In case you missed it, you cannot opt out of MESS. It’s in all nullsec systems, already deployed for you.

> Is having Sov really worth it? Again, sounds very unfun. And that was before any changes.

Before blackout - yes, totally. Now with a threat of another blackout, or mining/ratting removal, nobody can tell.
Income-wise, nullsec has been slipping for a while now, I think pretty much any other space would be better now, if you can’t rat in a super under super umbrella.

Botters don’t care because the effort per isk is still effectively zero. They will make less out of the bots but so will everyone else so the value of ISK will increase.

I mean this only works if the multiplier reduces significantly with highly ratted systems. If its only like 10 or 20% then meh so what its not going to stop people staying in the same system for very little penalty.

You need to be looking at 50%

Is this going to have a significant impact on ADMs?

PS this does nothing to stop botters whatsoever… but i think CCP are doing this so that people are moving about more, thus making botters dock up more. But dont matter if they are in the same alliance though does it.

50% is already built-in, MESS takes 50%.
Reduced multiplier is on top of that.

Attacker is likely in a mwd ship because nullsec. You can be in an AB ship waiting the second the foreigner is shown in your local. If you fail to capitalize on these for a lack of ingenuity or understanding of pvp, that’s fine aswell, simply accept that a part of your income will be forfeited.

No one is forcing you into anything, but refusing to interact with the intruders, or refusing to defend what you call yours will now carry a mild penalty

> [@Lloyd\_Roses](#):
>
> waiting

Every plan that includes the word “waiting” is essentially impossible - that means you have to sit in a pvp ship (already a loss), on MESS waiting, and worst of all, your efforts would be completely futile if there’s multiple attackers, and your income is below 0%, because you took a ship loss, and your ISK got stolen on top of that. Would you do whatever you do to get income, if 50% of it would be lost unless you sit on a plex for 3 hours and not allowed to lose an engagement.

> [@Lloyd\_Roses](#):
>
> forcing

MESS is deployed in every system, you are forced into it.

> [@Lloyd\_Roses](#):
>
> but refusing to interact with the intruders

What if intruders refuse to interact with you? Imagine a situation that would surely become typical. Some asshat messes with MESS but kites away from any attempt to catch him. Like all roamers, he’s not there to pvp, he’s just there for MESS. There is no way to catch him. There is no way to get him off MESS without keeping 3 hour watch, which is FUN AND ENGAGING GAMEPLAY.

> [@Lloyd\_Roses](#):
>
> or refusing to defend what you call yours

Imagine that you commute by your bike, but a lock requires you to hold it in your hand for 3 hours, or 1 wheel disappears, and people around you start laughing that you “couldn’t defend what you call yours”.
Would you ride such a bike?

And if a gang of bike thieves comes in, you lose your wheel anyway, and some of your clothes. Fun!

So apparently the multiplier on Sisi goes down as far as 30% (from a baseline of 100%). Then the ESS takes half, so 15%.

And see above, it’s not going to make botters move, it’s just going to make botters rotate bots.

Once you’re in charge of running the game then maybe your opinion will matter. Many people are going to run the content they enjoy and try to avoid the content they don’t, regardless of what you think, and especially regardless of your opinion on who is trash and who “belongs” in game. I’ll keep paying my sub and exclusively seeking out solo pve as long as ccp allows me to, regardless of how you think i or anyone else should play.

P.S.: Perma ban all ACTUAL botters!

CCP does, the problem is how easy it is to spin up new ones.
This is why CCP has been implementing changes to try and make it harder.

Things like removing Heavy Drones from Alphas, VNI bonuses being changed, etc. But they need to hit a balance between giving enough to Alphas while limiting the degree to which these free accounts can be exploited as bots.

They’d just revert back to abusing the old Trial Accounts instead.

Plus, this would kill the gains in the playerbase that Alpha accounts have contributed to. It’s better and healthier for the game overall to keep Alphas than it is to remove them and go back to the old model.

The ESS bubble scrambling out to 20km (?) has been really weird, but since everyone will land scrammed, that seems like a really good point of conflict that still favors the defender.
>
> The 75km scram radius has been confirmed as a typo on day 1 btw.

> For roamers atleast, even if the locals refuse to fight, they will still lose some pennies via ESS, and the locals have a point they can figure out how to defend or even use these scram mechanics to their advantage. That 450mil pimp vaga isn’t going to stand up against a mean AB atron right on the ESS.

The only issue with this is that locals will have to have standing fleet sitting next to ESS and most of the time doing nothing.

