EVERYTHING I Learned from the CSM 18 Candidates

I wish there was a mission table where we train and fit an A.I. Fleet then send them out to run missions and return looted wrecks from the safety of the NPC station.

I asked all the CSM 18 Candidates these 6 unusual Questions

You did, good questions and they got some very good answers. I commend your efforts.

hehe, I would love to see CCP do this, like I double dare them. Like for real real.

If they had the balls to do this, even for just a year I would still commit to paying for a 2 year sub despite not playing the game for the duration of it. Just so we can all finally put that ridiculous belief to rest.

I love how this fanatical zeal of forcing out two thirds of the player base is going to financially save CCP and EVE online because of the sheer millions and millions of gamers out there champing at the bit for EVE to become a forced pvp game.

It’s exactly this mentality that keeps me logging in, avoiding all risk, and blissfully care-bearing. Thx

@Erebus_TheChin_Sundance Hi!

Thanks for saying, it’s been a trip.

I’d like to hear your answer if you’ll be kind enough to share them.

  1. What has CCP gotten right?
  2. What has CCP gotten wrong?
  3. What do you wish existed in-game that doesn’t?
  4. What exists in-game that you wish didn’t?
  5. What exists in-game that you think ought to continue to exist?
  6. What doesn’t exist in-game that you hope never comes into existence?
  7. How would you improve PI?
  8. How would you improve the entire corporation UI?

I asked the CSM 18 Candidates these 8 Questions

  1. What has CCP got correct?
  2. What has CCP got incorrect?

About the question set:

Questions 1 and 2 are priming questions designed to set a frame and get candidates thinking about CCP’s performance.

Question 3-6 are a special type of question that force your brain to do some critical mental gymnastics they’re a linguistic device used in reframing and problem solving. Essentially they ask for an example of:

  1. A false positive
  2. A false negative
  3. A true positive
  4. A true negative

In more elaborative terms:

  1. There was a problem and CCP did not identify that problem
  2. There was not a problem and CCP identified there was a problem
  3. There was a problem and CCP identified that problem
  4. There was not a problem and CCP did not identify a problem

You might find questions like these easier to answer in context. For example how is this true of capital ship balance, Ansiblexes and Force Projection, and or Market Fees and Taxes.

I’ve asked using the term wish which I’m using a synonym for want or need.

i.e. There was a NEED and CCP did not identify that NEED.

The last two questions are relevant to the Photon UI and I just wanted to know what the candidates thoughts were. These questions were for me.

                             **OMG THE ANSWERS**
  1. What has CCP got correct?

@Torvald_Uruz

This question is definitely a struggle, because there are issues they struggle with even when they’re doing right. Overall, they do seem to listen to us somewhat. When we have issues, whether it’s CSM or the entire community bringing it up, they do listen and act on it. For example, the P2W crap they tried recently. We immediately went into an uproar and they took it out. Another example, FW. They did the big release and continued to iterate on it after receiving feedback.

@Stitch_Kaneland

Not going to name everything, but a few stand-outs are changing cyno’s to recons only and more recently the Uprising/Veridian expansions. FW was a good improvement, I won’t say its perfect but it’s good that CCP finally addressed the old FW system.

@Nala_Queen

In my opinion, CCP is doing the right thing by continuing to work on improving the gaming experience, and the visuals of the game also play a major role!

@RGC_Godfather

I believe CCP has done a lot of good over the years but thats all trial and error. They keep adding to the game in an effort to bring new life and that shows they really care about the game.

@DutchGunner

Continue to itterate on the game and keep it as balanced as possible while using data in addition to listening to and using feedback from the community.

@Grima_The_Mad

CCP has at times been very good about listening to the player base, and properly responded to concerns raised by us. The recent “golden ammo” thing is a good example of CCP listening to player feedback. As was the creation of the CSM.

@Kilyavi_Alaailaa

They regularly add changes to EVE, work with the community, collect feedback, make EVE “live and active” for a long time, experiment (Dust 514, Valkyrie)

@Kshal_Aideron

Focusing on the new player experience. By engaging new players and teaching them how to do basic things, we’re setting them up for a better future in New Eden.

@Angry_Mustache

These questions are way too broad and not really answerable in anything besides the most general, meaningless terms.

- To be fair Angry Mustache was my first pick on my ballot last year and probably will be again this year. Having said that this was his entire answer to all 8 questions. His characterisation of the questions as meaningless cracks me up every time I read it. Angry Mustache is an example of a facts based thinker.

@Gideon_Zendikar

Distribution of minerals across space, creating bottlenecks that the market adjusts to. Muninn Change

D_ceet

For good or bad, not being afraid to try new things. From Pochven, or twitch interaction so we can bet on the Alliance Tournament. There’s plenty of interesting things always happening.

Melicien_Tetro

Keep this game running for 20 years, looking like another 20 more

Drake_Iddon

Their commitment to non-intervention outside of actual cheating and limited edge cases is a huge boon to eve, on a fundamental level it is what allows EVE to stand apart from any other sandbox game, its why the universe has such a rich and diverse history

Dark_Shines

I think CCP’s dedication to Eve is their biggest gold star. They make mistakes along the way, but the enthusiasm and excitement you can see from CCP employees is always very telling.

Talking to players. Not just the CSM mind you although that is part of it, roundtables at Fanfests, surveys (such as they are), talking to player experts who were NOT elected when need be, and hiring from the player base. All of these make for strong lines of communication between CCP and the players.

