thinking about the Eve Excel Addin. Just how complicated is it to get the character location in one formula. I may be missing something?

the best i could do was:

Assume the character name is on cell D4 (which can be found using the formula EVEONLINE.CHARACTER(A4) where cell A4 is the character ID), then the formula to find a character location is:

=EVEONLINE.STATION(SUM(IFERROR(EVEONLINE.ACTIVE\_CHARACTER().location\_station\_id,0) \* (EVEONLINE.ACTIVE\_CHARACTER().name=D4.name)))

which is pretty complicated?

Has anyone managed to get a simpler formula?

And it is weird. the range of methods that can be used on the EVEONLINE.ACTIVE\_CHARACTER() formula are different to the range of methods that can be used on the EVEONLINE.CHARACTER() formula. Thats what makes it all complicated. The EVEONLINE.CHARACTER() formula does not give the option to find the station location of the character.

I put this on my blog: [marketsforISK: Eve Excel Addin Formulas: Characters connected to the Addin and Character Location](https://marketsforisk.blogspot.com/2026/07/eve-excel-addin-formulas-characters.html)

and, as ever, the community comes up with a solution

=(EVEONLINE.STATION(EVEONLINE.CHARACTER(character\_id,TRUE).location\_station\_id))

Thank you.
That happened to be one of those initial entries I moved-on-from-to-come-back-later-too.

So of course I moved to a structure working out of Perimeter. So how to get an either or…? o?
