You consent to PvE when you log into Eve.

So can I take it that all the complaints about PCU dropping because of PvP being forced on people is actually ass backwards?

It’s because of the PvE being forced on people and the lack of conflict.

That makes sense.Off topic, but seems legit.

Since Lowsec will have mineable moons, too, everything is fine in your limited world.

I do understand why WH shouldn´t have T2 Materials, but this way of harvesting Moon Goo is too nice to leave it only to Nullsec. Scanning a new hole and finding a timer when miners have to leave their structures… Absolutely great! I really enjoy just to think about, how to use this new mechanic.
Maybe we can have some additional new ores including only T1 Minerals and T3 Gases and only available in J-Space, while the new ores mentioned above are only available in Nullsec.

Most WH folks would be happy with being able to pull up ore and ice fields on a timed basis to be honest, leave tech II in losec/Null and tech III in WH space.

You’re writing it from the PoV of a trigger-happy PvP’er or an industry/mining character?
After the removal of exploration scanning, mining is the only meditative activity I enjoy.

There’s nothing broken about feature not being outside of Null and Low sec space, it was an intentional design decision that we are not changing at this time. I’m not sure I follow your logic here…

CCP won’t go this route. They want you to build an empire, not be a wandering vulture.
[/quote]One does not preclude not exclude another.
A moon may have a “base” component percentage that stays persistent plus a “bonus” composition that wanders in and out on some cycle. You can imagine it as “ore veins”. You hit the vein, the material distribution changes. You miss it, you get “base” materials.

I think the perception is that this change pushes moon mining more firmly into the grip of larger nullsec groups, a feature being nominally in losec as well isn’t the same as it being viable in losec. Note, I’m in WH so have no idea on the truth of this.

Meanwhile, any thought on a seismic charge module that blows chunks of ore off the crusticle in transit (i.e. outside refinery defence range) to replace the siphons. This would provide a mechanism for ninja miners to nibble away at these resources (as siphons did ) but at the expense of being visible in hostile space whilst doing so.

You can just ninja mine once the belt spawned, there’s no need for an additional mechanic.

Once it’s spawned the moon owner knows it’s there and will generally mine the hell out of it immediately. This mechanic would allow for true ninja mining where you can steal chunks of rock before the owner is aware.

I’m not disagreeing with that at all. I’m just saying that this feature being for Null and Low isnt broken, its what the feature was made for. Its like saying that we need to fix the lack of Concord in Nullsec, because that feature has been broken for years 😛

CCP Lebowski, what kind of force would one need to ninja mine. Solo expedition frigate? Mining Op with assault/defence fleet?

We’re not willing to commit to any plans or firm dates at this time. I hope you can see that this is to ensure we can deliver on what we promise.

As I said before, this feature in some form making it to highsec and wormhole space isn’t something we’re against, that’s all we’re happy to say at this time.

Thanks for the discussion though, appreciate the enthusiasm!

</div>

@CCP_Lebowski do you have any predictions about what these changes will mean for content other than Mining? Maybe I’m not seeing something, but it seems to me that due to the significant need of T2 mats there will be a significant need/incentive for people going into these belts, thus leaving significantly less time for other group activities, such as PVP.

- Edit: not trying to argue with the basic decision. It has been made and it seems that all of EVE apart from most Lowsec Groups like it, so be it. Just curious really if the danger of decreased PVP activity was taken into consideration or if it is an intentional effect even.

You mean the “true ninja” will avoid any kind of player interaction and mine the Moongooium after the owner invested probably billions in the infrastructure, scanned and set up the refinery. And the owner can do absolutly nothing about it.

There needs to be some kind of advantage on the side of the person/group putting in the effort. If you want the goo, contest the belt with something more than a cloaky mining frigate.

</div>

I mean a true ninja will enter hostile space and steal stuff whilst at risk of being spotted and engaged, having to wait until the belt is inside the refinery defence range means that the moon owner just needs an alt sat in control of the guns and goodbye non-ninja miner.

Ed: The refinery owner also has the advantage that the crusticle is floating through space that they are supposed to control. You don’t want more targets in your space?