Yondu_Quill

not rejecting new content in paid product

Velonad_Tyldamere

They still try to change and reinvent new eden with expansions. Keeping the game evolving is vital for it’s health

The_Oz

They recognize that player driven events, politics, and content are what makes EVE stand out and they leverage it accordingly in their marketing.

Larkness

CSM changes to the current election process (adding the two additional randomly appointed who fall outside the top 10, finally gives a chance to get more broader representation hopefully).

Dujek_Oneye

A good framework for flying spaceships with friends and an economy based around that. I obviously enjoy most things about EVE.

  1. What has CCP got incorrect?

Torvald Uruz

They can seem very disconnected from their playerbase. They chase crap that we didn’t ask for or don’t want, but they seem to think they know what’s best. A big example of this, the entire customization of citadels the paragon/dailies. Aesthetics/customization is the easiest thing in the world to monetize, and they decided to go the complete wrong way with it and basically make it this entire system that we didn’t ask for. For now this is only on structures, but they showcased a ton of stuff at Fanfest 2022 (heraldry), which is an easy monetization item that they passed up completely on to justify this paragon/evermark crap.

Another huge issue with CCP, timelines and tunnel visioning. They made scarcity last for so long and that’s really the only thing they focused on during that entire time period. They have a horrible habit of taking way too long to do stuff, and putting everything else on the backburner while they work. They have all of these development teams yet they seem to focus them all on one task. For example, right now they’re working on these grand narrative story arcs.

Stitch Kaneland

This is a much larger list, but I don’t feel like typing all day, so i’ll add some bullet points

  • Up until recently (and even still maybe), CCP has an absolutely glacial pace in regards to iteration on problem areas. This could be ship balance, ecosystem, QoL etc. It feels like we’re destined to suffer through terrible changes for years until someone wakes up and tweaks some numbers.
  • Nullification change was terrible and really not needed, especially in how it was implemented. It nerfed actual tackle ships and for some inexplicable reason, made DST’s near immune to any kind of interdiction.
  • CCP’s left arm doesn’t seem to know what its right arm is doing. Hence why we repeatedly get issues where CCP’s marketing department releases special boosters as part of a booster pack that provide in game benefits for real money (aka gold ammo) without the other departments seemingly realizing this. CCP nukes all their community goodwill, CCP’s departments acknowledge each other, realize this was a mistake and pull it. This has happened several times now
  • CCP’s refusal to admit when something is wrong/bad for the game, but are too stubborn/prideful to admit it. So instead of changing it in a reasonable time frame, we have to wait years (typically with management changes) to finally get the bad/broken thing addressed properly. Currently, this is scarcity, or the remnants of it (why are T1 BS almost 400m?!)

Nala Queen

They change a lot of things at once, which makes some players overwhelmed by these changes!

RGC Godfather

skill injectors

Dutch Gunner

I don’t think CCP does things incorrectly. They might not execute things ideally, but that doesn’t mean they do things incorrectly.

Grima the Mad

I feel that at times CCP can be blinded by a potential avenue to make more money. This can be seen in things like the initial wave of “luxury cosmetics” for our characters that came around with Incarna. Direct sale of SP doesn’t quite sit well with me, but that’s neither here nor there in the grand scheme of things.

Kilyavi Alaailaa

Unobvious or uninteresting aspects of the game lie on the shelves for a long time without changes.
Strange and obscure changes come out periodically without explanation.

Kshal Aideron

Starting things and either not tying up loose ends or… SQUIRREL and we’re off to something else. The NPE is a really good example of this. After adding mining to the NPE and tidying up the career missions, we were supposed to get an exploration tutorial. No idea if this is even still part of CCP’s plans. So I guess we can also throw communication in here.

Gideon Zendicar

Isk generation should scale with risk/reward - High sec abysaals currently break this concept and Null is severly underpresented here, Ansiblexes. T1 ship balance (esp. T1 dreads, carriers and t1 Battleships), monetisation

D’ceet

Gotta say that it’s primarily developer/playerbase interaction. They’re getting much better at it than before, however. But it is something I would like to see expanded.

Medicine Tetro

Pandering too much to null blocks and multiboxers instead of new and potential users.

Drake Idon

CCP’s communication, both to players and within its own company is disgustingly poor, we see the end result time and time again where CCP puts its foot in its mouth and fucks something up on something so fundamental, we saw this in the evermarks system, the ship sales, and more recently the widom of gheinok booster that was sold for real money

Dark Shines

Some of there, what i’m assuming are, management decisions about game direction and development have been absolutely atrocious and the messaging around it tone deaf. Scarcity being one of the biggest ones.

From the outside looking in it appears to be a lack of knowledge on the actual in game reality, something I would hope to be able to help with if elected.

Pandoralica

They sometimes waste good opportunities

Gustav Manfred

Failed to communicate certain things, like the thing with the arena or the exact reasons why the old arena was removed

Phantomite

The company occasionally encroaches upon the sandbox with extremely poisonous monetisation schemes, I hope they always see reason and cancel like they did recently.

Mike Azariah

Well the blithe answer would be ‘not always listening to the players’ in spite of my answer to number 1. But I think it goes deeper than that and is an internal problem of growth and age . . . I think CCP at times does not communicate internally enough so those who do ‘know’ cannot warn marketing when they have some ‘great new idea’ to generate revenue.

Yondu Quill

Not rejecting new content in paid product and delivery of above

Velonad Tyldamere

Trying to shill gold items/in-game advantages for PLEX/money
Microtransactions for direct in-game benefits is something I will push hard against.

