The only reason they changed it is because it was hitting them in their pocketbook. The AIR SP farming method saved players literally hundreds of billions of ISK in skill injectors. Injectors that otherwise would have had to be purchased by buying PLEX and selling it for ISK, to the tune of hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. ---

It was possible to get 600k SP per day, for a total of 18 million SP per month if you did it every day. For a veteran player with over 80 million SP, that is 108 billion ISK worth of large skill injectors. That is the equivalent of 18,000 PLEX, the value of which on the EVE store is roughly $600. Let’s say 1,000 players were doing that. That is $600,000 USD of PLEX in a single month, $7.2 million USD in a year. And that’s only with 1,000 players doing it. So, the reason for nerfing it is quite obvious… ---

You still can. Now you just have to do it the old-fashioned way. By farming complexes, getting billions of ISK, and buying large skill injectors… ---

They only add official public exploits there, not hidden ones or the ones they just fixed in the latest patch. This exploit has just been patched out and requires no announcement. Also ‘skill farming’ is broad, much broader than speedrunning AIR with biomass characters. Skill farms (characters training at max rate with high attributes only to be skill extracted) also do ‘skill farming’ but are not an exploit or unintended at all. ---

Skill farming in the original sense just got buffed. Their main competing skill injector source -the people farming AIR with throwaway characters- has been deleted from the game, which makes skill farming more profitable. ---
