After all, though it is “just a game”, there’s a real person on the other side of the pixels on screen… I just cannot fathom the sort of heart that would take pleasure in pretending to be a murderous, ruthless, cold-blooded killer. Reminds me of when I thunderstormed Alliance players off of high places on my Orc shaman. They raged pretty hard, especially when they had to run back a long way after getting their corpse. le sigh this thread has degraded into one of the common offramps of reasonable discourse “Gankers are Bad” with all the pop psych 101 ‘if you play that way you probably torture puppies’ No, just no. Some folks bluff in poker, I do not automatically assume that they are pathalogical liars. I just try to take that into account when making my own wagers. This is a very old argument in the forums and I see the regulars already warming up so I give you a bit of very old advice > Never wrestle with a pig. You just get dirty and the pig enjoys it. play YOUR game but understand that others will play theirs and modify accordingly. m ---

Now that’s an interesting statement…“of lower experience”… Sure, there is “seal pup clubbing” in EvE, but new players are not the ones flying freighters and Hulks and Mackinaws…and in very many cases any of the ships ganked. Perhaps “of lower experience” really most often really means “of lower attentiveness”, “of lower preparation”, etc. Also - no matter how long a person has been in EvE, these people are _gamers_ not _babies_! Many, _many_ players who have played EvE for many years have been ganked by players who have not been in the game nearly as long at all (some even fit into the category ‘new player’ who \*gasp! aren’t necessarily victims) So much straw is falling out of your argument he can’t even be propped up. Everything you’ve said, I’ve said, and anybody else in this thread has said has been bandied about ad nauseam since EvE launched like some sort of whingy groundhog day of virtual spaceship game parliamentary lock-in session. There are many reasons people gank. IMO it is endlessly interesting to find how thin the veneer of civility so many of the self-professed “peaceful” miners “who just want to relax peacefully” actually so often is when their virtual pixels are rustled even slightly. Human behavior is fascinating.