The Oz

Frequent reckless marketing / monetization campaigns are threatening the in-game economy and testing and crossing player loyalty limits.

Larkness

To many Skillpoint bonus pack offers.

Dujek Oneye

Any way of limiting or regulating the number of “special” things. Titans, sov, people in a coalition, anything that stops you from making everyone blue, or groups from monopolizing certain areas of the game. That isn’t to say I wish to make titans 1/alliance or whatnot, but there are things that might warrant a more even distribution, that holding corps make impossible to limit.

  1. What do you wish existed in-game that doesn’t?

Torvald Uruz

  • Honestly, a ton of out of game tools. It’s annoying that we have to use Dotlan because the in game map isn’t as functional. Also, Pyfa. These are all great tools that we should have access to in game rather than relying on the awesome player developers to do CCP’s job.
  • Another thing that comes to mind, I want more dynamic PvE. The abyss is awesome but it’s problem is that it’s instanced content that is done in high-sec. I want to have stuff like the abyss outside in the universe. All other PvE in the game bores me, so I stick to abyssals because it’s challenging and dynamic. CCP needs to add fun PvE type content outside of the Abyss.
  • One of my huge wish list items is the ranking system in FW. I’m a huge advocate of progression systems, and I love FW, so I’d love to see the ranking system actually be used. This could be a great way to give players in FW something to work towards, while also rewarding players for hitting milestones and achievements in FW.
  • Also, this is maybe a strange one, but I’d love to see chat channels in Eve with the ability to display roles. Much like Discord, I’d like to see different people in chat channels names show up as different colors to identify them based off of roles in that group (corp/alliance/public community player ran channels).

Stitch Kaneland

Objectives, content drivers, reasons to fight people at larger scales. People only fight out of necessity, instead of for fun or to take something they find useful. It’s why the entirety of null has become stagnant with essentially 3 groups controlling all of it, but not doing anything.

I also have multiple ships i’d like to see implemented depending on the meta and need that fill certain roles that don’t currently exist. Super Heavy interdictor, T2 Attack BC, Utility Battleships etc

Nala Queen

As already suggested by Elinore en Divalone, a processing of corpses would be a useful addition, also that there may be a small chance (5%-10%) to recover implants from the processed corpses.

RGC Godfather

T2 variants of T1 battleships that dont get enough love (ie Maelstrom, Rokh)

Dutch Gunner

As per my original post, a shield equivalent of the Nestor but it’s part of the EDENCOM ship line.

Grima the Mad

Exploration missions, I think it would be fascinating to have missions geared specifically towards those of us who thoroughly enjoy the exploration game play loop. Exploration missions could be things like searching for lost ships, recovering this, that or the other thing.

Kilyavi Alaailaa

I find it difficult to answer. Perhaps boarding ships in battle

Kshal Aideron

The ability to schedule fleets ahead of time on the fleet finder. One of the largest problems with getting new players connected to fleet activity is visibility to groups actually putting on the fleets.

Runner up to this is a better way to X-UP for fleets. I’m actually having to have waitlist software programmed to help Eve Rookies manage our fleets because there’s no infrastructure within the game to help our FCs schedule and manage the actual fleet

Gideon Zendicar

Strategic topology that is not easily broken constantly by Filaments/Ansis or conduit that creates chokepoints.

D’ceet

Medicine Tetro

Xordazh as a player ship

Drake Idon

Allowing 50kMN and 10kMN prop modules on battleships
Also holograms, skins, more customisation as a whole

Dark Shines

I would love to see a massive expansion on Capitals and to raise the overall ceiling on ships. Wether it’s T2 Titans, or some new mega titan, or non-combat capitals that could perform another task that doesn’t instantly make the biggest groups OP.

I love the idea of a new class that would siege on a wormhole and “doomsday” it, transferring massive amounts of energy into it to stabalise the Mass.

Oh so many cool ideas that players have come up with. Temporary structures for footholds or player equivalent of a FOB. ‘Scan spoofers’ that would make a Titan look like a Frigate on scan and vice versa. But if you want one answer? A few more sci fi dream possibilities . . . players come into the game wanting to be a Wily Smuggler or a Bounty Hunter and we do not really have the mechanics for those professions in game.

Yondu Quill

big dynamic events that have real impact on eden.

Velonad Tyldamere

Covert dictors?! I joke tho, since that would be insanely OP.
I guess a legitimate use for surgical warp probes or similar items that have no real purpose right now.

The Oz

Meaningful wars for strategic objectives such as access to resources.

Larkness

Mobile constellation level blackout inhibitors.

Dujek Oneye

Mercenary or bounty hunter framework would be really cool, but probably framework to meaningfully interact and work together with strangers temporarily, especially for new players.

  1. What exists in-game that you wish didn’t?

Torvald Uruz

Hypernet comes to mind. We had it good with Somerblink and IWantIsk, but CCP ruined those to create an in game model so they could make money off of it.

Another quick thing that comes to mind is dailies. These dailies for paragon are ridiculous. They focus way too much on Abyssal content when we have an entire universe full of stuff that could be used for daily tasks. Also, I don’t want so many damn evermarks!!

I don’t know if this counts, but CCP selling skill point packs. There is an entire system of extractors and skill injectors, and CCP selling SP directly in my opinion is wrong.

Also, local as intel. I don’t agree with blackout, but I do think that having an instant intel tool is not such a great idea. I’d like to see something like a local delay, maybe a minute delay before someone pops up in local. It’s a crap feeling when you get to a system and everyone is already docked up, or starbursts the second you appear in local. Give the skilled hunters a chance to catch someone!

