As much as the market will bare…that’s called economics 101 and is what has driven EVE for almost 20 years so…

You can’t adapt, you die. Another that can will replace you. End of story.

I’m floored you haven’t mathed that up yet. Allow me to break it down - a marauder can only hope to bring in a few million per tick. About the same as in high-sec. The ONLY thing that makes ratting in null-sec more profitable is the carriers and their +4K dps. The reason to get into a carrier is the reason to move from high-sec to null-sec for ratting. Perhaps you should talk to ratters before completely dismissing them?

I mean they warned you about the mining nerfs and now you’re crying about ships costing twice what they did and in response, let’s just nerf the ratting - they must be the evil twats that caused it, right?

> Sorry, but that makes no sense. If you’re in a bigger and more capable alliance then why would you waste time farming with lower-tier players who aren’t good enough to compete with your primary alliance?

You should ask them, but … IF … I was in another bigger alliance, I would say, … IF … that blowing ■■■■ up all day while the corp salvages and collects the loot doesn’t make much isk.

Don’t think so. Renting prices go down because the demand goes down. Eventually the demand will be 0 and you won’t be able to give away space.

Boo hoo. People used to do nullsec PvE just fine in T1 BCs, perhaps if you were less obsessed with “OMG LOOK AT MY AMAZING TICK” you wouldn’t be stuck in a renter alliance.

> I mean they warned you about the mining nerfs and now you’re crying about ships costing twice what they did

Um, no. I’m not crying about ships being more expensive. In fact, I very openly said that I was looking forward to the increased prices and the increased opportunities for smart industry players.

> and in response, let’s just nerf the ratting - they must be the evil twats that caused it, right?

It’s not in response. It’s just CCP’s attention finally getting to a long overdue nerf to nullbears.

> You should ask them, but … IF … I was in another bigger alliance, I would say, … IF … that blowing ■■■■ up all day while the corp salvages and collects the loot doesn’t make much isk.

But wait, I thought the big alliances were the “OMG SUPER KRABS” farming everything in supercapitals with a massive umbrella guaranteeing safety and maximum ISK/hour, and that anyone who cares about maximum ISK would join them. Now you’re telling me that nobody in those alliances gets to do PvE, it’s 100% PvP all the time?

Hardly. More like admitting to losing IRL and having to spend extra time in EVE to make up for it.

This seems to be part of the cycle of emergent systems: Devs make emergent systems -\> Players utilise systems in innovative ways to maximise their results -\> Devs don’t like the way the emergent systems they made are being used and introduce changes to make players do what they want -\> Players utilise THOSE systems in innovative ways to maximise their results -\> rinse, repeat.

Major alliances like Goonswarm have been on-again, off-again with the concept of renting space. Lately, I believe, they make ISK thru structure usage taxes and don’t need “renters.”

Yet you are the one claiming carriers won’t be profitable. So the obvious answer is fly something that will be profitable. I mean it’s basic maths here. If y(subcap) \> y(carrier) - expenses, use a freaking sub cap.

What are you even talking about? The only thing we’re concerned with is ensuring our wallet has enough isk to replace our ships. It is RARE you find someone who going on about their ticks. The richest folks in renter space are ones doing trade and crafting. Usually, us ratters are broke because the loss of our ship could take months to replace and let’s face it - humans generally ■■■■ up more than once per every 6 months.

You seem to be alone among the PVP corps because they’re all crying about it.

You’ve once again failed to math out the point. Higher ship cost, higher risk to ratters, lower income. You don’t see how this is a knockout to ratting? You can’t be that daft.

Ummm yeah. You should spend 5 mins in a renter alliance. You wouldn’t make it. Why do you think there are rental alliances who are run by the major alliances out there? Do you think they are kind and charitable giving a nullbear the experience of nullsec? If so you’re more daft than I could have guessed.

Which can be done by flying cheaper ships. If you can’t afford to use a carrier then use something cheaper to replace and it doesn’t matter if your ISK/hour is a bit less.

> Usually, us ratters are broke because the loss of our ship could take months to replace and let’s face it - humans generally ■■■■ up more than once per every 6 months.

Speak for yourself. It’s been years since I’ve lost a PvE ship, and that’s including solo farming in nullsec. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I lost a PvE ship that wasn’t the result of crashes/disconnects/etc.

> You’ve once again failed to math out the point. Higher ship cost, higher risk to ratters, lower income. You don’t see how this is a knockout to ratting? You can’t be that daft.

I see how it’s a knockout to helpless perma-victims like you. I don’t see how it’s a problem for smart players, especially the ones smart enough to start industry characters to take advantage of the situation.

> You should spend 5 mins in a renter alliance.

Why would I want to waste my time on a group whose entire premise is being helpless perma-victims that literally have to pay someone stronger for the privilege of existing?

The carrier IS profitable if you don’t go nerfing the ratting. How is it so hard for you to get that point?

NOTHING in the ratting-scape will be profitable if we get 80% nerfs to ratting like some are reporting on the test server. Replacing your ship just 1 time will make it so you have to rat for a year to make up that loss - no matter the ship used. Sorry, that’s retarded.

This system forces a ratter to increase his exposure, which increases his risk of PVP in a PVE ship. If I’m in a pvp fit, I don’t mind pvping, but trying to fight a pve ship in a pvp fit is like Chuck Norris competing in the special Olympics. We all know this. The point is, a ratter doesn’t have a chance if he’s caught. But to add insult to injury we’re talking about nerfing the few places where he/she can rat where intel is rather solid? So the choice is to make no isk or lose your ship trying to make isk. It really just doesn’t seem like this was thought out very well.

Probably not since that would affect mission hubs in high sec. At the same time mission rats and high sec rats are only 20% of the value of null rats.

What’s always funny is you have some definite High Sec types in here not understanding what’s really happening with the changes to null.

The last few times CCP nerfed null, people ended up doing more stuff in high sec both pve and pvp (in the various forms of screwing with actual high sec residents). A bad enough nerf of null will have refugee nullsec plays clogging up high sec PVE content, screwing up LP store value and various other forms of payouts.

In 2011 when CCP nerfed anoms, the wait lists for incursions became incredibly long, AND null sec players (who had toons that could fly blingy ships better) started to shove the high sec casual and newbros straight out of the activity and incursion FCs chose more isk per hour over being open to lower skilled pilots.

Remember what happened recently to Niarja and other trig invasions when null groups got involved? Yea, that, but now magnified across all of high sec, mining up “your” rocks, running “your” invasions/incursions/burners/missions etc etc.

Just saying try not to celebrate null nerfs too hard, you might just be celebrating your own screwing…again lol.

Ratting 101 - if no one is ratting there there is a good reason.
