Unless you’re willing to **really** look (search, inquire), it’s generally not accessible.

I completely agree that Tier 6 Abyssals are not intended for new players.

My point was broader than Tier 6 itself.

I was referring to the overall PvE progression in EVE, including newer, returning, and solo players who gradually work their way through different PvE activities over time.

The question I’m interested in isn’t whether T6 should be easier, but whether the overall PvE journey remains engaging and welcoming throughout that progression.

I’d say nah, it doesn’t.

But then this isn’t really a PvE game so noone, who matters, cares.

It’s not supposed to be welcoming.

You are getting isk for competitive gameplay.

If you aren’t good enough, you don’t deserve the isk.

I certainly agree that the highest levels of PvE should require skill, preparation, and carry meaningful risk.

Where we differ is that I don’t believe challenge and enjoyment are mutually exclusive.

To me, the best game design achieves both: it rewards skilled players while also creating an experience that people genuinely enjoy returning to.

Those two goals don’t have to contradict each other.

They can run the less dangerous, less profitable and less demanding tiers until they have all the knowledge they need. Thats called _progress_, both in skilling ingame and personally.

Seriously, no one should come to this game, purchase himself an old char with Credit Card money or boost one up with Skill Injectors and then directly succeed to run the most lucrative high-tier content without learning all the involved mechanics. You know that the most important part in a bank robbery is the escape? Same for abyssals. The stuff is only _yours_ if you brought it safely to the tradehub of your choice and put it into the market. Until then it is _not yours_. You have temporary control over it, but it’s still open to grab for anyone who can get their fingers on it, even if that means turning your ship into a wreck.

Uh, new player PVE is easy…if anything it’s too easy as I hear a lot of people quit the game due to it being boring.

I actually agree with much of what you’ve written.

Progression is an important part of EVE, and I don’t believe players should be able to jump straight into the most rewarding content without understanding the mechanics involved. Learning, improving, making mistakes, and adapting are all part of what makes EVE rewarding.

I also like your analogy that the escape is part of the “heist.” That’s a good way of looking at Abyssal Deadspace.

Where my perspective differs is that I’m not questioning the existence of risk or progression. I’m simply asking whether every part of that progression still provides the best possible long-term experience for players with different preferred playstyles.

Those are two different questions, and I think both are worth discussing.

First of all, this is ■■■■■■■ word-salad.

Secondly, high tier abyssals are basically “end game” (such as it is) PvE content, so this amalgamated slop can be reframed, accurately, as follows:

“…but it does raise the question of how accessible [end game content] is for newer returning, or less experienced PvE players.”

It actually doesn’t raise that question at all, chiefly because it’s a stupid question for obvious reasons. End game content is not supposed to be accessible for those players. They are supposed to grow into it, and part of that is learning how to manage Eve’s PvP hazards.

obviously…several here are using AI to “talk” back at the crowd.

OP, as far as "new or “returning” players.. thats why FC created Exordium.. so they don’t have that “expectation” that they will get ganked or what not since there is no pvp in Exordium.

It is curious how almost all of the slop-posts we see on here are some variant of this one. Almost like the folks who can’t figure out how to thrive in the Eve Online EZ mode of highsec can’t do anything _else_, either.

I would like to clarify the intention behind my original feedback, as I feel it may have been misunderstood in parts of this discussion.

I am not asking for the removal of PvP, nor for highsec or PvE content to become completely safe or risk-free. I fully understand that EVE Online is a PvP-centric sandbox and that risk is an essential part of its design.

My concern is more specific: certain PvE experiences, particularly instanced content like Abyssal Deadspace, can create situations where the transition from PvE to PvP feels extremely predictable and unavoidable rather than dynamic or player-influenced.

In my view, the issue is not the presence of PvP itself, but the degree to which the player feels they still have meaningful agency after completing the PvE activity.

I also fully acknowledge that EVE’s design philosophy has always included risk tied to reward, and I do not dispute that. However, I believe there is room for discussion about how that risk is presented and whether some mechanics could better support both:

- meaningful PvE progression and enjoyment
- and consistent PvP interaction without feeling scripted or forced

I enjoy EVE Online and I am not advocating for simplification of the game. I am simply trying to contribute feedback from a PvE-focused perspective, which is still a significant part of the player base.

Lastly, I think it is important to remember that all of us started somewhere, and different players naturally gravitate toward different playstyles over time. PvP-focused players, PvE-focused players, and everyone in between all contribute to the ecosystem of EVE in different ways.

My intention is not to argue against any playstyle, but to contribute to a constructive discussion about how certain PvE systems feel in practice.

Especially if they’re very long and ignore all I’ve said before, because I’m not going to keep repeating what I said, even if their AI is.

@Pico_Mega can you answer to my post? You completely ignored it.

1. How does Abyss running and its pre-determined position of exit differ from other pve like mining or anomaly running?
2. How many abyss runs you did successfully before getting ganked for the very first an only time?

Seriously, posting such rant after being ganked for the very first time is pathetic. I would understand that if you lost 3 Gilas within say a week that you could come to this conclusion that it is too dangerous and too easy for the gankers, but you were ganked the very first time! And then you went to cry to forums.