Stitch Kaneland

Most forms of long range projection without limitations

Nala Queen

So far there is nothing I would not have wished for.

RGC Godfather

Ganking and the overall bullying of industrial and newer members

Dutch Gunner

I am not a fan of the skill injectors. Progression into other ships have improved massively since the start of EVE. Skill injectors have created the option to progress that much quicker at the expense of mastery of ships, playstyles and mechanics. This leads to much more dissatisfaction as people get into ships and content that much earlier and get beaten by others that have less skillpoints but a better understanding and mastery of ships and mechanics.

Grima the Mad

There aren’t many things that I feel shouldn’t exist in game. I have feelings about hyper nodes, but I feel like it’s a part of the game that provides entertainment for some people. I’m not fond of the idea of taking something away from people who enjoy it on my own personal feelings about gambling. It is an interesting tool which I could see being used in positive ways.

Kshal Aideron

The in game ads pointed directly at new players. As a marketing professional, I fully understand the need to monetize the game. However, I think the timing is wrong and counter productive. For example, one of the offers I’ve seen is omega at a stellar 1st month price. A newbro gets it then doesn’t know what to do with it and feels like they wasted money. Pretty counter productive in my personal opinion.

Gideon Zendicar

Free targeted projection in the form of fatigueless Ansis

D’ceet

Jokingly, multi hour jump fatigue, but I am just a capital pilot who remembers you could travel the universe as fast as your capacitor could take you.

On a serious note it would probably be that the amarr/caldari connection system is now in Pochven and it takes 30+ jumps to get to Amarr, or a spicy jump into Ahbazon. but EVE is ever evolving and I can only shake my fist at the clouds but so often.

Medicine Tetro

Slavery Roleplay, Hisec Ganking, Multiboxing

Drake Idon

I don’t think the shuttle should have interdiction nullification, it allows for perfect information without any investment and has massively reduced demand for the fleet interceptors (except the malediction because its absolutely cracked) Give permanent interdiction nullification back to the fleet interceptors if they give the nullifier module.

Dark Shines

Citadel damage caps in it’s current iteration. It’s brutally boring to grind undefended citadels, and likewise very stupid to reward absentee guardianship of citadels by wasting everyones time.

I’d like to see damage caps for example doubled, but also allow citadels to be actively repaired to maybe half of that new cap, to allow a counter to slow down the reinforce rate.

This is just an example that would obviously need a lot of tweaking.

  1. What exists in-game that you think ought to continue to exist?

Torvald Uruz

Player-Driven content. Market, PvP, empires, ganking, mining, wormholes, missions, all of it. Other than what I mentioned in question 4, I think the game should continue as is!

Stitch Kaneland

Gankers

Nala Queen

Missions, also in “0.0” where I live, and to that effect also the chance of valuable implants and ships, which you can “buy” in the loyalty shop with the points coming from the missions.

RGC Godfather

Dutch Gunner

Attributes and remaps. Optimizing the attributes and remapping them really helps with learning skills that much quicker. It is an underestimated and under utilized aspect of the game that will save players days to weeks in time. It could use with a reduction of the cooldown between remaps to help making it used more often.

Grima the Mad

E-War, one of my favorite systems in the game is doing something that keeps others from doing harm or interfering with whatever it is that I’m doing. I don’t think that there is a huge push for its removal, but I think it’s in a relatively good place, and it adds interesting game play.

Kshal Aideron

Two extremely poker hot subjects are needlejack filaments and skill injectors. Needlejack filaments help players get out into null to places they might not have thought to go to in the first place. it isn’t only NPSI groups or small gangs using them. Explorers use them as well and it helps them get undocked and into the “more dangerous” area of the game. Personally, on my newbro roams it easily saves me 30 minutes of flying through nothing and losing player’s interest.

The other thing is the skill injectors. Eve Rookies exists because of LSI. I was able to get the skills I needed to play the booster and FC the incursion fleets. The alternative would have been to buy a character with the skill, but I wanted to play on Kshal. Not some character I didn’t make.

Gideon Zendicar

Industry Bottlenecks that require input from various areas of space to build advanced hulls to prevent one region of Eve from dominating all others.

D’ceet

The continued advancement of T2 capitals. Let’s make carriers worth a damn again.

Medicine Tetro

POCHVEN

Drake Idon

Ganking, there are few candidates and alot of youtubers that decry ganking and are trying as hard as they can from getting it removed from the game, all they need to do is look at eve echoes to see what an awful idea that is, granting immunity from player intervention in hisec would absolutely cripple the economy in many areas

Dark Shines

  1. What doesn’t exist in-game that you hope never comes into existence?

Torvald Uruz

Pay-2-win!!! No one should ever be able to swipe their credit card and get an advantage that can only be gotten from real world money. No golden ammo, no cash shop only boosters.

Stitch Kaneland

Gold ammo

Nala Queen

Above all, there should NEVER be T2 Titans, because then hardly any player would be given the chance to survive a fight, should one be led into the field.

Dutch Gunner

Any form of pay to win. And with pay to win I mean anything that gives you an advantage in the game over anyone else that doesn’t pay for the same.

Grima the Mad

At the risk of sounding like a parrot to what I’m sure many of the others you’ve copy/pasted this question to, mechanics which equate to pay money for a direct advantage, pay-to-win. I’m not talking about SP extractors and injectors, I personally feel that these are akin to catch-up tools that other games have. I’m mixed on the direct sale of SP, but it is a thing now and I don’t feel that’s a hill worth even fighting on.

