CCP does a lot of stupid things but they’re not _THAT_ stupid that they didn’t anticipate losing subs over grind nerfs and increased sub costs. That means they accepted the consequences _and did the changes anyway_ which means they feel the changes are worth losing people over.

Whether that turns out biting them in the arse or not is here nor there, what it means is that CCP saw a need to hit the emergency brakes. Going “see they’re losing subs so CCP should change to what I want them to change to” is silly: these are not customers going “change or else I leave”, this is CCP going “bye!”.

If you are honestly trying to save the game then some of your ideas have merit, others are almost contradictory and a bit self serving.

I agree that more players playing the game is a good thing. Things to motivate them to undock? Same.

But by that argument things that make it better to NOT undock would be a good thing, right? You know like a passive income that goes directly to the coffers. Or renting out space to other players, or a TTT in Perimeter . . . do those things make players undock?

Some suggest punishing hisec folks who run abyssals and incursions . . . “how dare they be out in space playing an making isk without paying us or giving us content? Shut those faucets down and force them to play with us in OUR space.” When I ran with the incursion community I often found that my fleetmates would commonly be null folks (or their alts)

Now I will readily admit that I am at the opposite end of the game as you, directly working with newbros, most days. I do follow the threads and threadnaughts and try to find the good things in suggestions. For each shovel of dirt may contain a nugget of gold.

I doubt that you will see a price reverting but there have been a fair number of various sales on, of late.

Now your mining idea are nice and some are coding change others would be a full feature project (I love the idea of special lodes found occasionally, mining lootboxes as it were) The trade off for Hisec ores in Null would be Null in Hisec as well . . . it is not balancing to begrudgingly hand some to Low in exchange for what you get from High.

I like the idea of angel and sansha caps . . . to round out the set. Although right now the new ships are coming in via faction warfare. That seems to be their plan for the next little while.

What the OP wrote was from the heart and I feel a bit sad that a lot of the usual suspects showed up with their usual arguments and causes.

I guess thats why no one is in the game then.

Because thats how the game had to be like at the start.

Besides, apparently the greatest number of accounts is in HS, according to Null big wigs.

When I was logging on 2 months back it was 22000 players, very playable, last night I looked for interest sake and it was down to 14000 players that’s a massive drop in just 2 months.

You hit the nail on the head tho.

It may be heartfelt but also very self serving.

He doesn’t want help for the whole of EVE. Just null 😃

You saw how fast they deflected when I brought up that nullers are making tons of ISK doing abyssals too. In even less risky environs than high sec peeps.

Sure just as soon as Concord protection disappears. If you put carrots in safe space, destruction isn’t going to balance them sufficiently, you’ll end up with hyperinflation.

Have you played Albion? Notice how the rewards gradually increase from Blue Zones (high), Red Zones (low) to Black Zones (null). It incentivises people to reach out into riskier areas of the game for rewards. Eve is backwards.

Having the best faucets in high sec isn’t ideal. However I’m not advocating for their removal, I think that mindset is why we’re at 20k PCU and why the game feels unrewarding for so many, I’m asking for null to have parity, Don’t get caught up in the binary fallacy that buffing null is to the detriment of high… It isn’t.

All areas of space should feel rewarding, null players are leaving because a 50% BRM system make 30m/hour in an Ishtar, the reward hooks have disappeared.

I’m very much one of the null players you refer to, I spun up high accounts for ISK making to run abyssals, burners and incursions. I simply don’t enjoy having to do that, the community I enjoy being part of is in null and I feel disconnected from that socially when I venture off to undertake content solo in high sec.

You really must try null life Mike, it would open a whole new perspective on things. I mean this eanrestly, you have a blind spot my dude.

> [@Mike\_Azariah](#):

> But by that argument things that make it better to NOT undock would be a good thing, right?

What made players undock before in great numbers which helped fuel the huge null sec wars and frequent pvp was the ability to replace what was lost. Income nerfs and resource nerfs alongside the indy revamp have cut the legs out from under people. People stopped undocking, content dried up and players started to leave.

Reintroducing rewards may not bring the players back, but it would bring the pvp back imo.

Huh I’m not talking about null im talking about the whole game, about critical mass and as people leave its more empty, the emptiness removes joy from the avg player making them eventually leave too and it becomes a cascade effect until the only people left in the game are those that truly don’t care if anyone else is even playing the game.

I don’t think for a moment that there are _stupid_ people working at CCP. The changes they implemented were not out of maliciousness. However, I also don’t think there are any true clairvoyants working at CCP. And in the very odd case of this being CCP saying “bye” to all those customers leaving, I may have to review my opinion, lol.

