Drugs are different story and don’t last long, I was thinking about extra features we might be able get only by paying online and that might be untradeable and last for a week or longer. Like when i played Travian some ten years ago and could get +25% resource production in that game for real money. Or how about paying to have an extra slot on a ship? No drugs, skills or implants allow that. ---

Just a hunch but Pearl Abyss was probably thinking that they want to get into Sci-fi MMO market, and instead of starting a new IP deciced they’d get an established one. ---

If they go P2W they’ll lose all the players that make EvE what it is. If they go the lootbox route they’ll hit problems with anti-gambling regulations very quickly in European countries at least. ---

Which then becomes gambling if it’s random with the hope of ‘winning’ a better item by paying. It’s a very fine line to walk, and if they try I think they’ll fall foul of such legislation just as EA did with Star Wars BF2 (which I do enjoy playing, but never paid anything extra).