Kilyavi Alaailaa

Lootboxes

Kshal Aideron

Golden Ammo and other pay to win elements. No, I don’t think LSI are pay to win. They’ll never teach a player situational awareness, solo pvp or how to fly in a fleet. Those you only learn by doing. However, anything that you can buy and use to trump situational awareness and actual player skill is a no go for me.

Gideon Zendicar

  • Candidates may have jobs and real life responsibilities.

  • I’m a nobody and it’s reasonable to decide not to answer my meaningless questions.

Having said that!!! These are the people that have chosen to represent us, now let’s burn them to the ground like the sacrificial lambs they are.

TLDR: Your telling the guy who read all the answer multiple times, responded to them in threads, and then posted them here. I don’t care if you didn’t read it or you think that nobody else will read it.

Walking in Stations. I can understand that cost and resource requirements for this would have been pretty considerable though I also think it would have been cool to have something to do outside the space ship spinning when you are over the flying about. I know of people that would have played Eve alone (or continued to play) for this sort of content and I think it also gives players more connection to their character and motivation to progress apart from just more isk and a better ship. Plus it opens up more potential revenue streams with cosmetic add ons.

@Cael_Caderu

A reward item that lands at the end of a nullsec anomaly, ideally in a predictable place close to the warpin of the site. Call it “green loot” and make it delivered to NPC buy orders in specific NPC null. e.g. Serpentis rats would need to be ransomed to Serpentis NPC space. This is an opportunity to raise the value of null anoms while giving ratters some tough choices about when to cut and run vs when to stick around and hope the hunters are slow or looking for something else. It would also create a new content-driving gameplay style of roaming through hostile space and finishing other people’s sites. Delivery to NPC null is to avoid the cheese of the Pochven highway and make people actually ship their goods through space.

Capital route planning systems. I know that there is dotlan. And there you can calculate everything. But every time you minimize the game window to open third-party resources. Lost magic dive. =)

@Twan_Molenaar

Navy and Pirate Logistical Vessels,

@Rots_Mijnwerker

This is a tough one for me - i think i would love to see faction warfare enrollment into the pirate factions i truly do enjoy the lore and could see myself getting into it. I’d love the idea of pirate factions capturing and repurposing empire ships and having ship hulls like this. Like a Providence freighter being stolen and refit by the blood raiders with turret hardpoints? Why not?

@MILINT_ARC_Trooper

[Careful Inhalation]

  • Navy Carriers [and Navy/Pirate Fighters and by virtue Pirate Drones too]

  • Navy Titans [It has to be done…since we are expanding other capitols]

  • Triglavian “Clade Ships” [their Triglavian “Navy” variants.] Perun/Veles/Svarborg clade variants.

  • Unlocking the Razhnborg and Abyssal Missile weapons for capsuleers to play with. As well as other Triglavian weapon and mobile battlefield modification systems.

  • Triglavian Haulers [The Hauling Community is BAYIING TO THE ROOF ON THIS.] (Already in the Game)

  • Expansion of all the Pirate Factions to mirror Empire tech trees.

  • Daredevil needs to be swapped to a Capsuleer Angel Cartel ship. Serpentis needs to have a unique Serpentis “V” class frigate [points to any one of the Gallente T1 Frigates Pirate Tristan anyone or Atron or unique hull type?] Daredevil was originally called the Devourer for the Angel Cartel.

  • I know we are filling in the hole with the Minmatar Caldari faction. [Ironically in lore SOE follows this doctrine.] But I think another pirate faction needs to be given its moment in the sun, The EOM [End of Man} faction with its crazy Amarr ships with Hybrid Weapons and Shield Preferences.

  • Corpse Launchers, for funny things.

  • Unique modules that increase specialization and ship personalization using the sandbox to creatively make unique hulls and content concept

  • Expansion of T3 ships and technology choices.

  • Espionage and Interaction Hacking games to allow more back and forth conflict with stations and other infrastructure in nullsec, pochven, or wormhole space.

  • Non-Station requirement corporate/ doctrine fit based personalization in game. With also solo players getting the ability to use personalizations to roleplay as their faction of choice.

  • Players should have the capability to join various NPC corps of their own free will.

As I said before there is alot potential in the game. I feel many times there isn’t a full pushing the limit of what we can do in this game. There is so so much more yet to be played with.

@Corporal_Fillip

more things to find, even if temporary

@Amelia_Duskspace

There are many things I wish existed in game that don’t

I wish there were more content objectives for roaming gangs like there used to be with station services. These type of objectives give more reason for groups to go around and do stuff to get fights. Right now it’s very hard to force people to undock, which is bad for the game.

I wish there were more means for groups to be able to fight against n+1, whether it be some stacking debuffs or something similar as seen in Albion Online.

Jokingly, multi hour jump fatigue, but I am just a capital pilot who remembers you could travel the universe as fast as your capacitor could take you.

On a serious note it would probably be that the amarr/caldari connection system is now in Pochven and it takes 30+ jumps to get to Amarr, or a spicy jump into Ahbazon. but EVE is ever evolving and I can only shake my fist at the clouds but so often.

I don’t think the shuttle should have interdiction nullification, it allows for perfect information without any investment and has massively reduced demand for the fleet interceptors (except the malediction because its absolutely cracked) Give permanent interdiction nullification back to the fleet interceptors if they give the nullifier module.

