It’s real easy to blame the “afk miner” when thats not even the people complaining about the change lol
That item was critical for the solo roamer or explorer. The person trying to do ls sites or grab a quick nul ore. When getting jumped by cloakys that ecm burst saves lives on a quick ship. Burst and warp before they get a chance to lock again. I lived in a wh for a bit and I also had one on my 100mn cruiser.

Saves lives _if you win the coin flip_.

I rarely ever used ECM burst jammers defensively, I don’t like my survival to depend on chance. I prefer to use different modules and different defenses that allow my own skill to let me survive, and lack of skill to let me die if I fail rather than lack of luck.

These modules don’t promote good gameplay; they just enable carebears who don’t know how to fly their ships properly.

Fitting a jammer on an Astero is an aberration. Same goes for things like nullifiers on covert ops ships for hacking they’re just crutches. I don’t even use warp core stabilizers, another modern classic carebear module in hacking explorers and miners. You either learn how to fly smart, or you die and learn the hard way. These modules just delay that learning process.

“It saved my ass several times.”
If a jammer saved your ass, then your opponent _deserved_ the kill you just gambled and got lucky.

Now that it got nerfed, here come the tears from people who never learned how to fly their ships properly… they’re getting exactly what they deserve.

for the astero, i’d slap on an oversized 10mn AB, and ideally a web and/or a warp scram. if you get jumped by another cloaky frig, you should be able to escape.

Ew ew ew! Why an armor rep and a shield extender and overdrive?
Your align time is good, just put another iStab in and use hyperspatial rigs to get around faster.
You don’t need a Burst Jam anyway for a scanning Astero, just use MWD plus three scan strength mids,
or even swap some rigs for even more scan strength!

> Because - the only reason they removed them from most ship classes was because of booshing as I am sure you are aware. This is the only reason. Slow ships can’t boosh like small nimble frigates can.

it seems you only focus on boosh
there are other reasons why burst jammers were considered as a problem
for example Tidi, large frigs alts fleets burst jamming, etc.

Also it seems to me that you have no idea about what you are talking about, since frigates cannot boosh
Among subcaps, only command dessies can boosh (and now carriers, but that’s another story)

Burst Jammers can generate an _extreme_ amount of server calls, especially in large TiDi slugfests.
Every ship and drone inside the range of the burst had a check to see if it was affected.
Those burst jam interceptor fleets of yore probably generated more server calls and more lag than any other single ship class on grid in big fights.
