I’ve scanned the Data Training Sites and warped to them, but where there should apparently be a Training Container I only see a cloud of gas. Am I missing something? ---

There should be a container in your overview when you warped to the Data training site. I see two probable cases: You warped to a gas cloud instead, not to a Data site, or your overview is not showing the container (even when empty it is on overview). ---