I’d like to see damage caps for example doubled, but also allow citadels to be actively repaired to maybe half of that new cap, to allow a counter to slow down the reinforce rate.

This is just an example that would obviously need a lot of tweaking.

Not advocating for the abolition of this though at this time I would need to think about it and discuss it with people a lot more, if this is something people want. Just because I find something frustrating does not immediately mean it’s a bad thing.
Alcoholic Satan

Honestly, there’s nothing I wish didn’t really exist. I’m sure some people might say things like sov warfare, but what do you replace it with, going back to endless structure grinding because he who drops the most citadels in a system now owns it? No thanks.

Sol Weintroub

It’s a sandbox and all activities, that give people entertainment, should exist.

Lady Death Strike

Good question, I am glad you asked. Filiment, they make travel to easy. I need to go to jita poof I’m in poch, use another I’m some where by jita, making it so I avoided a bunch of areas of eve. The aniplex gates in null is another one. Those need to go as well. More over I feel the mwd then cloak, uncloak warp off needs to be changed. We need a game of content. Those ships shouldn’t be able to do that trick. Only a small number like 10 or less should be able to pull off such feats. Fix the mobile observatory as well, don’t let the cloakie camper recloak, make him become content. Do this by having him get a recloaking delay timer after being decloaked by a mobile observatory. The thing can lock on to cloaking frequency and prevent it from recloaking for like 5 minutes.

Dario Kaelenter

Toxicity. I guess it comes with people and their insecurities. There are aspects of the game that can exacerbate that… I’ve often wondered why Eve has no in game chat filtering like Forums does. Some words best left out of the game and maybe being advised to consider why you want to say that may give players a moments to calm down and think again.

Storm Delay

Citadel fittings. Generally, they are disincentives to fights and you can’t do anything about them as an attacker. I’m talking about reducing capital escalations (tether, XL neuts), increasing the tedium (plates).

William Chen

while I do wish for many things to not exist in-game what I wish for would make no impact on what is already there, just to name a couple “SP in packs” or “straight-up SP for sale”.

Cael Caderu

Pochven is reasonably cool, but I really wish that the Pochven highway didn’t exist. Being able to ship from the deepest null to highsec in 15 minutes flat, completely bypassing all the intervening geography, is not good for the game IMO. Removing the highway would revitalize the borders between null and empire space by increasing the amount of traffic flowing through those systems.

I’ve also already mentioned Supply Depots/Caches, I believe, which also falls under this category.

Arhont Sibirski

This is probably more related to the second question. But I will continue here. Newly introduced lance dreadnoughts should stop working in lowsec sectors. The mechanics are not just dishonest, they generate too much drama. Doomsday weapons that work in area should not work in lowsec - that was the golden rule. Lowsec was exactly this place where the titans and their weapons did not pose a threat to inexperienced or poor players. I remember those stories of how the goonsworm titans destroyed entire fleets that flew over their territory. For zeros, this is acceptable. Bubbles, bazon, lance. But in lowsec it seems to be broken. In fact, lance dreadnoughts, instead of changing capital battles, change the desire to play for beginners and the poor who have just entered lowsec.

Ansiblex Jump Bridges - bar stop

MILINT ARC Trooper

I will say this thing, how does it make sense that one can track a player with 3rd Party tech which can not be detected or defended against. Yet, the locator agents in this game are criminally underused for their job, [Probably need to be moved to the Agency for more direct interaction and allowing players to find targets or general activity zones.] Ways for players to use third party systems to track players or get information on a player should not be allowed. I remember one time being contacted by a player in lowsec…hey you are on intel channels. I am like, I just randomly popped a filament from lowsec to nullsec and they knew where I was. No one was in local as well, so I was like that isn’t good for the game.

Corporal Fillip

FW affects high-sec a lot

Amelia Duskspace

I think Ansiblex are one of largest issues in the game right now. They force high centralization of groups which leads to large amounts of completely empty dead space. While I think there needs to be incentives to owning and upgrading your space, it shouldnt allow you to own and defend 6 regions so easily from 1 centralized location.

  1. What exists in-game that you think ought to continue to exist?

Torvald Uruz

This one is a lot harder to answer, because it constitutes most of the game, wormholes, nullsec, lowsec, high sec, pochven, etc should all continue to exist.

Alcoholic Satan

Group PVE activities like that of Pochven where you’re regularly contesting money making sites with other players.

Dario Kaelenter

The supportive community. There are many players that are very willing to help with advice, isk, resources and providing opportunities and more positive environments for others to spend their Eve time in. Coming together to also help with Real World issues and make a positive difference in the world. I have never really seen that to an extent in any gaming community as much as we see in the Eve Online community and I hope that continues.

Storm Delay

I’m not sure how to answer that, most things that exist ought to continue doing so.

Kontan Rekor

This is a weird question, as there’s lots that I think should continue to exist. Maybe the easiest answer for me is Pochven. I would like for regions like Pochven to have a place in EVE, even if the current state of the region is not ideal.

Gabriel Bemenacth

Pochven (Praise)

Dhuras

That is so broad I can’t answer that without pages and pages.

William Chen

Keep the filament, that was a great implement for sure, For roaming and content it’s great, but I do like to see it changed a bit, where you can’t use a filament again in the same constellation or something like that to filter out some of “filament-> cloak and stays there” it should be a content generator.

