Yeah, definitely the early days.

Then there were Deep Space Probes, just launch one to see if there were any Cosmic Signatures in system. If so then out came the Core Probes.

What really made exploration easy was CCP adding a system sensor sweep that told you if there were any signatures in the system… Plus they added various modules to boost scan strength and signal acquisition so players didn’t have to do much skill training.

Now the Agency will show where all signatures are located, without even undocking.

I never had an issue with the scanning modules, the discovery scanner and the probe changes are the driving factor in what damaged the loot market for exploration.

I don’t have a massive problem with this change to he honest. You still have to scan the sigs to find out what they are and even when scanned, the agency window doesn’t show this information. You can’t therefore just scan a system and use alt m to keep track of whats new unless you use a 3rd party tool.

I guess it makes it slightly easier in terms of pointing you in the correct direction which doesn’t bother me personally.

The plus side is you could keep track of a system and see which has activity, jump into a combat ship and open the loot pinata of the ship not paying attention to d-scan.

The whole point of exploration is searching to find out what’s there. It’s no longer exploration if the Agency tells you which systems have signatures. What it’s being turned into now is nothing more than a race and the winner will be those who are located close to those systems.

By the way, CCP sold you a bunch of snake oil if you think you’ll get easy ‘loot pinata’ kills now. In fact the only place that could happen would be in Low Sec. If you think this change will incite High Sec explorers to go into Low Sec then you’re sadly mistaken.

Yeah, you’ve a point there. It used to be luck which was fair at least. The more I think about the change, the less I’m inclined to like it. Exploration is already a) easy enough and b) far too profitable.

A change they should make is that all sigs start with the same red sphere size. Far too easy to say “well, thats a combat site” as many start with a smaller sphere

That’s not true, nullsec has a lot of exploration (as lets face it, relic sites need a balance) and you’ll find a mix of new and old players lurking there. PvP is commonplace

The only reason CCP wants it is to keep its lazy nullseccers playing, so they keep paying. The only reason nullsec CSM want this is because it keeps their lazy nullseccers playing, so they keep taking advantage of them and keep getting people in their fleets.

Whether or not it’s an actual good game design choice (it’s not, it’s horrible) doesn’t matter for the powers that be and the powers that lobby advise. Neither is interested in the quality of the game, just themselves.

No explorer who enjoys EVE, while having more than 3 brain cells, wants this.

What have the CSM actually said? I’ve not seen any notes from them nor CCP on the subject.

For nullsec, it actually makes very little difference due to the way the systems are layed out. You set a route and go and chances are you’ll either do a loopback or go on your way.

I suspect CCP feel they’re making it easier for new players who constant ask in help "where do i find a wormhole or a relics site) Edit: I don’t think anyone really wants this change but no one wanted scatter cans and that still happened

why ?

all the relic sites have the same drop mechanism, the only differences are :

- blood have only 4 T2 drops instead of 6
- serpentis have malfunctionning shield emitter which should be reserved for guristas

If you want to even out the price of the relic sites, then you need to check at what those materials are needed for (rigs) , plus why those rigs have differences in prices.
Example : if you add some of the angel T2 rig materials (alloyed tritanium bar, smashed trigger unit) in the requirement of a new bp , you will mathematically increase the value of those materials and thus, the value of the angel sites.

It’s very complex to maintain the balance in such a system though. More likely, it’s better to let the sites have differences in prices than to try to force an artificial balance. Eve is a game of choices.

A better approach would be, to balance not the blueprints but the items. Why are large shield extender II (random example) in such a high demand ? Maybe we should make sure the other rigs find their place in the current meta ? I don’t think it’s an easy task, but modifying the loot table of relic sites is IMO bound to fail, as the price will reflect the new loot value after enough time and thus, will make that modification completely useless.

This person gets it.

“oh no, drop chance is lowered exploration is doomed now”, no it’s not. You will find less of them but they will have increased value.

LOL

More risk-averse tools for the casual ADD playerbase …

All part of CCP’s appeal to the “Mainstreaming” strategy Im sure.

This game is going to the shitter fast.

Yeah, I think thats a starting point. If you look at the pure value of the salvage coming out of sites, there’s a very large offset between say Sansha and Blood Raiders, Averages 45mill vs 15mill and in reality, theres not a huge range inbetween (you’re either in a +40 area or a -20 area). Changing the drop rates isn’t the answer but changing the demand would be. Whether that be via the blueprint requirements or modules themselves.

The problem with that is CCP, ISD and Veteran players not telling the new players they need to do some traveling and stop looking in populated systems. In fact CCP could easily increase the spawn rate of Cosmic Signatures but they won’t, at least not in High Sec. CCP is hellbent on forcing players into Low and Null Sec space.

And yeah, scatter cans was CCP’s failed attempt to force explorers into doing fleet ops. Obviously that lamebrain idea didn’t work and was removed. Hopefully all the other lamebrain failed game content recently implemented also gets fixed or removed as well.

I will keep my comment short.

Please do not implement the ability to see signatures outside of your current system. I never liked the fact that you changed the mechanic to be able to see signature in a system without probes. please do not implement this.

If you know where to go to find a signature then you are just creating a mass treasure hunt. Exploration is meant to be just that, exploring many areas to find something of value, not being led to it!

CCPlease do not implement this.
