It’s not everyday that my rant gets translated into a dev blog: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/fw2oj8/ccp\_are\_handling\_tiericide\_on\_modules\_in\_a\_very/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/fw2oj8/ccp_are_handling_tiericide_on_modules_in_a_very/)
But here we are! 😬

CCP you have rocked on the listening to feedback front in ways i can’t even express. I’m pretty motivated to write more if i see an issue.

ON that note i _do_ have two comments:

1. **Gotan armor repper:** In the dev blog it’s clearly stated that Gotan’s Armor repper should be Metalevel 15. Yet in the game currently it’s only lvl 11. I believe that’s someone who forgot the module.

2. **Deadspace vs Officer modules** It irks me that deadspace modules has a meta lvl of 16, while A lot of officer modules are below that(11 out of 14 officer modules for armor reppers as an example) The power level of modules should be reflected in their rarity, yet that’s not the case right now.
X/A/B/C-Deadspace modules are VERY farmable and easy to obtain. That is not the case of the officer modules, that require dedicated grinding or luck. If the current balance is kept, it means that you have 11 officer modules out of 14 that are essentially worthless because their strength is below that of Deadspace modules… I think that is a real shame.

I reallydon’t think it makes much sense to have officer modules below farmeable deadspace modules.

I totally agree with that.

- storyline should be meta 6,7 (6 for ultra compact with lower stats than T2, and 7 for compact with T2 stats)
- faction should be meta 8(for the compact/enduring version),9(for the stronger version),
- deadspace should be meta 10,11,12,13 for C, B, A, X type;
- officer should be 14,15,16 instead of 11,13,15,17 presented [in the article](https://www.eveonline.com/article/qbroym/deciphering-tiericide).

And the meta level should be an indication of the stats, not a random number.

> I’m wondering, why are meta modules strictly better than T1 modules? Why can’t there be some sort of tradeoff?

Because that’s what meta modules _are_. T1 are ‘meta 0’ modules. The various flavors of ‘this is better than standard mass-produced McDonald’s modules, but not as good as T2’ are meta 1. T2 are meta 5, etc. It _would_ be kind of nice to see the ‘Basic’ or ‘Civilian’ things moved to Meta 0, with T1 at Meta 1, and the improved variations set to Meta 2, though.

Yes, but some people aren’t going to notice the difference because they sound so similar. Maybe call them ‘Polyspectral’ instead?

> [@CCP\_Nomad](#):
>
> Yes, we do change the the “Basic” by making them into storyline modules with primary attribute similar to T1, but with very low fitting requirements. We apply similar treatment to “Micro” modules. For example, in [March 2020 release](https://www.eveonline.com/article/q6z2qy/patch-notes-for-march-2020-release) we have converted all Micro Capacitor Boosters into a new ‘Seed’ Micro Capacitor Booster storyline module.

Right, I forgot about that. Why make them storyline modules, though? Are they just not going to drop from anything?

> [@CCP\_Nomad](#):
>
> The Civilian version of all modules is also something we are looking at, but changes in this area would have to involve much deeper work as that affects both the New Player Experience and the free Corvettes.

Well, Civilian modules are essentially useless, AFAIK. Changing them to ‘Basic’ modules would just make them niche.

As for the Corvette issue…maybe make ‘Basic’ modules available to buy from/sell to NPC vendors for small amounts of ISK?

> We try to leave a reference the old flavor names, but it might be a shortened form. For example, the _I-a Polarized Armor Regenerator_ was renamed to _I-a Enduring Armor Repairer_ and _‘Accommodation’ Vestment Reconstructer_ was renamed to _ACM Compact Armor Repairer_ . The _Inefficient Armor Repair Unit_ and _Automated Carapace Restoration_ are no longer referenced anywhere in the game.
> This is indeed interesting idea for preserving the old full names. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, I saw that. I just dislike removing flavor unless there’s literally no other option, and my suggestion was intended to keep the flavor around with the new naming theme you have going. And you’re welcome to use the idea!

If they go with my suggestion, they could make ‘Adaptive Invulnerability Field’ a model of Multispectrum Hardener manufactured by one of the Caldari megacorps, with the name hailed as some expert marketing! 😁

I was talking about meta modules having a bonus **and** a drawback when compared to vanilla T1 modules. The [Fleeting Compact Stasis Webifier](http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/item.php?type_id=4027), for instance, sounds like it ought to require less power and/or CPU to fit in exchange for using more capacitor energy every time it cycles. Here’s an example of what I’m thinking:

| Bonus Name | Malus Name | Effect |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Ample | Limited | Ammunition capacity |
| Compact | Expanded | Power grid/CPU requirements |
| Enduring | Fleeting | Capacitor drain |
| Restrained | Unchecked | Drawbacks/side-effects |
| Scoped | Short | Range |
| Precise | Loose | Accuracy |

The names may need some work, but I think they give you an idea of what I’m trying to do here. I don’t think Meta T1 modules should be strictly better than non-meta T1 modules like they are now; it should be entirely reasonable for a newer or less-skilled character to use a combination of T1 and Meta modules when fitting a ship instead of Meta-only.

Right, but the point of the meta modules isn’t that there’s a trade-off, but that they’re _better_ in some way. Vanilla T1 modules can be cranked out by the millions. They’re cheap. They’re not limited in supply. They’re supposed to be, well, garbage, really.

Should it be that way? Doesn’t matter. Ultimately, it’s irrelevant. CCP’s decided how they want stuff, and it doesn’t look to be changing any time soon. 😕

That difference is literally only the last two letters of a very long word. An even smaller difference proportionally than say… thermic vs. thermal, which I believe was addressed in a previous round of module tiericide to removal the confusion over searching for therm and/or anti-therm items in the market years ago.

I understand why CCP wanted to get rid of both the adaptive and the invulnerable parts of our good ol’ invulns, but… multispectrum vs. multispectral should be just as much, if not even more, confusing than thermic vs. thermal was.

By the way, this is an official German police car for highway pursuits (Autobahnjagt) and no this one doesn’t have the electronic maximum speed limit on by default.

But there is a consensus that above a certain speed, the chasing of a car over the speed limit is too dangerous for the population and other drivers on the highway to continue, even though this car does not have any problems going up to 290km/h (this is very fast but I don’t know by heart how many miles per hour that is - I come from Europe. We don’t use imperial units).

TLDR. For those who dont want to get super confused about all this useless information.
Theres nothing to decypher or know here.
Eve got too many modules of the same type. They are reducing each type to 4 variant. With ur usual faction and whatnot extras.

This devpost just confuses the ■■■■ out of people.

50 mph is about 80 kph… so… 290 kph is about 180 mph.

Make the game remember the old names and link the old names to the new names in the db.

This also helps to with evepraisal and zkillboard, aswell as old saved fits and whatnot.