Cael Caderu

Far too much here to name it all, so just a few highlights: I really enjoy the scanning and hacking minigames. I would be sad to see those removed or reworked. I love MJD tactical gameplay such as spearfishing. I can see arguments that right now it is perhaps a little too easy for large ships to slip through gatecamps using MWD+cloak or MJD+cloak, but I would push to not nerf this behavior because campers can and do sometimes catch the ships. So content happens because a cloak+MWD battleship can have enough of a chance to take the risk, but not have a guaranteed escape.

Arhont Sibirski

Unique systems like Turnnur, Tera, and all drifter wormholes. They greatly increase the dynamics of flights. without them, the game would be boring.

Twan Molengar

Its kind off gone but i wish that the original abyss Proving grounds would be returned as a lot of people seemed to enjoy them.

  • Hidden Resources. During the early days of Scarcity, it was actually kind of fun to scan down data/relic sites all over EVE Online to get resources. Even looking around missions and combat sites for some oddball goodies. Although CCP did go a bit nuclear on that, you can still find stuff here or there if you know where to look. It was kind of funny to see the shock of explorers seeing mining ships on grid. It was an interesting time to be a mining scout in that area, then CCP shut down that emergent content.
  • Hidden Loot. If you are careful and poking around (IE shoot everything.) You might find structures holding bits and pieces of interesting loot. Including Implants. The strange windfall of an overlooked structure or building in a site. And there is talk that some unique ships can access some particular items and interact with them. It has been a long term “secret” that CCP hasn’t elaborated on. And I believe any knee jerk efforts to “fix things” will have disastrously destructive effects on the lore and story, and hidden secrets of EVE that many have yet to discover.
  • Meme/ Lore/Empire/Special Edition resources. There are some unique ores in this game that you can actually harvest like Flawed Gniess and Fools Crokite. Sadly you don’t find this stuff very often in game in missions, but its a funny item to mine. Sadly it can’t be sold on the market or compressed. Also much of the Mining Mission Lore ore can’t be used for anything else and can’t be sold on market. Maybe it could be changed so you can sell it to someone who has interest in it? Empire Ores are usually tied to the old Resource Wars mining sites, sadly it can’t be used outside of the mining sites [erased out of your hold.] Special Edition ores however, are one of the weirder items in the game. Several years ago I was able during Crimson Harvest to Mine Cthoric Attar…which is a special ore that then can be refined for a special resource required for unique modules in this game. Sadly CCP seems to like to make this stuff disappear from interactions from time to time, which makes it a bit frustrating to build same said modules. {Although one particular Mining Mission item…that attracts rogue drones has my attention…too bad we can’t use for such “operations”]
  • Historical Sites in EVE Online. I know many of the old Cosmos Sites and the various fixed DEDs are still around, but I think they need updates and probably need some massive rejuvenation efforts. Recently I took another CSM hopeful on a guided tour of a site I have in my home base. This unique site is one of a kind in New Eden. And sadly I wish there were more in the game. It is a historical marker for an era of interactive gameplay that seems to have been buried in the past. The other CSM member was floored and intrigued by the site. It even drops special lore bits that have references to various locations throughtout EVE. Sadly, this site is the only one of its kind in existance. Too bad newbros can’t have such a resource or concept at their fingertips that would drive their curiousity in EVE online.

I hope that pay to win does not takes full effect and it’s just pay for the best gear and ships with real money. Experencing the whole game is important. Not just the pvp.

Dario Kaelenter

A singular focus on one aspect in the game such as PVP only. Not everyone comes to Eve to just shoot other stuff. Many come for a more relaxed environment to chill with friends and have a bit of fun. That could be small gang PVP tho also Mining, Industry or PVE content where they aren’t under pressure to match their physical abilities against other player as much. I think that’s also why Eve online appeals to more mature players as they don’t need to have those youthful quick reaction times or l33t coordination skills to succeed and enjoy the game.

Kontan Rekor

The cop-out answer is more blatant Pay-to-win mechanics, but I will also add that more instanced PvE like ESS reserve key sites and abyssals should probably not be expanded upon.

Cael Caderu

Again, so much I could mention here. I certainly don’t want to see pay to win mechanics in EVE. Something that came up in discussion recently that I don’t want to see is a navy links destroyer. Part of the flexibility of FW NVY plexes comes from the inability to bring any kind of links into them. Basically, “kitchen sink” fleets aren’t as bad when better options can’t enter the plex, and blocking dedicated support ships like links helps with that. I love a good organized fleet but I also appreciate having places where a pickup fleet can really compete and I’d be sad to lose it.

Arhont Sibirski

PVP or PVE rating systems. As soon as this appears, I think Eva can no longer be saved. We already have one resource zkillbord which makes some pilots afraid to “spoil their reputation”. If the system is introduced, I’m afraid it will be another reason to shy away from risky fights.

I know everyone was screeching about “gold ammo” booster…but they don’t know the horrors of actual “gold ammo” where every shot of the highest grade ammunition [World of Tanks] You might have given Marketing Team the perfect idea. You do not want to end up with T2 ammo with a Plex per 1000 units purchase value. The booster was relatively tame, compared to the concept EVE players were scarecrowing about. Considering for years there was a booster that still exists that gives newbros for 34 days a 20% damage/rate of fire bonus. And stacks on other cerebral acclerators for training or further enhancing the combat power of same said ships. That is my concern, is if CCP starts Plex charging for fuel, ammo usage. That will be the end of EVE.

That’s a problem.
A Want is not a Need, and you run the risk of misinterpretation - or worse, giving your subject plausible deniability on what their statement meant.

