flagged it?

As I mentioned I love AI, but it cannot come at the cost people’s health or lives.

Hey buddy, no worries, perhaps my post was too political. I guess if people want to learn more about what Elon is doing in Memphis they will have to search the web. I’ll just say it doesn’t look good at all.

I’m not directly complaining about AI, it’s just the people managing it seem to be making some poor decisions that lack ethics.

I was actually considering building a computer with an array of GPU’s attached so people can hire it to train their AI models however, looking at the UK electric cost this is most likely not possible. Knowing my luck the AI bubble will probably burst the moment I get my AI rig up and running just like it did with GPU mining for crypto currency.

No, I get you on the plants ruining the local environments. All of the AI juggernauts are just letting their money overpower the communities they’re invading. ■■■■ needs to be regulated, and quickly.

Seems OpenAI is already crashing and burning, won’t surprise me to see the others start to domino with all the backlash plus the lack of expected level of performance of the individual AI’s. I’m watching Microsoft to see if they start to buckle and pull back. So far they’re gung ho on Co-Pilot and everything else AI but even they can’t afford to hemhorrage forever if AI starts becoming a liability. Musk will be the last to give in, partly due to Grok being one of the frontrunners in actual intelligence, but also because he’s stubborn to a fault and will pull from his other companies revenues to keep going until his boards start getting scared.

A couple of the big hitters fall, that’s all she really wrote anyway as Samsung, Micron, and the other RAM and SSD will run back to their abandoned PC market to stay afloat, which will force the other AI companies to scale back.

I’d bet that in the mid run it’s going to be Gemini, Copilot+the corpse of ChatGPT and maybe Claude if Anthropic survives their quarrels with the Pentagon. The big ones got money and a revenue stream, Meta is late, Grok (well, SpaceX via X) is smoke and mirrors and everybody else is burning through VC with nothing to sell. AIs at best are junior level and at worse… well, they can’t think nor reason. They’re a dumb tool that requires someone in charge.

And LLMs, diffusion models et al are NOT the road to GAI.

Unfortunately, chances that an AI bubble burst lowers the price of consumer computers are low as Taiwan is already circling Helium depletion because of that thing with sailing outside of the Persian Gulf.

It is factually true that Amazon, Meta, Google and Microsoft are heavily investing in building/buying nuclear power plants. I’m concerned about this and I hope laws change to completely stop their nuclear plans.

The way to do it would involve the tech companies paying/funding existing power companies to generate the nuclear power and build more plants if needed.

Ah yes well done for contributing this, current politics can and will affect normal computer supply, the worldwide supply chain seems delicate. If it’s not one thing it’s the other huh.

The funny thing is this might actually be a good idea if the AI used for this venture is trained well on retail and can analyse/understand the retail needs of the local area. I definitely think an AI could assist a store manager with suggesting a range of products to sell.

So for example the AI would need to understand if it is in an area with ethnic people and immediatly understand that aspecific range of foods might sell well, if information about local the population isn’t used to train then it would be harder fr the AI to help serve the community.

If anything AI is actually very good at analytical types of work if the data is clear and accurate, I definitely like the idea but it would need to be humans working alongside AI.

Indeed, this is a very good point Lydra, I think the USA are trying way too hard to be the global leader and this is apparent because lots of laws in the USA directly affecting pollution/emissions have been relaxed or repealed. I count at least 7 crucial laws that have been relaxed which is causing world-wide condemnation.

It would definitely seem that the pursuit of AI in the USA is positioning other countries to become leaders in green technology where they will supply the world.

I’ve been watching a Youtuber who does bitcoin mining in the USA and owns lots of land where he is in the process of building a massive solar array to power his bitcoin miners. All of his solar equipment was purchased from another country and I found it surprising that there wasn’t a USA manufacturer for solar equipment he needed.

I am aware that there has been a massive world-wide effort on climate as many years of work has been completely ignored by the USA which I imagine is frustrating.

So yes, this is all a very negative effect on society which will effect current and future generations.

There are some good technologies where they somehow turn the emmisions from industrial into liquid and then store that liquid deep in porous rock (Carbon Capture and Storage), I think the next USA government will definitely try to force these techniques where industrialists will have to pay extra or get fined/shut down.

[![](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/eveonline/original/4X/f/4/d/f4de7f3004aa7a18c9b8978f71c96cde5ad69743.jpeg "These Companies Wiped Out THOUSANDS of Jobs For AI, Now It’s BACKFIRING") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmNCEetNdV8)

Meta is making a dangerous move to lay off 8000 people in a months time. I’m not sure these big companies who want to replace humans with AI have thought this through as there are already mass layoff’s in the USA due to tarrifs which has affected their economy badly. Too many people being laid off too quickly will result in lots of crashes which will accumalate and cause a massive crash.

Any intelligent person left in the current US government will want a sharp increase in employment taxes to cover the amount of people claiming unemployment support and the next government will definitely do this, either that or we will see more unemplyment insurance companies pop up where more people than ever before will sign up and pay the monthly fee where they hope to claim money if they become unemployed.
