Don’t pull a Blizzard. That ■■■■ is backlashing pretty hard. I know that CCP is involved in and desires to remain in the Chinese market. Topic Moved to Out of Pod Experience This is probably going to go horribly wrong, but this will stay open as long as possible. I would like to give everyone a chance to review the specific rules I will be focusing on when i revisit this thread. I have **Bolded** those specific rule. 2.Specifically restricted content. EVE Online holds ESRB Teen and PEGI 12 ratings. All content posted to the EVE Online forums must be teen rated. In addition to this, the EVE Online forums are not for discussion of real life current affairs, news, politics or religion. Discussion should revolve around EVE Online and its community. For these reasons, specific content is prohibited on the EVE Online forums. These are: Pornography Profanity Real Money Trading (RMT) Discussion of Warnings & Bans Discussion of Moderation Private communications with CCP In-Game Bugs & Exploits Real World Religion **Real World Politics** Content that distorts the forum layout ---

I don’t have much to say that won’t break the forum rules, except that Blizzard handled this very poorly and I’m very much enjoying watching them squirm right now. ---

In an effort to avoid breaking CCP rules, I suggest people simply address a theoretical situation in which an EVE corp kicks a member and refuses them pending SRP payment for expressing an opinion on an enemy corp. ---

Didn’t we have the so-called Anime War a few years ago where people went on a space conquest over who hates anime and who loves anime? Or discgruntled members of groups getting kicked or leaving and taking hundreds of clones and pods with them (see M-OEEB stuff) or awox entire fleets or steal corp assets (common theme of romanticized revenge stories). Opinions and different interests have always been a reason to start fights in EVE and deal with obliteration, punishment and sanctions to people and groups. ---

At the end of the day, it’s about Eve and more importantly CCP (not china’s CCP) being respectful of their playerbase. Blizzard did the exact opposite. They shoved a very public figure under a bus, in the hopes it would pay off. Time will tell if that was a financially smart move. It’s not really about politics. One can say that CCP (the chinese one) is in control of the markets, which is definitely political, but they themselves are almost irrelevant to the topic of players being free to just be themselves (within the realm of avoiding hate speech and all that other jazz). That’s how I want to frame this thread, not as another “■■■■ the CCP (the chinese one)” thread… there’s a bazillion of those on reddit and that’s a much easier place to express such a position because it’s not about Eve Online there (well… except for /r/eve and /r/gaming etc). ---

As a former resident of HK, I’m exceptionally pleased to see the near-universal condemnation of Blizzard’s behavior. Voices of protest should not be suppressed in this manner. ---