You should have just chosen “need” or “want” for less ambiguity.

Still, this aside - decent work.

–Appreciative Gadget

When in trance be specific when awake be vague and ambiguous.

Apart from that I think it’s important to recognise that these people are not my subjects.

The purpose was that the candidates interpreted the questions in a way that was meaningful to them.

If I chose to use the word ‘need’, then I’m asking them to make suggestions that imply a required change to the game is necessary, I didn’t want to do that.

If I chose to use the word ‘want’ I’m risking receiving a laundry list of in game features, the word ‘wish’ and later the word ‘hope’ implies a more imaginative inquiry. That’s about the level of pressure that I wanted to exert. The reason that I gave the explanation that you’ve pointed out is because many people are fact based thinkers and they struggle with what they perceive to be ambiguous terms, so I thought to provide some information that might add some clarity and interest for those readers.

I’ll add to that that my purpose was not to hold the candidates ‘accountable’ I’m not the CSM police. So if someone decided that they wanted to deny what they’ve said then that’s ok with me. I would restate the point that we’re talking about their wishes and hopes, that would not really seem like it would produce answers that a candidate would be desperate to reneg on.

Thanks for the feedback, I certainly appreciate that you’ve taken the work seriously. Further that you’ve made an effort to leave a compliment.

Your both Topic has been merged in here.

The trouble is that as a bunch of experienced players, often from the vast nullsec blocs, the CSM almost by definition caters to the concerns of that level and region of play to the exclusion of all else. That is the problem nobody addresses. How can people who’ve been in the game 15-20 years and who are running or at some high tier level in 30,000 man corps still put themselves in the shoes of 1 month or 6 month or even year old players ?

It’s hard to see how there could be newer player representation on the CSM, but I feel there should be.

Sure lol, why not.

So much I couldn’t possibly list it all, the first major thing they got right for me, not long after I started playing was the removal of learning clones. That was horrid for me as a new player at the time. The extension of the skill que came soon after. A more recent change would be removing skill loss from T3C’s. With so many positive QoL changes in between. EVE is a unique and beautiful game with so much going for it is demoralizing to see the player base struggle and those left within it constantly bitching at each other over how their play style is the only “right way”.

Lets not kid ourselves, CCP do ■■■■ up, but they try and sort it.

First, The constant pushing into player groups. No, you absolutley do not need to join a player group in EVE to survive, have fun, do it “right” or last more than a week…

Not sure if you remember the introduction of teams in the industry window, you could bid for special teams that boosted your job. It was not a good mechanic and allowed for exploitation and overly unfair advantages.

Removing nullification from half the interceptors was pretty rubbish as I used them a lot. I have only left HS twice since that change and I used to go to through LS and into null for data/relics a fair bit when it worked properly. That change took away my access to a lot of New Eden just so the null blocks could have more safety to farm sites.

Letting the COSMOS stuff fall into spaghetti code drama and not sorting it all out so its at least in the agency for people to do.

The biggest thing I think they have got wrong however is their assessment of who plays EVE and why, I really don’t think they have a clue, and the voices that are constantly shouting in their ears are a misrepresentation of the player base we have, it’s not all on them though as we are genuinely so diverse it must be very hard for them to know how something they do will play out. Responsibility also falls on the silent, they need to speak up.

Lots of things that just shouldn’t be in the game so I am constantly telling myself to shut up… like T2 cloaky MTU’s that if you don’t bookmark you wont ever find again. A single use T2 Mobile Defense Depot that holds 8 anti combat probe seeker missiles that will blow up 8 combat probes that are within 4AU of your location, T2 firework launchers that shoot 10 fireworks per cycle, passenger transport so you could carry other players in a touring ship to see the sights of New Eden… As I mentioned in a recent post on Mikes CSM campaign, Id like to see a SOE fax, a triglavian mining barge, a dedicated fast racing frigate, other silly things like being able to have more input on the NPC corp your in, more for the players that are not interested in joining any one group but are still highly social and last but not least, being able to get out your ship again.

Skill extractors/injectors, unlimited alts, abusive play styles, bots. The rule about not having capitals in HS, I get it and understand why, but I still deep down wanna use a Nyx to run missions.

The ability to remain autonamous, unaffiliated, footloose and fancy-free.

Mandatory pvp, I’m not talking about market pvp or competing over sites. Forced. Able only to only shoot other players or get shot by them. Like COD, spawn die, spawn die, spawn die. As an older peaceful player I would always only be the victim in that scenario as I have no desire whatsoever to be aggressive.

As I hve mentioned many times in many places, I would like CCP to get hold of the old Westwood code for Dune 2000/C&C and make PI a RTS mini game. I see that as the only sensible solution to this matter.

No Idea on this sorry, never been in a player corp and never will be. I like to think that CCP are always working on iterating the UI, photon a recent example and with EVE nothing is static, it might appear that way but behind the scenes dev’s, the tech, are always moving forward and we often don’t get to see the fruition of these efforts for years. There is an over representation on the CSM for large null sec groups and they are the ones that have to deal with that UI on a scale I cant even imagine. I think they are more than capable of advising CCP on that over me a humble HS care bear that is still happy in a NPC corp.

You’ve not included my responses, were they not good enough? Please let me know if not and I hope I can answer them better for you.

This is the entire format for which I am running my campaign on. I am not answering for a major null block group. I am a High Sec CSM candidate. I’m running for the little guy, the High Sec industrialist. I have no major null backer in this fight.
