…those days when you hire a politician to be Senior Director of AI Partnerships so Hilmar can add a buzzword to his portfolio of make believes…

> **[Fenris Creations Hires A Senior Director Of AI Partnerships](https://nosygamer.blogspot.com/2026/08/fenris-creations-hires-senior-director.html)**

Obviously EVE Frontier, the game nobody asked for and nobody plans to play and let alone pay for the privilege, was growing old with the blockchain buzzword, so now it needs the AI buzzword to pretend that owing 40 million $ to a loanshark is a good idea when your plan to recoup that investment consists of a game whose latest feature is that space will kill you for being in space even if you’re offline, or something equally brilliant.

PS: guess that now that their corporate monicker is “FC xxx”, they’re placing bids on who’s gonna be FC Up…

That’s why I asked if you’re talking allegedly, the loan is real?

I think FC needs to get their FPS out, so they can move on, they are locked in into the idea, no one can change their minds. Once it’s out, it’s out, reality will do the rest. Good luck to them.

I can see why, the IP and all the stuff, but FC demonstrates a lack of understanding Effort x Reward, so if they’re aiming at a big commercial success, I don’t think it will come, but if they aiming at their player base, I can see it working, not sure what it’s going to achieve tho.

Well, not actually, looks like the 40 million is a pure VC investment so when it fails, it’s VC who take a loss. Guess that even FC can find a greater fool even if it’s Anderseen Horowitz.

But both EVE Frontier and whatever is called the current FPS are just money sinks for EVE revenue, FC can afford to lose them and still have EVE as their only product for a while more.

And maybe the horse learns to sing and CCP goes back to dreaming of SF universes and not just keeping around the Goons and the rest of virtual arseholes who can’t exist without someone to mess with.

(Yet no matter what they do, CCP will freeze in the ninth ring of hell for what they did to Incarna)

Wait and see?

End scarcity now, across all known space.

Upgrade small corps defend capabilties with built in XXL batteries etc.

Implement a lottery system that reward players that fulfill some various tiers in Industry.

Like, give a free Titan and Titan expert system as 1st prize for one small corp achieving

one of the various “excellence” goals. Once a year.

Another lottery system that give out rewards once a month with, upgraded structures, with one year free worth of fuel and defence system…

The opposite of scarcity.

It should be a re-population effort after the big 2020 shock.

No.one saw pvper exploiting their new toys to destroy casual null-sec Fortizar operations and else.

But hitting Marauders was wrong.

Not seeing the potentials of the new Marauders was an oversight paid in blood and tears.

Catalyst ended scarcity for Miners, and temporarily gutted Marauders untill new ideas to re-populate

those areas of space, that the last scarcity-reactions wave started, will re-gain momentum.

* * *

It won’t be easy.

People can say what they will about Incarna but, it could have added a new dimension and different gameplay to Eve and possibly attracted some fresh blood. Remember it wasn’t the _idea_ of Incarna that flopped so hard and caused anger. It was the _execution_.

A combination of several factors helped to make the Incarna rollout a disaster: It was rushed out the door with serious defects and performance issues that caused major overheating issues with video cards. That, combined with the leaked “Greed is Good” monetization memo and the Summer of Rage protests and associated bad press, effectively killed Incarna. It limped on for a while longer as Captains Quarters, not iterated on and left to languish until FC finally pulled the plug on it.

Sadly, we’ll never know what Incarna could have been had FC continued to devote resources to it.

I’m not sure what we could have used a body for. What kind of content or gameplay loops could have been associated to that. Maybe it would have ended up as “barbies in space”, with fashion accesories added regularly, paid for by serious spaceship business. That could also have been the way for player-owned station (what I called “cottages in space”), customizable homes away from home, with the base functions of space stations (minus economically relevant ones like agents) so people grinded for a new color scheme, a new decoration, a new pool… or bid for prime locations with sights of an awesome space phenomenon…

There were many, many possibilities, for EVE being something else than a playground for assholes and a shrinking amount of paying customers deprived of their fun for the benefit of those assholes.

And here we are. EVE’s potential wasted and its earnings also wasted to chase buzzwords so Hilmar feels like he’s someone while talking to teh boiz… VR, blockchain, now AI, with a side of Three-Body Problem (triglavians…) and maybe some other fad I missed.

So much potential. Yet so little competence and courage…

Back then I remember there were lot’s of different suggestions made for in-station Avatar gameplay content… Everything from off the books Black Market contraband deals to full on Avatar Arena Combat Matches, both solo and team play…

Another suggestion was to have unsanctioned Labs located in Station lower levels to extract Implants from corpses collected in space, sorta like the old children’s game ‘Operation’…

Another one was to use the infamous ‘Door’ in the CQ as an access point for your clone to enter Dust 514, which now is basically Eve Vanguard…

Another suggestion was to have that ‘Door’ lead to an endless maze of corridors and dimly lit smokey rooms with locked containers to hack for loot…

Another one was while Sansha Incursions happened within system, stations would be locked down and Avatars would go deck by deck clearing out Sansha NPC’s and hack various station terminals to unlock the station…

In fact just before CCP gave up on Avatar gameplay content, they were actually working on a version of that for exploration sites…

