Very simply, there have been many attempts at communication, none successful. I’m not one to think, without reason, “But _this time_ will finally be different.” If there are indications of a potential change, of circumstances that warrant more attempts, then we’ll stand off and make such attempts as are necessary. Otherwise, they remain a hazard to shipping, a potential threat, and it’s far better for all involved if we clear them from populated areas quickly and with a minimum of fuss. ---

Same old story, every time. Some people here do not seem to be following this whole story from the start. We tried observing; we tried talking, none worked. Kalaratiri already covered the main "why"s, let me jsut add this: If Navies and CONCORD aren’t shouting at every corner that some weird mute undead-ish aliens or whatnot are invading Empire space that doesn’t mean they are not doing anything. This week’s leak is the proof of that. ---

I stopped trying when my reference capsule was fried and I managed to haul my butt out of there in a burning ship after being attacked by Drifters after spending a week sitting at a respectable range from an Observatory and trying to “communicate” without any issues. ---
