Wrong. Gas sniffers AFK mine all the time. Sometimes they get blown up and lose almost nothing. They set timers to return to their computer.

Ishtars AFK rat in null all of the time. They make mad money. They’re simply there to print ISK while AFK. It’s so profitable that people set up alts that run pretty much 24/7 while AFK.

Both of those activities and more happen AFK in null, but do NOT happen AFK in High Sec. I just love how you keep ignoring that hoping that I’ll stop talking about it because it destroys your entire argument.

You’re wrong again! Losing Ventures and Ishtars is no loss and no RISK. At all.

Losing my Orca that I mine with in High Sec- 3,000,000,000 ISK.

Losing the Hulk my alt mines with me in High Sec- 400,000,000 ISK

Losing my Athanor that I just flew through Uedama with maybe 20 minutes ago: 2,000,000,000 ISK

Losing a Venture in Low Sec, Null Sec, or J Space: Well, it’s worth so little that it’s essentially free.

Losing any of the Ishtar ISK printing factories in null sec: Well.. The loss is so minimal it’s not even worth calculating.

So what? They are out in space, being a possible target for anyone who spots them. Thats why they deserve their money.

You don’t, you hide behind a magic CONCORD shield and rely on the fact that 99.99% of all other players simply aren’t gankers who don’t care to mess around with CONCORD.

You are a coward, thats why you don’t deserve higher profits. Those “gas sniffers” are simply clever (much more clever than you btw), they did a calculation about how often they can lose and replace their venture while huffing afk and still make good profits. If it works out for them, more power to them! I know a guy who makes _billions over billions_ mining AFK with barges. He simply doesn’t care for losses, since each barge pays for itself 10times before it explodes. And all the time he is a target and possible content for anyone else out there.

But you aren’t. You want to be left alone. You don’t want interaction. You want a magic NPC police protecting your ships. So well, enjoy the crumbs while others eat the cake.

> [@Glenduil](#):

> You’re wrong again! Losing Ventures and Ishtars is no loss and no RISK. At all.

Sure it is. It’s a calculated loss, like any good businessman calculates how often a tool breaks and and neets to be replaced and how much profit he has to make to make the investment worthwile. Smart guy.

But since you are bad at business, you think hiding in HS in tanky ships is _so smart_. While everyone else is outperforming you by just leaving HS.

That’s not really how risk assessment works. You’re ignoring the “probability” aspect of “probability \* impact”.

Your expected losses per-hour-undocked are substantially lower (bordering on nil) than, e.g., a ratting ishtar.

Thanks for that valuable addition, Namdor.

Risk assessment is useless without knowing the probability as well.

The probability of losing your ship when AFK in HS is significantly lower than when you are AFK outside HS and someone else spots your ship.

I was about to write that when I saw Glenduil’s post earlier but got distracted by a fleet ping.

So piloting a free ship on a free account in null sec is somehow better? Keep thinking that and play however you wish. I will never change how I play for you. Flying trash ships isn’t my idea of fun. And it’s just not worth it to fly an expensive ship into Null just so someone like you will like me more. I honestly can’t think of a single reason to let you influence my style of play.

Single Player and Playing Solo are not the same thing.

Single Player means there is only one player, period.

Playing Solo means you are choosing not to socially interact with the other players around you.

And a Venture loss is significant to you? I’m genuinely asking. Null Sec income can’t afford Ventures? I’m sorry to hear that. I honestly am. I’m done with this conversation. No one cares about null seccers losing Ventures.

Speak to me in game if you honestly have a problem with how I play this game. I will no longer continue this pointless discussion of why you all need therapy because we play in High Sec.

You confuse me with someone who cares what you do. I don’t.

I just like that people who hide in HS behind a magic NPC police shield shouldn’t have access to more than a few crappy low-value resources. It’s a nice balance and a nice motivation for smart people to actually dive into real game, gathering riches and being targets for others while doing so. The smart ones survive, getting better, and even outperform an Exhumer in Highsec with a cheap Venture somewhere else.

Not? My wallet claims otherwise. While we had this little chit chat here at the boards we did a little miningfleet gathering several billion ISK in Gneiss in almost no time. In maxskilled Exhumers + Commandship of course. Only beginners need to fly a cheap Venture. We can fly the same stuff you do, just making 5 times the money. 🤷‍♂️

If the context were different, he would just as readily go on about how much EHP his freighter or orca has and how [ungankable that makes it](https://forums.eveonline.com/t/expanding-criminal-activities-in-high-sec/489326/142), so he grasps the concept, for sure, and is electing to ignore it in favor of pretending that asset value and risk are the same thing. Whatever suits the agenda of the thread.

This argument is asinine & ignorant of the playerbase. Many people play MMOs to partake in a “living universe”, but as solo playstyles, without joining guilds or alliances, doing their thing in complete freedom.

Returning to the OP, the point I raise is that there current are already solo pve activities available that are more isk/hr rewarding than mining. Mining solo is punished by the game design itself and it shouldn’t have to be this way.

The new hidden ore anoms of Dark Ochre, Gneiss requiring players to scan down in LS or NS, could have been designed like the gas anoms without NPCs. As a reward for players who explore and mine on small fast ships, to step onto sovereign space in null, or ninja in low sec.

