They had to mine the rocks hollow to fuel the SKINR creative appellations. All you are left with is a residue of Gelid Omberdust Gloss … limited.

Let me reiterate.

Miners think less in terms of the end metal and more in terms of ore type, gangue minerals, and grade.

What is important to a miner is whether or not the rock is worth the time. With the **– Grade** system and the Mining Chipset, that determination is made in the blink of an eye.
Every second counts when hunters are out there ready to pounce.

Personally I don’t care what they call the rocks. I’m interested in what’s inside.
There’re plenty of numbers in EVE starting with solar systems:
1DQ1-A
HED-GP
B-R5RB
NOL-M9
VFK-IV
9-4RP2
X47L-Q
GE-8JV
K-6K16
Let’s demand they add names for those.
How about Microwarpdrive Deux?

In EVE, if I want to mine a rock, I shoot lasers at it. Full strength. Using Type B Crystals II at full strength.

It’s that simple.

… says the “new player”.

Yes, there are many solar systems outside high security space that have alphanumerical names with that pattern, and if you go to wormhole space you have an even different pattern.

Still, even the names of the systems you mentioned have far more flavour, and history, than plain numbers.

And, _cough_, there even is a lor reason behind that: All those systems weren’t Empire-Space for millenia, they were basically uncharted and unclaimed terretory for (ten)thousands of years.

Interestingly, many big alliances actually _do have_ internal names, both for Nullsec or Wormhole systems, but since the ownership can change, they didn’t made it into the UI.

On the other hand, players wouldn’t ever come to the idea to remove a regions system names and replace them with a set of generic numbers. It’s counterintuitive and simply _degrading_ the game.

New players certainly can open maps, but new players doing so usually won’t accidentally pick these particular systems.

I just wonder when you would biomass this one and go for the next. What is it that triggers your regular forum alt recycle?

This thread was pretty much forgotten in December 2025. 1 month after the fact someone who was on vacation during that time resurrected it. And after that there have been about 100 new posts made, of which 40-50% are made by people who like the ore name changes and are whining about people arguing against the change. Who’s keeping this thread alive again? Maybe stop posting your irrelevant comments and this thread will become quiet again at some point.

Original post was made to explain why the name changes affect the game negatively. If you don’t have anything constructive to add to that topic, you’re part of the problem you’re accusing others of being, those of you complaining of people speaking up against this change.

Wouldn’t remove of the ores a s a concept and replacing complex ore asteroids with one-mineral ones do a better job here? Just imagine:

- no more complex math of what to mine when you need some amount of minerals - you know what to mine instantly (example: Tritanium Ore Grade 1, Isogen Ore Grade 2, etc…)
- no more clutter in inventory: there’s not as many mineral types as asteroid types
- no more undermined and overmined minerals - mining better adapts to changes in mineral demand

This would improve user experience, right?

Or … Maybe… Kill something related to “Sci-Fi Universe” from the game?

Could you please read through the 356 posts of this thread before you reopen a subtopic that was already discussed? I did a bit of research on it already and found the exact opposite. If the composition changes then you get a different ore name and no grading.

If you can prove it, you are welcome. It would have been great to add a reference for review to your claim beforehand.

Raw ore is graded by measuring the concentration of valuable minerals within the rock, expressed as a percentage for base metals or grams per tonne (

) for precious metals. This process involves sampling and chemical analysis to determine if the deposit is economically viable to mine, with “cut-off grades” defining the minimum, profitable concentration.

**Key Methods and Factors in Ore Grading:**

- **Sampling and Analysis:** Representative samples are taken from the field, and chemical assays determine the precise metal content (e.g., gold is measured in

- **Cut-off Grade:** This is the critical economic threshold; material below this grade is considered waste, while above it is considered ore.

- **Physical Separation (Sorting):** Ore can be graded by size using shaker decks (coarse vs. fine) or separated by density using methods like hydraulic separation (gravity).

- **Technological Sorting:** Advanced methods use sensor-based sorting, such as X-ray fluorescence, optical sensors (color/texture), or magnetic separation to distinguish ore from waste.

- **Types of Deposits:** High-grade underground mines typically have 8–10