In addition to standing fleet which is sitting on undock and is ready to go and rescue some ratter or miner who got caught.

Having a target in system is not the same as having a target that can be killed. Cloaky campers and Nano Kitey Garbage, for example.

> [@Orca\_Platypus](#):
>
> The scram mechanics is a MAJOR DISADVANTAGE of the defender, because offender enters first and can effectively choose range, or disengage in some slippery stuff, wait till defender leaves camping ESS, and go in again.

This is a really good point. Anything that is interdiction nullified will not land in a predicable spot on the ESS bubble like everything else will. Maybe CCP will consider adding an anti-cloaking and anti-nullification effect the the bubble to sort that out, if that becomes the predominant FW warp-core-stab avoidance gameplay.

> [@Orca\_Platypus](#):
>
> This trolling can go on for days every 5 minutes. I definitely won’t be able to keep it going and will have to dock up until this system is scrapped.

Citadel damage cap mechanics were designed to give defending fleets time to form and mount a defence to counter the 100 ship dread bomb that would just reinforce the POS in a single siege cycle. Waiting to see if there will be something similar for the ESS, otherwise it will just be fast moving groups robbing one ESS after the other.

There are people who still rat in an incursion system so they don’t have to move, that’s a %50 hit to bounties, so its not like the ESS is going to make everyone change their behaviours.

No, that pretty much describes a Null PvP as it was over 5 years ago and its not like much has changed.

Do not be so silly. Industrialists know a what point to spread their reactions over two systems to avoid the index charges, botters will do the same thing with their herds, not like they have to sleep after all.

> [@Karak\_Terrel](#):
>

A few more random NPC dreadnaught spawns would fix this quite easily.

> **Not** simultaneously, mind you. Instead, the optimal solution is to see exactly how fast their normal system degrades, then spin up exactly that same number of alts in a system that isn’t being over-farmed, and add a ‘check system multiplier’ step to their process. If the system multiplier in System A is too low, check B. Then C. Then D.

Yep, there’s the cold hard logic at work.

Providence…working as intended.

I think the new Concord bounty system in Null will help weed out bots in Null.

Does anyone have any ideas how the new bounty system would be used to weed out botters in Null?

I am not sure what you’re talking about. Everything, nullified or not, lands on a beacon, and you can’t take the gate cloaked (you can cloak mid-warp though).
And it’s CCP we’re talking about. Stabbed stealers who avoid all pvp are going to be the predominant gameplay on day 1. Like I said, fighting for your ISK in MESS is one thing, which you’re likely not getting, what you’re getting is cloaky stabbed garbage which will be uncatchable, and will go for every penny in your MESS unless you sit there like a mother hen for all 3 hours till it releases your ISK.

> [@Litsea\_Reticulata](#):
>
> Waiting to see if there will be something similar for the ESS, otherwise it will just be fast moving groups robbing one ESS after the other.

In current mechanics, nothing. You either form, undock, land, take gate, and see the slippery asshole cloak up in 5 minutes, or lose your ISK. Repeat a minute after you sat there doing nothing and left, for 3 hours.

> [@Litsea\_Reticulata](#):
>
> Please. Sit an alt on the ESS and continue on with the others as normal.

Would work with ESS, however, MESS is a different beast, you can’t just hit share like on ESS, and be done with it, it’s 3 hours till it releases, and all 3 hours you have to sit in full defense fleet, because, surprise, roaming filament chickens are often not alone.

Never seen people rat in incursion systems tbh, because it’s reduction also to resists and dps, meaning you lose more than 50%. When incursion happens in our constellations, it’s machariel/logi time for the skilled and able, and quit-for-a-week time for the rest.

The classic forum ■■■■■■■■, aimed against someone who’s not in a renter alliance, used to be far from bottom tier (but then blackout “fixed” that), and why forum ■■■■■■■■ like you is wrong in every word they say.

> [@Merin\_Ryskin](#):

Because mining removal ensured I get no more ships built.
Because, miraculously, I don’t have a selection from every ship in the game on the nearby market hub like your jita-bound ass does.
Because slippery bs is generally uncatchable, which is why it exists, and known by everyone who actually tried to catch one outside of forums, you incompetent twerp.

Bots make the same.
Players make less.
Income “in general” is reduced!
Mission Accomplished?

They said downright insane wrong stuff about complacency and abundance, which is typical CCP of the madness era, pretty much admitting they are going at it yolo-style just as with blackout, the changes aren’t meant to be playable and there’s no commitment to making them playable, they are there for Hilmar, not for you.