These are not the current ore anoms. Content for the horde of multiboxing miners remain good.

Edit: For those who do not comprehend why the design of NPC spawns in hidden ore anoms punish solo players; I in a expedition (exploration) frigate probe down a hidden site, I start mining, random rats come and end the session. My site is basically unusable unless I go & grab a combat ship to take out the rats. Meanwhile, gas huffers can do so without NPC spawns ruining their scanned gas sites. Or buzzards can filament into NS, fly around and ninja all the relic/data sites, no NPCs end their session, only hostile players can (which is the risk factor). By removing NPC spawns from HIDDEN ore anoms, CCP will make ninja mining solo possible & the rewards are decent (not great, but decent enough).

Not everywhere. In Wormholes, after 20 minutes NPCs appear in all Gas sites and you either kill them, you flee or they kill you. And especially in the higher up classes, the NPCs spawning in a Vital- or Instrumental Core site can even crush a Marauder that didn’t take them serious enough.

Question remains: Why don’t just just engage in the content that _can_ be done solo instead? Isn’t it just enough? Why should CCP design more and more stuff with the “solo pilot” in mind? Just do what you _should_ do in a mass-multiplayer-online game: communicate and cooperate. You don’t even have to “join groups” to do that. Just find like-minded people that want to play mostly on their own and only meet up to tackle a specific content they can’t do alone. And then go their own ways again afterwards.

You really make things more complicated than they are.

The facts are, harvesting resources in hidden anoms in LS like gas sites, can be done by solo players in frigates for decent rewards precisely due to absence of NPC spawns ruining the site (requiring combat alts). Now that CCP added hidden ore sites requiring scanning in LS & NS, it should also reward the solo exploration ninja playstyle.

More content for different playstyle = good for the game. Attracts & keep player interest.

There’s no good argument against this, besides the “don’t solo in an MMO” throwaway line. With the proposed change, people like me who enjoy exploration (relic/data) & gas harvesting, will also have a viable target in ore mining hidden sites. While everyone else still have their multiplayer pve content for exhumers & orcas, esp with the new Prismaticite and HS omber.

Edit: To add, by making hidden ore viable for solo miners, it will also provide more content for pvpers in LS & NS. As gas huffers now attract hunters, expanding their content can only be healthy for the game.

Train your skills for mining to max. Invest in a mining barge and put in the best mining implants. Pick the best ore to mine and be ready to take advantage of any anomalies you find. You won’t make as much as a mission runner but you can still make a living. Also networking. Find fleets and ask to join. Getting boosts and compression is fantastic.

Thats a logial fallacy. That existing sites allow tactic A, does absolutely not mean new sites should _also_ allow tactic A. There is no relation between the two, they are different content.

Yeah, and a ‘different’ playstile to yours is _cooperation_. 🤷‍♂️

Sure there is. The sites shouldn’t be easily accessible for daytrippers and explorers but offer better profits for local residents that have combat ships nearby to clear the sites. Sounds reasonable to me. You can still do these sites solo, just not in an unarmed ship.

> [@Kana\_Kito](#):

Barely. People in unarmed ships tend to warp out the moment someone enters the local anyway. Or at least if anything comes on DScan. It’s incredibly tricks to even catch one, especially in LS where you cannot bubble and probably won’t catch him on the next gate even when knowing where he warped.
This argument is hair-thin.

This doesn’t logic because locals who live here can stage their barges & exhumers, providing far more profitable exploitation of these hidden ore sites.

Day trippers, explorers and solo players like me do not in fact profit more with our Endurance or Prospect. Especially for ore mining, an Exhumer will 2x the mining rate of a Prospect. And ofc, if you have “friends” (or multibox) a horde of ships & mining boosts, it will be far more profitable.

I just ask that devs give exploration solo players another viable alternative besides gas huffing, and the hidden ore sites they added in the recent update is the perfect candidate. Just remove NPCs.

And yet every day, ventures, expedition frigs, and the new mining destroyers get wrecked in LS & NS.

Think of these new hidden sites as bait. If the bait is enticing enough, the prey will come, and it gives content to those who fly bombers & t3 covert cruisers content. Just as those who hunt relic/data day trippers enjoy their content.

I have no problems with you playing in high sec. You’re entirely free to play EVE however you like!

What I have problems with is when people say things that make no sense. Things like “high sec flies the most expensive ships”, which clearly isn’t true because high sec players aren’t even _allowed_ to fly thoe most expensive ships in their part of space. Or when you say that you have much higher risk in HS than outside HS, even though far more miners get killed outside HS.

Or your last remark, which assumes that NS players ‘cannot afford losing Ventures’, based on the assumption that null sec players only fly Ventures to mine.

I realize you’re rarely in null sec, but many of us fly Orcas and Exhumers, just like in HS. People sometimes even take out Rorquals when it’s reasonably safe to do so, which makes the NS mining fleets more expensive than those in HS. And in a riskier part of space - we do not have CONCORD to kill anyone who catches our mining ships.

Ventures I use too in null sec, mostly to move my own JF or Rorqual around. And [sometimes I lose them](https://zkillboard.com/kill/124275744/). You don’t need to care about that indeed.

But it would help your arguments if you didn’t pretend to know null sec without playing in it.