So yeah, there was plenty of suggestions for Avatar gameplay content…

And here we have to reason WHY pearl abyss sold the game back to fc with 100 million loss…the game simply isn’t profitable enough as i said in another threat…obviously this is even worse than in a very bad dream…but as always…i exaggerate regarding to the fanboys…i simply HAVE TO…

EVE is a game about spaceships, it should focus on the spaceships. While Incarna was in development, very little work was spent on the spaceship part of the experience, and that was utterly unacceptable. At best another year of no updates to the spaceship part and we could have maybe had something like Second Life in space integrated into the client, which is not a good thing. Second Life is incredibly niche, much more so than EVE, and I’ve watched enough dnsl videos to know the kind of player that ”gameplay” attracts. If you want to play Second Life, just sign up for Second Life instead. It’s a versatile enough platform that you could more or less import your EVE characters to it, as well as make some New Edeny locales.

Second Life is a bit like EVE…where you ‘can’ join for free, but if you want a decent body, clothes, and a place to live you have to pay. I rent 4 different properties for my alts, and that costs about £7 a month. But a good body ( for example Legacy ) can cost £20 or so.

If you wanted to build an entire EVE type station you’d probably need an entire ‘sim’ ( 20,000 prims ) and that’s several hundred £ a month. But I have seen the entire Bridge of the USS Enterprise replicated on a smaller parcel. Every single item in Second Life is quite literally created by the players out of ‘prims’…on an otherwise completely empty parcel.

I don’t know if EVE uses prims/mesh technology, but for characters to be in EVE every body would need such, which requires extra server processing ( though cleverly most of the rendition is done locally on your PC ). Imagine how much more laggy Jita station would be !

Second Life and EVE both started in 2003. Second Life had ambitions of getting concurrency over 100,000…but never quite managed. Its currently about the same as EVE.

While I really like these posts, I never played SL and I enjoy learning, I really think complex solutions are a trap.

The solution is always a series of simpler actions in a chain. Meaning the AVATAR jump was too much to be done without previous steps and experience, the implementation was ■■■■.

Talking about EVE, it is just breaking the predictability of ship fits and behavior, nothing to fancy, just adding more flexibility would do. That would have opened other doors to less complains and changing orders.

EVE is about enforcing your will on others. Never forget that, that’s why some people are happy and others are ~~sad~~ bitter. Ships are just the way you do it. You can do it with money, time, cleverness, manipulation, you name it.

Second Live seems to be about having your vision and desires, with money.

EVE is kinda a step forward, because having it your way means violence (ingame) is allowed. You can’t (or shouldn’t) be allowed to have a local space to do it in peace. That’s a problem to be solved by FC.

I guess that sums up most of the threads complaining about something, some people understand EVE others do not. FC does not interfere, they just grab the money.

I could have used another example like WoW, everybody can raid Naxxaramas, there’s no fight for control, only a pseudo fight to see who’s best (first).

While EVE is not the first with that model, it seems to be the one that prevailed.

Second Life is not really a single environment like EVE but is about 40,000 ‘sims’, each one 256 meters by 256 meters by 5000 meters high…in which you can create whatever you can build. So you could have a tropical island dance club, or a dark dungeon, or combat sims ( which do exist in SL ). A good deal of it is residential sims, where people can live in anything from poky little flats to 50 bedroom mansions. However…sims with a lot of people in them can be laggy…and I think the same would happen with any attempt to add socialising in stations in EVE, especially as people would want complex, multi-polygon, 3D avatars in EVE.

Okay, I see. And sims can be connected to each other at the seams to make one large sim? In that case we will need only about 2400 sims to recreate Jita 4-4.

Hm, I checked out their wikipedia page, and I read the bit about creators (Linden Lab) maintaining that SL is not a game, in fact. So it just appears to be some kind of a simulation, where you can do whatever you want to do or something? Even in that way it is like EVE, as I feel that EVE is a pretty good simulation of alternate reality, if you will, if virtual.

It is the type of thing that appeals to me, so I might look a bit more into SL. I’m not interested in classical video games, where you have to go somewhere, and find something, and hack/shoot/etc something, and progress in a more or less linear way.

It’s a bit like VR Chat, if you’re familiar with that, just without the VR part. You have an avatar and walk around talking to other people’s avatars. You can visit people’s houses, buy houses of your own to invite friends over to, and buy various cosmetic items for your avatar.

The idea got lost due to bad implementation and lack of renewing.

EVE was not always bad, it got bad after years and years of half-assed patches.

The idea is solid, it’s not for everybody and it won’t be a 1 million sub game, but solid nonetheless.

So, just because Aiko has a good time flying catalysts with her alts it does not mean the idea was wrong, the game design is. Just like she can enforce her will, others also should, the problem is the balance between the activities.

Old CCP had a vision I do not share, either they see stuff I do not or they only care for one side of the balance. The problem is: players assume the other side of the balance is being secure, it’s not! It’s revenge!!!

EVE really failed, and I reiterate, failed miserably, at payback. It’s simply too easy to be an A-hole and move on, virtually zero consequences.

And that is what makes people bitter, I think it’s also simply stupid from FC to let it has it is, letting people pursue the A-holes would lead to even more money flowing, anger is a damn good motivator.
