# Do Burst jammers prevent ships from targeting the person using it?

It breaks a person’s lock, but it doesn’t prevent them from locking you again. So if you’re trying to escape and warp off, you only have a small window of time.

It just breaks target lock, so before you use it, make sure you’re aligned, and have your finger over the warp button.

A lot of people find out to their detriment that it’s not a jam.