It’s the proverbial “medicine worked, but patient died”.

If it where only null sec guys leaving then why has the population halfed in a few months if high sec has the highest % of players?

It’s more than any space its eve as a whole it’s our faith in CCP that they are not leaving us with 5% of the devs working on Eve and the other 95% of devs working on other games.

No, more like “medicine worked, cancer removed”.

We don’t need more “give us excessive isk incentives or otherwise we won’t undock and it’s your fault, pls daddy CCP I want my 5th titan”. We do need more “autocannons go brrrrr, cool explosions!”.

The trouble here is: Individual players are intelligent. Lage groups of players can be dumb, but in predictable ways. And as a whole, particularly when competition is involved, players _DO WHAT WORKS_ and _PLAY TO WIN_ when they compete. If a strategy works, they will use it. If it doesn’t, they won’t.

This tells you that caps aren’t viable in combat in the current meta. This may be because they cost more than the battle was worth to win, or simply because they’re able to be countered by smaller ships run by a swarm of alpha alts, or something else. But there’s a reason for it, and saying “that’s on the players” is ignoring that there are _motivations behind the decisions_ players make. And when the players are deciding how to approach conflict, in general, they gravitate toward the most effective strategies. So that’s telling you something about what works in the game with the balance at the time of those wars.

> [@Aisha\_Katalen](#):
>
> “numbers go up” people want everything safer with less effort and less interaction.

What about the people for whom the “numbers going up” that matter most are the ones on their recorded interactions with others. I want to meet more players. I want to learn about other players. THOSE numbers are the ones i care most about growing. I have my own ways to go about it, and things I’d rather not do for my own reasons, which could potentially grow those numbers faster for me. But that is still a “numbers go up” person who wants to see the game’s playercount go up because that’s a really important number.

I’ve been travelling through nullsec and lowsec on an alt, and travelling into space controlled by the main empires. I’ve gone into at least one of the starter regions for each of the four main factions. Caldari space is more heavily populated than the others, Amarr space is less so. From what I can tell, this appears to be due to Jita’s rol as “the” trade hub - the others are there in name, but most trading doesn’t go there - and this is particularly true for Amarr. Their space is a wasteland. There needs to be more incentive to _spread out_ and have involvement throughout the game’s huge space. There need to be reasons why players want to be in each area of space. I’m new, and I can’t really say how you might incentivise this, but it feels like there’s a big part of the experience missing when there’s _ZERO_ competition for attention. This causes prices to be _WILDLY_ out of line in Amarr space too. Nobody’s buying, so people can afford to put in buy orders in mass quantities at 0.01ISK for valuable items, and reliably catch anyone new who’s just trying to sell something quick while in the new player systems. They’re being scammed by these prices and don’t know it. Nobody’s selling, so people can put sell orders at 2x or 3x the market value of a product and buy out any more reasonably-priced listings to keep those prices artificially inflated. And players checking the regional prices for these items will see that - because a lot of new players are falling for the scam prices because they don’t know any better - they’re around the _REGIONAL_ average price. The market in a quiet space which is inhabited by new people is a complete trash heap. This makes everything harder in Amarr space. And to make it worse, the lack of players also translates to a lack of corporations wanting to recruit. you don’t have activity, so you _HAVE TO_ jump on basically any offer with better tax than the NPC corps to get that little bit of an edge. Nobody’s _trying_ to win the hearts and minds of the denizens of Amarr space in the same way you find in a Caldari starting system. The game world in Amarr space is just another PvE MMO where you have to be just another NPC grinding away at quests and fighting the other NPCs.

I wish I had a solution, but I don’t. I don’t know what killed Amarr. I don’t know how to reverse that trend and bring it back to life. Beyond trying to get activity centered on myself when I’m there, and encouraging a couple of friends who are running in that space to do the same, I’m not sure how to fix it. But it feels like it’s a problem that needs work. Anyone else more experienced than me know how to do something about this? Please, enlighten me. Feel free to do so in-game through mail. My name is right there to be looked up, and my inbox is open.

@Dark_Shines

All those changes are fair but there needs to be compromise for null sec.
As a solo small gang player trying to create content in null sec we constantly run into the issue of Citadel Grid’s dening content.

As a compromise would you be willing to accept:
Citadels cannot target player ship’s unless they have been damaged to under 90% shields. They can defend them selves during seiges and big fleet battles with this change but they are useless when 5 players in frigs/cruisers/bc’s warp onto your citadel grid. You will need to form your own fleets to defend the citadel grid.

If CCP change that one thing then yea all your changes seem fair.
